- valfarhall@btinternet.comWOW .. there are some really very clever people on this forum now! I'm just delighted that between all of us we have given a lot of worried business owners the confidence to stand up to companies like Britannia Law Limited..I know a lot of people are reading the comments but not posting, ( I have several emails asking for a copy of my solicitors letter from people who don't want to comment.) I just wish there was a way we could get the message out to more people, because I know Britannia Law Limited are not the only company doing it.
Gary, what are those relevant dates? and what do they mean?
I did wonder if we should contact Martins Money Tips... he is always on the lookout for scams..- Caller: Britannia Law Limited
- valfarhall@btinternet.com| 1 replyAND!!! how did you find out all that stuff about Web Bugs??

- Janet replies to valfarhall@btinternet.comthat guy would make a great amateur detective.MAYBE HE IS !!!
- Cathy replies to terryGreat work Gary and I agree with Janet , you should be a private dectective if you are not already one.And Val you are right, POWER TO THE PEOPLE ,who actually work for a living instead of being a human parasite like Britannia Law ltd.I will never forgive them for the way they treated my parents.they are number 1 on my familys hate list.
- Mick replies to GaryExcellent work Gary, I agree I think their days are numbered, but they will only set up in a different name, as we have all said, the more people know the better.
When I first done research into Britannia Law Ltd, their website was "under construction" the e-mail address was non existant, and their post code is used in some sort of re-directed mail system.
The bank account they use is Nat West in Nottingham and is STILL ACTIVE !! as I rang the branch and asked whose name it was under (data protection I knew they could not tell me but was worth a try) asked Nottingham Police surely the fraud squad is interested in this the type of scam, they have the power to investigate bank accounts and the Royal Mail ! the officer I spoke to agreed but said it would need more substantial numbers before they would investigate.
Hopefully this forum is a start to their destruction as they have clearly upset a lot of hard working people, I am so annoyed that all I had to do was ring the Valuation Office in the first place as it is completly free of charge, ah well.......... lessons learned ! - imirie replies to Gary| 5 repliesHmmmmm....interestingly enough, if you look up the company records of McLaren & Fitch (though google) and then google their director's name, you'll come across a facebook page of two suited mid-30's guys. The majority of this guys 800 or so friends are based in Nottingham. Could just be a coincidence, but it does makes you wonder if there is a link between these two companies.
- Simon replies to imirieAnd what is the Director's name for this company?
- Gary replies to imirie| 3 replies"if you look up the company records of McLaren & Fitch (though google) and then google their director's name, you'll come across a facebook page of two suited mid-30's guys."
Great find Imirie!
Andrew NALLY, 34, of Nottingham, the director of MACLAREN & FITCH LTD, is just two clicks from
Amy BAINBRIDGE, 29, of Nottingham, the director of BRITANNIA LAW LTD.
e.g. here is just one of the many Facebook links between NALLY and BAINBRIDGE:
Andrew NALLY - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=558582760
........is friends with Darryl IRELAND who....
....... is friends with Kelly IRELAND who is friends with ...
Amy BAINBRIDGE - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610603108
But is that a genuine photograph of BAINBRIDGE?
It has been changed four times in the few days. It could be a photo of anyone.

Interesting to see the correlation between all the people involved with this scam! And put faces to names of people who've personally threatened me, now I certainly have the upper hand! - Simon replies to GaryYea, sorry..... That was me who wrote the above comment which looks like Gary is speaking to himself!

Just wondered if anyone else has been contacted by that number and are they connected to britannia Law Ltd ?

