i seriously think people are over exaggerating the issue here. they do commply with tps rule, but a lot of people still dont know that u have to register with tps every 6 months, coz people move around and numbers get changed and so on. so if u dont want to be bothered make sure u update ur number with tps every 6 months. NES are not spamming u, they simply are doing their job which is to carry out the government grant, all they do is give u a free assesment to qualify u for a grant to make sure that u dont missout on ur entitlement as the grant is coming to an end, if u say ur with tps they simply remove u, if still gettin calls u need to find out the exact number coz theres lots of other companies who are doing the same thing, so may get confused thinkin its the same people. the number for nes is 0800 633 5769, they are very helpful as they helped me alot to insulate my home and found me many ways of saving money. i had good reception from them, at first i thought they were annoying coz they wouldnt leave message but when spoke to one of their representative who was very polite and thorough and explained the reason of call, i knew they were doing a good thing. they'r not bad people, sometimes because of the volume of the call systems and have error and may not scan the tps properly jus let them kno that u r tps and they dont bother i know because i did the same and told them that i will call the wen im ready and in the meantime for them to put me down as a tps customer and i had no calls from nes, however i did get calls from other companies who were doing the same thing. i  then called nes at my own time and was not bothered in the meantime. they dont scam u as they're not taking any money off u nor do they ask for bank details or any such thing.

hhmm i guess alot of people dont know much about the government grant then, nes is one of the many companies who have been asked to carry out the grants, therefore they have been given the go ahead with the data, they dont hold any personal information just the name, address and telephone number, they dont know who's had it done and who hasnt and so therefore they go through the database they've been given through market research, it is legitimate, but they shouldnt be calling tps numbers. it is our responsibilites though to make sure we register with tps every 6months to avoid these calls if we dont want them. the grant will ending in 2012 as the givernment signed upto a scheme called 'cert (carbon emission reduction target) scheme' under this scheme every home in uk qualifies for a grant for loft or cavity walls and also windows etc. it came out in 2008 under the labour party and is ending in 2012 so as u can see time is running low and still lot of homes which are not insulated as people are being an ass, so yes these people are doing a good job trying to carry out the grant before it runs out actually. government have already signed up to this and end date was fixed then too. so f u want to be an [***] and miss out then thats ur problem. reporting this to watch dog isnt gonna go far, coz they'r not doing anythin wrong xcept if they callin u wen ur with tps, but watch dog will find out when u last registered with them too, they'r not jus gonna bring a company to tv without any research on both sides lol.

lol this number doesnt belong to nes. there are lots of company like these with similar numbers Brian. nes has the number 4 inbetween the 1's. i had a call too from them and have been monitering very closely, when i told them that i was with tps the lady very politely appologised and said she'd register it as tps. but i kept having similar calls and thought it was them but realised they were very similar numbers but different company trying to carry out the grant. i gotto admit though nes has kept their word and didnt call me since i mentioned tps, i feel sorry for them that ppl are getting them confused with other companies with similar numbers.

They tell me theyre Nationwide Energy, conducting a survey on home improvements. Have told them repeatedly that I live in Grade A listed building, rented, third floor and they still seem to think I'm interested in buying a conservatory LOL.

Have reported them tonight (again) to TPS, with which we're registered,.

You do NOT need to register with TPS every 6 months, that's what companies that are breaking the rules tell gullible people to stop being reported.

You are correct. The TPS website is quite clear that you are registering the number not the address and lasts for ever. As you say, these scam companies try and tell you otherwise.  One of them, on this website last week, tried to say that you could not register mobiles with TPS when in fact you can, for voice calls but not texts.

This telephone number rang my FAX LINE and left a recording playing music for over 20 minutes, which meant that I couldn't disconnect the call, thus my incoming faxes and outgoing faxes and calls could not be received or made.
We subscribe to both TPS and FPS.

About Energy Grant Adviser: They rang us today(822pm),and called several times yesterday. They said we should get a follow up letter from Well Warm Insulation to arrange a survey of our house for loft and cavity wall insulation. They wouldn't give me the number for well Warm Insulation OR Energy Grant Adviser, both of which I asked for. They said I would get a letter from Well Warm Insulation, with the telephone number on it. I said I didn't want a letter from Well Warm Insulation. We are registered with TPS, so shouldn't get this kind of marketing call.
I have found Well Warm Insulation on-line, but the 0800 number is an answerphone.
I can't currently get onto the TPS website to register a complaint..........maybe it has crashed with a deluge of complaints about this company!!!!

I agree! I was also told by TPS that you do not need to re-register every 6 months, and it doesn't matter who your landline provider is either, or if you change provider, so long as you keep your number-your details stay on the TPS database

Agent began the call by vaguely claiming she was working for the government. When I asked questions, she admitted it was a sales call (albeit that they would try to apply for a government grant in the process). Completely deceptive and underhand. Plus, I'm on TPS.

Have had numerous calls from this number recently. I am also on TPS. With CLI at least I can see who is calling and I let the answer machine take over (yet to get a message left though!). My new Panasonic phone allows "number barring" which rejects calls from any of the numbers which you have entered on the barring list so I have added this one to the list. The phone doesn't ring so you don't get bothered from this number again. The caller hears one burst of ring tone before the Panasonic rejects the call. Cool eh!

Unbelieveable - came home today to find they had called 10 times!!!!!  I never answer my landline and it's registered with TPS, so these people haven't got a hope.  But might answer once just to have some fun with them.  Might pretend to be a government official and ask for their company registration number to check my records.
