1001

My whole family has gotten a call from this number! Someone must have hacked a cell phone database somewhere and are calling all of the numbers....

Automaton immediately said something about a credit card (I thought MasterCard) getting taken or stolen. "Press 1" to go to their security department, it said. I never said a word, and I didn't press anything. But I don't have any credit cards, so...

I got a message left on my House answer phone. thanking me for the card  being so kind in sending her money.   I am supposed to be exdirectory.

I've gotten these calls as well. On 2 different days I got 2 calls 30 min apart, plus other individual calls. I ain't answering it!

I just got my first "1001" call a few minutes ago.  No message left.  I'm also an AT&T customer.  I just bought an appliance warranty program through a Walmart 3 party affiliate called Product Assist.com/Newcorp.com.  In order to fill out the warranty information I had to give me phone number (which I thought was reasonable) but now I've changed it to a dummy number.  Although I read the Terms and Conditions VERY carefully and even "Opted Out" of having my info shared, it's curious that I received this strange call.  I also used my MasterCard so I hope THAT isn't a factor (as some other comments have warned).  We'll see if I get any more of these.

Call said my mastercard has been deactivated. It tried to have me put in my card info to reactivate the card. Didn't fall for it.

I recieved a strange call from a 1001 number on my cell phone who or what is it???

Don't answer these calls, they're scams. Also legit-looking numbers are scamming people too. My advice for those of you with cells or caller ID: if you don't recognize it from your list of contacts, don't even answer it. And especially don't call the number back even if some stranger leaves a message saying they are in distress--this is also a scam playing on people's good nature and/or curiosity.

I too just got a call from this number... 1001.  I refused to answer it and they left no message.

Just happened and know its a scam.

I received the call that my Master Card had been locked.  They said to press one, but I hung up.  It is just a recycled scam they hope everyone has forgotten about.

Got a call from 1001 on my wife's phone @ 11:48 PM. Left silent voicemail.
2 days previous I received a call from 1112251417 asking for a Mr. Richards.
Never get these weird numbered calls until now.

I received a call from 1001 number and a call from 801. Both calls referenced my master card account.

I just received the call as well. I did not answer it, as I get bogus calls a lot, often from out of state. I live in America. I have received 1 call. I have at&t.  I checked the voicemail to find but a 5 second long blank message. I believe that the only common link between everyone is that they have a phone. I would not advise answering the calls, as I have heard of people jacking odd phone numbers in an attempt to charge to your phone bill, or the like. It is possible that it may be an identity theft method as well. I will be further researching this topic at a later date.

got call from +1001 ....and a company message started playing....i hung up ...........looks like a scam but......no idea

At 8:31 this morning i was woken up by my ringtone and a call from 1001. I did not know who that was, so I let it ring. It left no voicemail. WTF?

My friend today got this call from 1001 and 3333333333 and a few others but the 1001 number said the first time that he was from Spain and wanted to know where we lived and name and for a donation of money. The other times he called he said he was from India and my friend asked if he wanted to be his friend, 1001 said yes then my friend asked if he wanted a donation and he said yes but we think he's trying to track us down

I just recieved this call and it concerns me because I pay extra so that not just anyone can get my At&t unlisted home phone number. I googled it and this site is all I found:(

On caller ID it shows up as 1001.  And they've called twice early in the morning - 6:25 a.m.  No one is there.