- Citizen replies to Mick| 1 replyThank you for this web site, it has saved me time and energy. I was due for an appointment for the post of telesales adviser that Britannia Law had advertised with a few job search sites. However, I felt something seemed offish when they told me that their city center office was being refurbished, so my interview would take place instead in their Colwick office at 6 Poulton Drive. After doing a search on Google maps I was surprised by the dingy and poor appearance of the area, it was literally next to a Skip company. This caused me to research them further and then I came across this web site.
Although, I know that it is quite easy to make fake complaints with fake aliases online, I found a lot of consistency in the types of complaints against Britannia by seemingly different people(Angela, Val, Simon, Gary) and felt they were vindicated partly by the unprofessional and abusive posts by David White. I was astonished to find comments addressed to Angela attempting to assassinate her character by stereotyping her as a chav/asbo, "yellow fingers", "9 CCJ's" and the sexually demeaning comment, "Come to my friends stage due" This immediately betrayed to me that Britannia Law cannot be a professional company if the manager feels the need to come to a public forum, and argue and abuse his clients in such a common manner. A professional company would settle the matter outside of public through professional channels. I would doubly expect this of a so-called legal firm which should have thorough knowledge of the relevant bodies to contact, the legal infrastructure at their disposal and correct procedures to deal with clients allegedly defaming them.
Well, it does seem to be a professional company at all? For starters where is the office located? They supposedly have a team of 65+ people working for them. However, it seems they only rent virtual space at the Foxhall business organization, which entitles any anonymous home business to share their address, receptionist staff and their mail-box facility. If I was working for them where would I be going everyday? Hopefully, not 6 Poulton drive!
My perusal of the posts here and other research I did brought up many questions in my mind:
Why would the website of a 'reputable legal firm' have such bad grammar, and why would the material be lifted from the website of another legal firm based in London?(also of seemingly dubious credentials)
The very fact that both these firms are friends on facebook is another glaring red flag.
Why do they not have a Nottingham telephone number? Why would the company director of a 'reputable legal firm employing 65+ working professionals" be living in a run-down immigrant area in Snenton?
Further research revealed that this is similar to a business rating reduction "scam". The word 'scam' is not technically correct, because nothing illegal or fraudulent is actually going on. The company basically exploits the ignorance of their clients in trying to sell them a rate reduction appealing service for a large price which the client could do themselves easily for free by filling in a form. However, there is some deception involved:
1) No win no fee. The client is deceiving into thinking that they will only pay if their case wins and they get a business rate reduction. What it actually says on the Britannia web site is that the client pays if and only if their case is actually "acknowledged" by the valuation department. The valuation department has to by law acknowledge every case, including the ones that may eventually lose! In the other words the client will always have to pay the fee, even if they do not win.
2) Success rate. The success rate of getting a business rate reduction has got nothing to do with the company actively fighting the clients case. It is based on the decision of the valuation office. All that company does is fill out a form and the rest is in the court of the valuation office agency. What the company omits is that this can go either way: It is possible that the business rates can actually increase as an outcome, thus the client ends up losing not just the fee to the company, but also ends up paying higher business rates in the end! Apparently, the success rate for getting a reduction is actually low.
The local trading standards in several cities nationwide have recently issued warnings against these kinds of "scams" including Bristol and Cornwall.
Had I actually attended the interview and landed the job I would have been one of those aggressive cold callers, calling up clients like Angela etc and trying to deceive them. Needless to say, I did not go to the interview. - Di replies to CitizenWe too have been subject to harassment from this 'company'. They will not be getting a penny from us! I'd rather set fire to the money they're asking for. I suggest that we all individually contact the WATCHDOG' programme independently today with our own experiences. The contact details are:-
Watchdog, MC4 C5, Media Centre, Wood Lane, London, W12 7TQ.
If enough people do this asap I'm sure that Brittania Law Ltd would be investigated. Something I think you'll agree would be welcomed. Could you all please show your support. I think it's worth at least a stamp.
Message to Brittania Law Ltd - if you are a legitimate business, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. (sarcasm) - Di replies to Angela CrootHi Angela
Just writing a letter to 'Watchdog' enlightening them of the practises of 'Brittania Law Ltd'. Do you mind if I include the threatening message they have put on this forum against you? I think it's shameful. - valfarhall@btinternet.com| 1 replyWow Citizen...
You really have done your homework! great stuff..and fascinating reading...bet your glad you didn't go work for them as you would never sleep at night!
I have been doing my bit, by forwarding a copy of my solicitors letter to anyone who emails me..so far I have sent out 9, so I hope thats 9 more businesses who won't have waste their money.
Di, I have already been in contact with Watchdog, as I think a few others have, just waiting for them to contact us, and you are quite right, the way David White treated Angela was a disgrace.. I did think of writing to Martins money tips, he is always on the look out for scams.. or perhaps the national papers?- Caller: Britannia Law Limited
- Steve HSo glad I've found this site. I was just about to pay £500 to Brittania Law Ltd even though they have nothing more than make a free phonecall to my local rates office. Found all the harassment very upsetting. Recently discovered that a business man in my town paid the full initial amount and didn't hear another word. I will not be paying now thanks to this forum. Thanks guys!

- valfarhall@btinternet.com| 9 repliesOh Bless Steve... that makes me feel all warm and glowing :-) I think this forum is read by a lot of people.. We really do need to keep it going as there will obviously be more people every day suffering what we all did..(until they close down or invent a new company) I just wish we could get it on the top page of Google..

- Di replies to valfarhall@btinternet.comHi Val
I think we should inform as many people as possible. What about the newspaper that serves Nottingham too. Let's all get contacting whoever might be an appropriate source to trigger investigations that will subsequently close this company down and bring those responsible to justice. Sunday papers??? After all, reporters for one love something meaty get their teeth into. Interesting reading looking at the pics on facebook too. They all look like rough rogues to me. The net is closing in on them.
Well done Val. Keep up the good work! - terry| 2 repliesHi all. As everyone got all their letters from the scumbags at hand, if so put them all side by side and check the signatures of Helen Swann, Keri Johnson,Judith Harrison and the rest, is it just me or are they all same hand writing! Looks like David could be working on his own lol
- james11| 1 replyJust a quick message, for all you sad people, who have got all the time in the world to complain about this firm, hahaha, I got a nice rebate back....
I think you all need to get a life....
At the end of the day, we all have agreed and got into a contract our selves. The only person to blame is ourselves. I have spoken to the Trading Standards, and they say, you cant do anything, as you have entered into a contract, and you had 7 days to cancel, so I let it go, and waited and actually did get a good rebate back, and a good reduction on my rates...
Lucky me hey...
:)
Keep posting ....
