I have had only one call from this number, but a lady asked to speak to my husband from whom I have been divorced for several months. When I said he didn't live at this address any more, the phone was just put down. No explanation, no apology.

I am not very well and hesitant to answer the phone anyway - this number rings at least twice a day and I find it very upsetting - is there no law that can prevent such unsolicited harrassment?

I missed a few calls from this number. When I did answer one, it was British Gas. They were ringing me about another supplier trying to move my account away from British Gas without my knowledge or consent.

had several calls from this number - when i answer it the other end seams to put their phone down.

Geting nuisance calls from this number on regular basis, now going to report it to Ofcom, as we all have something in common we all left British Gas around 1 year ago, then we can assume its there marketing department.

have just emailed BG about the 'silent calls'. it maybe of use to someone, so email copied below.

over the last week i have recieved several calls from the above number, which when i answer hang up.

a google search showed that the call came from British Gas.

PLEASE STOP THESE CALLS IMEDIATLEY.

i have now signed up to call barring service with bt, which will prevent the calls getting through from tomorrow.

for the first 28 days this service is free & after that a charge will be leavied by bt.

to avoid paying a fee [which will be passed to British Gas along with reasonable expenses, via small claims court] to prevent these calls, i ask that you provide me with written assurance within 14 days of this email that these calls will cease.

if no assurance is given measures to prepair legal case against British Gas will commence.

When you are idly watching TV, or have nothing to do at work, why not give them a non-urgent call?

I have received two calls from this number and have not answered every time. It is a nuisance to be called by numbers you do not know....also have heard scare stories that people can access our mobile account through dodgy calls.

I make a point of never answering my mobile unless its showing a recognised name.  However, after receiving calls from this number for 3 days in a row I thought I'd try and find out who it could be and put the number into Google and now realise I'm not alone in getting these nuisance calls.  I am a British Gas customer but if its that important they contact me they'll have to resort to writing to me before getting a response.

The company 'Yes Loans' has a similar number, and they've been harassing my wife for days via the landline and her mobile asking if she wants a loan.  I answered the phone just now expecting it to be them, but it turns out it was this British Gas number instead.  I gave a Scottish lady a mouthful of abuse and told them we're not interested in a loan, and she then told me it was in fact British Gas.

We were with them for a while until they kept buggering up our gas bills, constantly charging us £600+ and threatening us with legal action and whatnot before realising their mistake in the billing.  Since leaving them a few months ago we've been receiving constant phone calls from them too, so upon being informed that I hadn't verbally abused an innocent person (I've spoken to her several times) I simply put the phone down.

We had been out and on our return checked 1571, no messages, checked 1471, 'you were called today at 12.03 by telephone number 08450700827', which I now know is British Gas. I do have a boiler maintenance contract with them but they normally write to arrange service visits. If it was a sales call we are registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service)!

I'm in the middle of changing from Npower to scottish, strange that British gas is calling, I've done a few online surveys the last couple of weeks, it's since then I've been cold called from kwikfit and now maybe BG, I expect it's these damn survey people selling details or expecting commission from new leads.

I had received numerous calls from this number in the past.
1. When on one occasion I answered it and there happened to be someone on the other end (often it's just an empty line), I requested that I be removed from their list.
2. Also, if you dial the number, you get advised to ring the 0113 338 1022 number to be removed from their lists. (I did this)
3. Finally, I've also rung British Gas, and requested that my account be marked to not be called about any new products or services.

All this was a few weeks ago. Today I've yet again been dialled from this number. As a British Gas customer, I've had enough of them pestering me. I'm changing suppliers in the morning, and will investigate call-barring options.

I keep getting calls from this number and when I answer there is a delay then the phone cuts off.  Its a nuisance!!

Just received a call from 0008450700827.

Due to the unrecognized number starting with three (3) zeros, I did not pick up the phone. My mobile is brand new and I had contact with British Gas yesterday giving them my mobile number.

HAVE NOT ANSWERED THE CALLS AFTER CHECKING ON GOOGLE

I've now been called 10 times in the last 7 working days.

Each time just a silent answer phone message.

I've complained to OFCOM, again.

These people are driving me mad- this number called this week once, twice a day. Today I answered it, they hung up. Wha do I do?

I have recently changed suppliers from British Gas too, and yes the calls from 0845 0700827 have started .... and my phone number is already registered with TPS !!! Nice one British Gas, your marketing dept must be really proud of the way they are winning back customers with these nuisance phone calls LOL

They have called at least four times today, each one silent upon answering and stating the other person has cleared. Extremely annoying.
