Got a missed call from this number. If they call again I will not pick-up after reading all the previous comments from people

I just got a missed call from this number and i found out it was from a skype phone so i notified skype about this

Just got another prank call from 202-580-8200 and this time it was a black man that was on the phone cursing and cussing at me. im getting sick of this

This was a call from my fiancee via skype.  You may not know who is calling but it IS Skype and not one of those sneaky bill collectors I was expecting.

I think a number of people seem to be confusing this phone number with its association to 1 person.

To clear this up, this number, along with 0123456789 is a Skype (DUMMY) number for all skype messenger users that make outside calls to landlines and/or mobile phones.

This is the caller id number of ANY user that is performing one of the above mentioned tasks. For those not familiar with skype, it is VOIP (voice-over internet protocal) messenger software. It can be used to have voice chat from computer-computer, computer-land line telephones, computer-mobile telephones WORLDWIDE. No matter where the call is from or where it is placed, it will always be done by a user who is familiar with the fact this number comes up on the received caller's ID.

Now, be advised, that people who receive calls from these numbers, there is no return number directly to the person doing it. This is the advantage that allows these people to hide behind.

I've been using skype since its inception. When this service came available, I tried it out by calling my cellphone in my dorm room when I lost it. The phone number always came up as one of these two, or it was also "private," or "withheld." When we found this out a few years ago, we would play jokes on our friends with voice-over switchboards (found online) of actors like Arnold Schwartzenegger, and later reveal ourselves, to tell our friends about this. The idea was, it would be hard to guess who we were, it would be impossible to call us back, and lastly, it is highly likely that person would not know about this interesting loophole in the Skype program.  It was funny, for these particular uses, but this type of software can be easily abused if some A******E uses it for numbers that they may randomly punch into skype for pranking, or deliberately to a person they wish to harm.

*first and foremost, if you call this number back, you won't get anyone
*and for everyone in here: the person from this number is not the same person, every single one of you on here has a different person contacting you.
*the only reason why the number is the same is because these are the numbers skype uses when transferring calls off the internet, through the phone lines and towers.
*These numbers are not easily trackable, but they would originate from a specific IP source. The difficulty lies in the fact they come through the phone towers and lines.
*If anyone calls from this number, and its not a family member, friend, business partner, or client, then its probably a random con artist, prankster, or somebody you know who doesn't like you.
*the latter of the 3 I would take most seriously
*if they are speaking a different language, then it could be a scam artist overseas, involved with paypal scams, or just some kid down the street trying to [***] his neighbor.

When you answered your phone it could have triggered some sort of triangulation and they found your address and they could have just gone from there, whatever you do, do not pick up when this number calls you.

I was called today around 10:30a.....and all throughout the day until around 5p This guy named "Travis" said that I have been selected for a government grant of $10,000, and that all I had to do is send a money order of $99 to a charity, that will sponsor a child in Africa. He said that he would give me the name when I called him from the Western Union store. He also stated that I could just give him my account number-even if there is not enough for the $99-and they would just credit the $10,000 in "minutes", and I could just pay the $99 from that. Thank God that I have training in fraudulent activity, because any other person may have been eager to give up their information!

Ok, let's try to make this clear...

People have had bad experiences with callers from this number.  It is not organized crime, scam artists, etc.  It's a number assigned when people make Skype calls.  Yes, some people abuse it.  That does not mean everyone who calls from it is doing so.  Please understand, if someone in New York crank calls you from this number using Skype, that doesn't mean your cousin in Los Angeles who's calling you on Skype is the same crank caller because the number appears.

Seriously...

Why is this person calling me?  Please stop it now!

Although it certainly is possible to be the victim of fraud, if you give out personal or financial information on the phone when called by this number, and pranksters use it as well, any and all Skype calls come from this number, as reported by numerous other folks. So if you regularly use the service, be prepared for calls from this number!

i got a call from this number and he was talking all sexual to me i didnt appreciate it.... if someone knows how to make it stop PLEASE DO IT ALREADY

I was at work and got two phone calls back to back. The first one showed up as unavaliable. Because i'm at work i cant answer it and then the second time it showed up as this number. No message was left.

This is a legit number from Skype...  You can trust that...

I keep getting annoying/disruptive phone calls on my maintenance emergency cell phone from this number..in the wee hours of the morning. If you are reading this stop the nuisance.

Ive been getting 3 calls from this number from the same person called "Charles" he told me to come meet him at his store somewhere in Stillwell, Oklahoma. he told me and my workers that he was working at A to Z pawn shop and that we called him

called me at 1:39 am

Received a call this morning at about 4:55 a.m. I was asleep, of course. Anyways, they ended up leaving a voice mail calling me a "[***]". I tried calling the phone number back, and it didn't work.
