I received a call from this # at 9:38 CST tonight.  It sounded like the person was in an airport - standing by baggage area - I heard the "horn" sound right before the bags start to roll out.

From what everyone's saying, this number is from a company in Dallas Tx that is used by some payphones in prisons, airports, psych wards, rehab centers across the nation... some calls are from someone the person knows, while some are scams asking for credit card numbers.

call came in Hagerstown, MD and the person hung up on me.

I got a call from this on oct.24 at 6:05 p.m. 5 tymes ina row but I  didn't pick  up. Idk who it would be cause I don't got any family in texas,north carolina, or kentucky. And I don't kno got any family at an airport at a tyme,or a prison,physc ward or w.e. After reading a whole bunch of these comments,its a  lil freaky

This number is a number owned by SBC in Dallas market; however I think it is part of a trunk group that is used by numerous jail's around the country. Beware of this number and never except a collect call.


Just keep in mind these people have nothing better to do all day other than try scamming people.  They should be working on a chain gang or do something constructive.

this person is a scam!! he tried to sell me a iphone and said that surplus company on ebay was his but it wasnt! this is his email address surpluscompany@gmail.com <<< scammer's email>>> so BEWARE!!!!!!!!

Yes it is a bank of phones used by jail/halfway house inmates.

My daughter called me collect from payphone at collage in Norfolk VA it said i had to put it on my card so I did thought it might be emergency she spoke about 1 min they but 5.00 on my card yesterday then today i all so have a charge for 15.86.  now I have to try and fight to get it back.

got a call from this #. did not answer. vm said to press 1 to accept charges and enter card #; 2 to regect. i new something was not right. googled # and saw these comments. would like to know how they got a protected #.

Got a collect call from this number, didn't accept it.

ok, I found out it was my husband that was trying to call collect from a payphone.  The service is obviously run from another state.  It is outrageously expensive.  This number isn't tied to any particular phone, it is from a company is TX, I guess.

I am getting calls from 214-969-5489 and I can't find out how much the calls are.  I been trying and trying, and my phone can't tell me how much the calls are.  The facility told me they thought MCI was the carrier.  I called MCI and they have no record of calls to my house in the last 6 months from that number.  Please help me.  I am expecting more calls from this facility and I need to talk to the person but I would like to know how much the calls cost me per minute.  PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!!!

It show up as a Dallas TX #. No anwer and we try calling it back

My brother called me to inform me that someone familiar had called him from this phone number, when he called back the number was busy. The person lives in NY but the person call him from this number. If anyone read this be careful if you have a post office. Someone is sending to the postoffice letter stated to stop your mail coming in to the postoffice. Right away call the authority if this happens to anyone. I research this number and the information is not good. Please be aware that if you see this number incoming calls from your cell phone or house inform the authority and do not pick up the call.

I got call this # just an hour ago and did not pick up and wanted to check if someone had call too and I real surprised when I saw your warning messages here so many thanx guys...and yes I will keep my eyes open to watch this #

My boyfriend called me from this number.  Yes, it was a collect call.  Yes, I had to accept it and give all credit card info first.  You know why?  Because it's a jail.
IF I had paid attention to this forum, which I did at first, I would have never accepted a call.  I didn't at first, but then he called me using a card and I waiting for the operator to call me so I can use mine the second time around.
I knew something was wrong tonight.  I'm just glad I heard his voice.

this phone is a pay phone in the city of industry. it is owed by a company based in texas. when my husband and i seperated for a while he would call me for this number. he is a trucker so that pay phone was most convinent for him at the time

I got a call from the same number, 214-969-5489, at 10:12am. On my home phone caller ID it says it's from texas.  I tryed to call back and it was busy.  The strange thing was that my brother received a call from that number also,and the same day at 9:45am but on his cell phone.  No one spoke when he answered his cell.  We don't know anyone from texas.  

A couple of month ago I was receiving phone calls from another number and on the caller ID it said from texas also.  It was kind of a recorded machine with a voice of and old man.  It said the same message each time I answerd: sorry I got the wrong number, sorry.

Strange... Does anyone know why are we receiving these trange calles?

First I got a call from a man that said he was from Atlanta, GA, when the called ID showed, Nevada, then two days later same person called, and it was the 214-969-5489 number.  I will not be answering any calls that I don't know.
