They are absolute crap,full of verbal and threats ,the truth is they have nothing to back it up,they don't even record phone calls for future court action,so in otherwords they have no intention of going to court so I just tell them to F*** off and then ignore their number when it comes up,and yes they are usually scousers,just ask them why they could only manage to get a job in a call centre with low wages ,they like that one!!

I love debt collectors and like to eat them for breakfast. If you not sure on how to handle them go to a site i found called consumer action group, you will find none of you are alone.

point blank tell them in WRITING sent by recorded delivery to cease calling as this is harassment. CAB handbook says it can be considered harassment if they call more than 3 times a week.

they will continue to call so send a second letter by recorded headed "Letter Before Action" (as they woulda ignored the last one) if they continue take them to court, this is same with banks as I have won a case against barclays this year for that same reason, Barclays (this big bank that you can't touch) has now got a CCJ :D

Don't let them walk/bully you, hit em back, consumers are realising this now and are waking up.

Hi ya guys i got call from this company today , The best way to stop them calling is just to change your Number :) Its Free so just phone up BT and ask them to change your Number , Also they cant do anything , even if they say they will take you to court its lies ! They dont take people to court and even if they did the Debt has to be over £750 !

Dont give them any info and Tell them Scout Joke and then Hang up.

Hey. This number 01514721549 is the same company as 08703330159 and 08703338020. It is Intrum Justitia. I checked the contact us on their website. I believe they are ebay/paypal debt collectors but I assume they collect for other companies too. They ring and hang up or leave messages asking you to call back the rather expensive numbers they leave for you. I suggest you either add the numbers to you block number list, write the number down and leave handy next to your phone or when you do answer (considering they don't hang up) ask lots of questions (who they are? etc) and make sure your dealing with a genuine company before giving any details. Your entitled to do so. If they become rude, aggressive, threatening seek a company like OfCom, Watchdog etc who will give them bad press/media. Write to papers and give them a taste of their own medicine. There are plenty of us on here. Social networking sites would also be a good way of naming and shaming them.

mooosey - it is only considered harrasement if a company calls you 3 times a DAY, not a week. OFT guidlines, I would trust these guidlines more than what the CAB advise becuase they actually have more legal standing!
You will also have to quote the specific statue you are exercising if you wish to stop the calls, likewise if you revoke the implied common law that anyone can "walk down the path and knock on the door" if you dont want visits from "Field Collectors".

Jimmy Jones - The amount a company can sue you for is either based on the size of the balance the court allows (£99.99) or the value a company has set as a policy. I beleive intrum primarily used GBP which still sues through Northampton CC pre 2007 and then moved to Golds, they possibly use a CC in Manchester. If you think DCAs dont sue debtors you might want to go check a few records!

Frankly some of the actions some people take not to pay their bills is absolutely sickening. I'm not a fan of DCAs but if your getting a call from them then guess what, you're in debt...pay it!

Ummmm.... actually MM I don't owe them anything, and they aren't even asking for me but some broke I don't even know.  Quite a few people here have problems with them calling about a debt they don't owe, or calling for someone who doesn't live at their home (or own their mobile) and they just keep on calling no matter how many times you tell them they have the wrong number.  It's annoying to say the least.

THEY CALL MY PARENTS HOME NUMBER ON DAILY BASIS.
THEY CONTINUE TO HARASS ME AND MY FAMILY.
HAVE PAID ALL OUTSTANDING FEES, BILLS ETC TO PAYPAL AND HAVE SENT PAYMENT CONFIRMATION EMAIL FROM PAYPAL SO CANNOT USE E-BAY ACCOUNT.

Getting calls on a daily basis - but they always hang up so I've not actually spoken to them. So what's the point of the calls except to be very annoying? Called the 0115 number and spoke to someone who said my number will be removed from the call list. I've also arranged for call barring on my phone. We shall see......

i think its funny they call me 12 times a day i just pick up and leave the phone on the side for 5 mins they soon ring of when they find there talking to thin air

I have had over 40 calls in the last 2 weeks and 8 text messages from then on two numbers 08703330159 and 01514710108 for a thames water bill I paid over 3 months ago. I understand they are doing there job but extreamly excessive and rude on the telephone.

Be careful when dealing they them and dont give them any information until they tell you what the call is regarding.

Very strange how they get your details I have only just changed my mobile phone provider 3 weeks ago so not sure how they were able to get my contact details as I have not even givne my parents my new number yet???

i dont get why there ringing me they asked for my first line of address and postcode i asked why, then she said i owe a bill to british gas im not even with them, very comfused!!!

Today I have received 5 phone calls from these people! They just dont go away! They are chasing me for £10 not paid on my ebay account, which I am currently in dispute with ebay over anyway! I think I will try the idea of the dog whistle, maybe that'll get rid of them!

is there any way of stopping the amount of daily calls i recieve sometimes up to 9 a day including sunday
