I keep getting calls from 1001.  They won't leave a message.

number +1004 keeps calling it driving me crazy

Have received calls from 1001 for the last 3 days. I don't recognize number and also do not answer the call. Whay should I? If the caller can not leave a message why they keep calling me then it just not that important. Right?

just got a call from 1001 and 1013 they asked for me by my first name - I'm registered on do not call : they asked for me and I asked who was calling and they would not tell me and so I told them until they tell me who they are I would not tell them who I was - and then I ask them over and over again who is calling until they hung up =)

I am getting these calls on my cell four or five times a day, all variations, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006. I never answer and they never leave messages. I have had this same number for over three years. Weird. Most times it is two calls back to back and then they'll wait a few hours. It's everyday though, so damn frustrating!

Got a call tonight from 1001, said my account was deactivated and if I want it reactivated push 1. Then the automated voice requests I enter my account # then hit the #. No specifics, an automated voice prompt, really, like I would enter any #s at all. How in the he'll did they get my cell #? That's what I want to know!!!!

In the last hour, just before midnight, I received the same type of message that "hthompso" received on my cell phone. See above. I was just going to sleep and all lights were out. A female voice said one of my credit cards had been deactivated and if I wanted to reactivate it, push #1. I don't recall if a bank was named, but I think the person mentioned VISA.  I don't even have my wallet in my room, and by the time I rushed down to my husband's office in our home, the voice told me to enter the 16-digit number on my card.  I would never do that... and we have had actual security people actually call us with bogus charges.  Those calls are done by a human being and they ask for a lot of information before they actually try to confirm a card number. They ask us if we have been in a city or state, which they name... in order to see if we can identify the charge.

This MUST BE BOGUS... Don't fall for it... it has to be phishing.  They are sick and desperate [***].

My husband says this is probably done remotely and if they get just a 1% return, well... they've satisfied their quota for the day.

I got a call from this number at 10 pm. I answered and a computer automated voice said "I regret to inform you that your credit union credit credit card has been disabled due to a security breach press 1 to reactivate your card." Just to see what would happened I pressed one. Then I got the same automated voice and it said please enter your 16 digit card number and press pound when finished. I hung up at this point. It is obviously some credit card fraud attempt.

Why don't you provide some answers?  Why criticize other people for the same actions you have taken?

The same thing happened to me ellen_s.  I got a call from 1001 at 8:30pm tonight.  The recording said they were calling from Anoka Hennepin Credit Union and that my debit card had been deactivated.  Press 1 to continue, press 2 to exit.  I've never banked with them, let alone heard of them, so I tried pressing 0 to get to an operator.  It didn't work so I pressed 1.  Then they asked for a 16 digit account number (which I didn't, of course).  Tried pressing 0 again but nothing happened.  Definitely an identity theft scam if you ask me.

Some one claiming to be from Canadian Pharmacy seeking to sell drugs from India or elsewhere.  Told them they have the wrong person.  They called again and the only number showing was 1001.  Probably some overseas "knock off" drug seller.

I received the same call from a 1001 number. It said that my card had been deactivated. It said that I needed to go through it to activate my card again. I went though the call until it asked for my account number. Then, I hung up.

These phone calls are a scam, period.  They are just trying to get your information.  I've received these almost daily for the last few months.  They are using a program to dial a large number of phone numbers at a time.  If you answer, the system transfers the connection to a live person.  They usually and at the very least, they have your name.  It personalizes the conversation and if they have a second piece of information, such as your Morgan Chase card, it makes the conversation seem more legitimate.  Then they ask you to confirm information, account numbers, etc. which they don't have, but you are giving them.  Don't give any information, period.

What to do about it.  Obviously the first option is to call your carrier provider.  I have not tried that as I think the carrier would be unwilling to deal with the large number of fake phone numbers I have received (1001 - 1027).  What I do is create contacts in my Android.  I add each one of these numbers as a phone number within the same contact until I can't add any more phone numbers.  The contact name is Spam and it holds, for example, 10 phone numbers.  After I fill up the ten numbers I create a new contact Spam1 and repeat the process.  When I am done I choose to send the contact straight to voicemail.  The only annoyance now is the little notification of a missed call "Spam".

I just got a call from 1001 and it was a towing company asking for my insurance company's phone #.

I got a phone call from a 1002 number today, similiar to the numbers with the above but I did not answer it..thank god.   Some people are just too desperate. I am currently re rotuing the phone call and very close to tracing back where it came from.  Time to put an end to this non sense,

I got two calls today from 1001. I answered the first one, there was static sound in the background but no one ansered me when I said hello. The second time I ignored the call and they didn't leave a VM. I have T-Mobile, same provider and number for 10 years. I live in WA, USA, I am on the do not call list. Some of the information here has been helpful, I imagine it is a phishing scam. Thank you

I got a 1001 call and did not answer it as I knew it was a scam.  A message was left on my voicemail. No name given, no name addressed, just statement that my card had been blocked due to questionable activity.  Message continued to say press 1 to activate.  Seriously?  One, didn't use any cards; two) activate?  I don't think so.  I talked to the phone and said "Do I look stupid?"  If you get a message stating which company they are representing, be sure to contact that company.  They appreciate when they are notified of these scams.  If it is an ongoing situation, the more people involved the better the chance they have of sending informatio to their legal department.  Yes, this has happened to me before.  Blessfully the "something sounds fishy" sense was too strong to ignore.

I got a call from #1001 telling me my debit card was now deactivated.  Wanted my number to re activate.  HANG UP.  BLOCKED IT!

How were you able to reroute the number to trace the call?
