i have already ready written on this site about this number and i recently got in touch with an uncle of mine that works for revenue and customs and he says DONT give any information out, he has had hundreds of letters coming through the tax office saying they have been getting calls off this number 08453021420 is it a scam?? he says IT IS as the tax will write to you if they need to get in touch.

got a call stating it was from revenue & customs woman asked for my ni number before she would give me details. I did not belive her so i asked for her number 0845 302 1420 and she said it was a call centre and i asked her name she said it was mrs saul/soul .Called number it did not connect - sounded like a debt collecting agency trying to be smart

I've been getting calls from this number since the 22nd of July ever day without fail they call me, it is getting beyond a joke now!! does anyone know who i can phone to complain about this, its 2/3/4 times a day and in very distressing as i do not owe these people money!!!

0845 302 1420 is a number for HMRC Tax Credit Recovery Team (that they "have only recently starting using").
– An alternative (better in my opinion) number (for the same dept.) is 0845 302 1429.

It's taken me an hour and a half to find this out after various HMRC depts (including the Tax Credit Helpline 0845300390 !) saying the number is invalid and they have no record of any 'issues' or the calls made to me in the last few days. – But a call to 0845 302 1429 sorted it all out.  ––  Good luck!!!

ive had 2 phone calls within the last 2 months and wouldnt give my address so rang hmrc from there number whats on there website and she said i have nothing on my records to say i owe them anythink or anythink is wrong with my payments and asked for the phone number so she could report it x

I've just had a phone call from this number I only answer numbers i recognition so this went to answer machine. They asked for someone who's never lived in this house...ever. And we are not on any tax credit or the like so it cant be for us.
the womans voice was not scottish, and she did say she was from HMR & taxes and wanted a NI number

Yesterday I had a text message saying "I know you are there, answer your phone, There's nowhere to hide from HM Inland Revenue". Then i had a missed call from same number and then another text saying. "I strongly urge you not to ignore our attempts tp contract you, we do not wish to unleash the Tax-o-bots".
An hour later my partner got a missed call from the same number... Is it someone we no being stupid?

Judging by the wording, someone with too much time on their hands is playing rather a cruel prank. Can't really imagine an employee of HMRC saying "tax-o-bots", can you?

No I cant!!  They also put my name in the text.. we have texted the number from my partners phone and told them B*******!! It just seems strange that they phoned both of us around the same time..

Just had a missed cal and a voicemail left from number 08453021420.
The lady stated the same message as quoted several times above "Please call me back before 8pm tomorrow quoting your NI number".
The lady asked for "Miss Stophia"

This isnt my name but sounds like my first name.
I have not had this mobile number for long - 8 weeks perhaps? and I have not given it out apart from friends and family.

So I doubt this could be from the tax office. They have written to me in the past as they hav enot had my number.
has anyone actually returmed the call on this number?

This is DEFOZ  a scam, they phoned me last night at 2:30am and asked me for my star sign and favourite ice-cream flavour.

After i gaves them it next thin i new my house had vanished and i WAS naeked. I had no clothes on. I was also blind

Then the guy said i had to go to an operation to see again. He had found me an eye transplant. I said who, he said he loved me and left. When I woke up i could see agen but he was ded and left a note saying LOVE U.

Received a call from this number today SUNDAY - woman saying she's calling from HM revenue & Customs about a personal tax issue. I asked her if they work on a Sunday and she quickly suggested if I was concerned I could check the number 0845 302 1420 and call back. There is no indication on HMRC site that they operate on Sundays and this number does NOT appear. but upon googling it this site and another popped up.

I got one of these calls. Called HMRC direct after refusing to give out any information - not the number the scammers gave me I hasten to add. They have NOTHING on file. I have forwarded the number to the police.

Definitely HMRC concerning over payment of Working Tax Credits. I don't answer numbers I don't recognise. They can go and swing for their money at the moment as I'm unemployed - let them take me to court and see how much blood they can get out of this stone.

Its not real its a scam just phoned hmrc and they say not us and they do all the running not some [***] firm trying to be them so up yer bawz ya numpty Bullya!!

The number provided in the forum, is the correct call back number for Working Tax and Child Tax Credits overpayments. Someone from Debt Management will urgently need you to return the call. Suggestion, try ton call the number back, where it will confirm the number is HM Revenue & Customs.

The number is NOT available on www.hmrc.gov.uk due to a number created for the use of Debt Management only.

It is a genuine number for HMRC (which has multiple departments under the umbrella)

They don't have enough phone lines as it is always engaged when you ring back

I to have been getting calls from this number 01246293793 saying the same thing about being from h mrc call them back by 8pm tomorrow they ask for a mrs darboy she does not live here i've never heard of her and it sounds nothing at all like mine and i've had this number quite sometime
