Received a call this morning from this number. Caller ID reports it as WASH DC CALL. "Press 1 to insure your reduced interest rate." When I asked what credit card, the caller then cagily suggested it was a Visa card, and on we go.  He got more specific and said Chase.  When I didn't bite, he hung up. I assumed I was talking to India but it could have been anywhere.

This is a good site but it would be more useful if there were links to appropriate reporting bodies.

Lower Interest rate on credit cards. Could not give me information about the organization they were calling for nor could they supply me with information concerning what bank my cards where through. I DID NOT GIVE ANY CARD INFORMATION. I did google the number and found a site that gave location of the cellphone provider for this number and how to report the number as a fraud scam number.

Left a message but no name.  Call was to reduce our credit card bills, which we don't have.   Said we could press '2' to opt out.  They need to be fined!  An obvious scam.

The number being displayed on your caller ID is faked.  The poor people who answered the number when I dialed back had been pounded by irate callers.(the number was to their cell phone)
Too bad the phone company won't expend any energy or money to prevent caller ID fraud.  Too many of these companies get away with faking their number and either using a non-assigned number or using someone else's number.  Until they get tough, this crap will continue.  It's easy to stop - the phone company can easily check the data that the outgoing caller is sending right at the source - and if it doesn't match then they can either block the calls from going out or correct the data to reflect the main number of the calling business. This laziness is at our expense. People that fall for this scam will lose money and the law will have a hard time tracking them down due to the ability of the scammer to hide their true number and location.

Received a call from 1-202-459-7122 (Card Services) then pressed "1" and got connected with some female who sounded like she had a mouth full of something and spoke broken English.  When I asked to be connected to someone I might be able to understand the call was disconnected.

I believe this is a scam to acquire personal information and not lower the interest rate on credit cards.

Received the call at 2:46 PM 11-2-09

This call # is now blocked on my phone.

They called and stated since I always pay on time I am eligible to lower my interest rate to 6.9%.  When I asked which card, they said all of them and started listing several banks.  They then asked for my expiration date.  I said because you called me I don't want to give my expiration date because and they hung up immediately before I could get a number and entity to call back.

Just got a call from this number. No one said anything when I answered and said "hello" 3 times. We have two phone lines here. Not long before this call, I got a call on the other phone line from a blocked number about my "credit card account". I have no credit cards.

This used to happen and they stopped for a while after I yelled at them. Here we go again....

Just got a call and pressed 2 to be taken off their list. Someone answered and then quickly hung up on me.

I paid off all plastic in 2002.  Leave me alone.

Caller unknown but I received the pre-recorded message about lowering my credit card rate - I noted the message didn't indicate what company.  When I pressed 1 I also spoke with a person who was difficult to understand but I finally understood him to say, "Did you press 1 to lower your interest rate?"  I replied "Yes, I did."  Then he said, "We will need to confirm if you are still eligible for this program, is your total debt over $3000.00?"  I replied that the message indicated they were calling about MY credit card account and if that were true then he would know my balance.  He abruptly hung up.

Just got this call and googled it. Next time I am just going to press 1 for the representative, tell them I'm interested in their service but can they please hold on for a minute while I shut off the stove/turn off the faucet,etc., then I am going to set the phone on the counter and wait for the dial tone. I've done it before and the callers do get sick of having their time wasted and move on. If everyone they called did this they might just go nuts and give up.

received two calls from this number.  we didn't pick up because it showed no called ID. definitely a scam. thanks for the update.

Received phone call at 9:45 am,Nov. 8th, but didn't answer because the caller ID showed 'Unknown Name.'  Decided to check reference on the computer and found this site.  I've also been getting some strange phone calls from the NRA, which we never made a contribution too or even associated with.

It now is reading on Caller ID WASH DC CALL.  I didn't even say anything and it went right into a recorded message telling me no problem with my credit card but this is my last chance to LOWER my intrest rate!!!!  LOL! I hung up.

I received a call on my Caller ID as Unknown name and the number 202 459-7122.
I answered and the caller hung up.  Since I was not familiar with the number I googled the number and found this site.  The call came in at 10:32am,

I am on the Do Not Call Registry and I have now filed a complaint.

Usual BS re credit cards-shame as i don't have any. Pressed #1 Told them i was on the do not call list and they would be reported (just done) and they can go f*** off.

They hung up. Shame.
