same msg from +447879644227 not expecting any thing so am sure it is a scam

My brother received this txt askin him 2 call bout a package! told him 2 txt me their no: so i can check it out, cos of the scams runnin around.So i Googled it & found myself here, & not 4 the 1st time i mite add! If in doubt Google it out :) This website is now a permanent shortcut on the desktop.

I never ring these numbers without Googling them first. As it happens I actually ordered a Laptop from Dixons this morning and thought it might be related to that. Fortunately I found this thread first and clearly won't be ringing anyone.
Just for information the text I received came from +447919343961

Got a txt to call the same number, originating from +447833983690 (07833983690, 07833 983690), which is probably an unidentifiable pay-as-you go phone.
Any number beginning with +23 is West African and cause enough to indicate a scam.
Be aware, though, that a similar scam is about where you are asked to call a UK number which has a £15 connection fee. They are quickly shut down but just start up with another number.

Yup.  Got a text today stating large parcel deliver awaiting and call today for delivery tomorrow.  NOBODY delivers large international parcels on a  Sunday!!  Defo a scam..

My husband received this message today, 10 mins after we had left the house. We have been waiting for a parcel from China through E-bay for about 4 weeks, so assumed it was this. I tried calling the number and each time it said it hadn't been recognised, so hopefully I won't be charged any extra! Although I did call the vodaphone no. that sent it and left a voicemail (Bet they're having a good laugh).Can't believe we fell for this, as the E-bay details are in my name and not my hubby's . We even thought that the delivery person had been outside the house and had taken my husbands mobile no. off his van!!!! Of course then we noticed that there was no card left, so I googled in the no. and found you. I won't be caught out like that again.

Text which told me to call+23222270680   from+447765880078 telling me I had a large packet waiting for delvery tomorrow, call to arrange delivery. I didn't!!

Peterborough City Council's business regulation team is warning businesses and consumers to be wary if they receive a text message notifying them that a parcel is awaiting delivery.

A company is using the scam to persuade recipients to call a premium rate telephone number incurring costs of up to £10 when there is no parcel awaiting delivery.

Jane Day, Peterborough City Council's senior adviser and education officer, said: "If you are not expecting a parcel then do not respond to text messages sent to your mobile phone. If you are expecting a parcel then check with the sender to find out when it was sent and by which method."

People who have been a victim of this scam should report the matter to OFCOM by calling                020 7981 3040         or                0300 123 3333        . Alternatively people can visit www.ofcom.org.uk.

Had the Large Parcel Awaiting Delivery sms. It was sent from +232222706680.

Got the same text about the parcel as everyone else on this thread, 3 bloody AM in the morning on the phone that's used for when work need to call me out urgently. Well pissed off.

I had the message about 1pm yesterday 15th Nov.
I had left a message on the forum asking how much this might cost (page 5) I have now checked my BT bill on line and to my surprise the call from a BT land line has cost only a little more than I would expect for an international destination. please see details below.
If you get a massive mobile bill for the same call you can only assume that your network provider is making more profit than the scam guys. One guy earlier said he had a charge of £20 so whos the real scamers here???
