I also have never been a customer with British Gas but yet they have just called me.  And it was not a professional person on the end of the line, and the girl was laughing and asking for the wrong person.
My Q is where or who did they get my number from!

Calls are silent most of the time, when they do talk it's usually British Gas trying to get me to resign with them as I have recently switched supplier. I have told them on numerous occasions that I dont want them to call again, but invariably they do, normally the next day.
My phone number is already registered with the TPS. These calls have been approx 3-4 times a day, ranging from 9.30am up to as late as 7.30pm.

Can no-one stop these people??

This number has been calling me everyday for the past few months. When i eventually answered, it was British Gas with a sales call

got my first call today , had to miss it as i work in a call centre , am intrigued about what it is , not returning it though coz 0845 numbers on a mobile are a no no ,

I am in the process of switching suppliers as i am so fed up with BG. So I must be getting these calls coz they want to keep me...haha

They didnt leave a message so I take it they will phone back, cant wait.

2 missed/ignored calls and no message - so I definately won't be answering it the next time!

I had one call earlier this afternoon & the call was cut off as soon as I said "Hello", with a 2nd call received while I was out about 10 minutes ago, which I picked up from my answering machine, but they didn't bother to leave a message - I wonder why?  Anyway, I left British Gas earlier this year, and have absolutely no intention of returning to them, even more so now I'm starting to get these nuisance calls from them

does anyone know if there is an ordinary number i can ring stop these calles? one that isn't an 0800 or 0845 number as they cost money on a mobile

Redaing the other comments posted here I presume it is British Gas and I have not been a customer for 9 months, and was one only briefly when I moved into my flat during the time it took to change over to another provider

number has called twice within a week.  When i answer, they put their end down.

I've kept getting calls from this number every few days for the past 2 weeks. It's getting annoying now! If it weas a legitimate call then they would surely leave a message. I recently left Scottish Gas so assume it's them by the above comments...

This and a few numbers all doing the same thing but one person spoke and claimed to be from british gas, i cant remember the other numbers but im expecting there all linked. Getting calls 2-3 times a day and even if they leave a message it just sounds like a fuzzy noise

I have had several calls from this number 08450700827 ,I never answer it ,I let it go to the answering machine,they never leave a message,so why do they bother calling?.DD said to call them back and tell them to stop calling you,the problem with this is that you have to pay for the phone call,I don't want to spend money on asking them to stop calling me.If British Gas still had showrooms I would go there and give them a good bollocking every day,that would stop them,unfortunately they now hide away in secret call centres in India .It's about time these places were closed down, I get fed up of these idiots phoning me up all the time.
          The technology is available from BT to bar certain calls but after a free trial period you have to pay for this service.Also any calls that have an international caller ID can be barred but BT have told me that they can't do this.The only other option is to change your phone number but most people will find this unacceptable.

I get about four calls a day from this number, every day, and it's getting on my nerves.

I'm getting 2 calls a day from this number (08450700827). As I have my phone on silent during the day I don't know they've called until I check in the evening. They never leave a message. If it is BG can't they spend all the money they are taking from their customers on something more worthwhile!

I am also getting call from this number with almost after 2 hours interval. No body speaks at other end. They must be expecting me to call back...

No way, they are highly chargeable phone lines...

They called twice, I had to run downstairs first and missed the call. The second time my old mum answered and they must have got a shock as she's totally deaf and tests the patience of a saint.

I hate cold calling and wish it be banned.

Just got a call from a Scottish lady. She said she was calling from Scottish Gas, and then corrected it to British Gas when I queried it. She was calling as I was previously a customer with British Gas, and then I told her that I still was! She then asks if my address is <whatever> and I say it isn't. So some sort of mix up there. Am still trying to figure out where they got my mobile number from though...
