And One time left me a message that the call came from Law Office of Manbracken and the number is 866-213-6602 and the name was diane ext. 2947. It's really annoying that they calling my cellphone everyday. And sometimes unknown number was registered on my cellphone, same messages.

- AnonymThere are so many ways to deal with people like this. I do owe some money to Discover Card but about half what they claim it to be so I told them a number of years ago that I would not pay it until they corrected the balance. I have not made a payment since then so needless to say my credit is not the best these days. I have a number of good tradelines but the one bad tradeline from Discover Card has ruined my credit.
Here is what I did. When I told Discover Card to go to hell I turned off my home phone and installed Vonage. You can give Vonage any name you would like as they do not check it. I have never received a call from Discover Card or a collection agency on the Vonage line. That really pisses them off.
You will receive a lot of letters. The letters alone from these bloodsuckers should be enough to get the US Postal Service out of debt as they mail and mail and mail and mail. Then they mail some more just to be sure you received it.
When they could not get in touch with me they began calling my mother who is 82 years old and they would grill her. She asked several times for the to stop calling but we all know how well that went over. So stop them from bothering me I called them and gave them my cell number. I went online at the T-Mobil site and blocked their calls. The only reason I went this route was that I needed the calls to my mother to stop ASAP. The same day as I called them I sent a Cease and Desist Letter by registered mail.
To date my mother has not received a call from them nor have I on Vonage or on the cell after a few calls before the Cease and Desist Letter was received by them.
These people, along with all collection agencies, are blood sucking [***]. Cease and Desist letters are your best way to handle them. If you live in Texas or Florida you are in real luck because even with a judgment there is very little they can do except wait around for you to win the lottery.
I would suggest you get a copy of your credit report. NEVER make a payment on anything that is very old because a payment will restart the seven year clock. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER make a payment to a collection agency. If an account is five years old and you make a payment to ANYONE you have now added five years (from the two which would have been remaining to a new seven years).
The three major credit reporting agencies will not allow an account or resulting collection accounts to be on their report for more than seven years FROM THE DATE OF THE ORIGINAL DELINQUENCY ON THE ORIGINAL ACCOUNT. A collection agency will lie in ever form and fashion to get payment but NEVER pay them.
I recommend that you get a copy of your credit report and put it in a safe place because when seven years has passed as I noted above, the original debt and all tradelines from all the bloodsucking collection agencies will be deleted but without this credit report you may well have trouble proving when the original date of delinquency happened.
Lately, remember no bank, no credit card, and no bloodsucking collection agency is your friend. They will stab you in the back to take your money even if you do not owe it to them.
NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER pay a collection agency. BLOCK them and Cease and Desist letter them. Really the only power they have is to make threats. In most states that is the only power they have. What good is their judgment if you can't pay it? Don't let the bloodsucking [***] intimiate you into making bad decisions.
Thank you and if you need any more information please feel free to email me at massagewhore3@yahoo.com. This is clearly an account I created in order to receive messages from here. I am neither a message therapist nor a [***] or any combination of the two but it will certainly throw the bloodsucking [***] from this thread from finding out who I am.
Take care. - jazmothey call me every morning at the same time 8 30 and i dont answer.. they never leave a message. this morning they left a message but it was only creepy sounding elevator music but it was weird.
- MARIA ANDRADEThey say they are an attorney office collecting a debt for Sallie Mae.
- ugh~It's a legit law firm. I know this because of my Target Credit Card that I got really behind on paying. When I called Target to set up a lower monthly payment, they said it was too late and I was already sent to a law office or whatever and it was Mann Bracken and they gave me the number to call them to set up a payment with them so I wouldn't have to go to court. I'm paying it off through a debt consolidator every month, but Mann Bracken still calls every month the day before my payment comes out automatically.

- BigbirdCalled last night and I was on the phone so didn't switch over; called again today while I was at work.
- JLLMy turn to comment. These people are calling from Mann Bracken (also known as Wolfpoff & Abramson). They are a harassing collection agency out of Georgia. Rude from the start. For me, they are collecting on a debt I owe to Target; I made arrangements Aug. 08, paid 1/2 of the debt and am paying $150 each mo. for a yr. and by then they will be paid off...in full. HOWEVER, this still isn't good enough for them because now they call everyday, leave no msg. but their on my caller ID. The one time I did answer because I was curious, they demanded all money owed. I explained the agreement. Here's my mistake, they asked if I got any of what I was saying in writing; loop hole, don't make this mistake if your going to work with them, ask for anything you agree to in writing...up front. What they told me was they would not a loan company and wanted all money due. Too bad I'm working on paying this debt, make the monthly payment and will continue to do so like I told them I would back in Aug. 08. Their extremely rude, very curt and unprofessional in their manners while speaking in a very condesending way. Good luck to anyone who has these hound dogs after you and you want to do the right thing. I know I slipped up....but once you do....you just can't catch a break.

- AnonymYou are not doing yourself a favor when you make arrangements with a collection agency; this one or another. An attorney working as a collector is normally an attorney who is not good enough to make it as a normal attorney would do. If he collects for anyone other than himself he has to abide by the same rules and regulations as does any other collecting agency bloodsucker. Lawyers, as a rule, are one of the lowest forms of life on the planet and a lawyer who is so bad at his trade that he has to stoop to writing letter "demanding" payment is even lower than most lawyers.
Again NEVER NEVER make a payment to a collection agency. Never talk to them on the phone. Never admit to a debt. Get anything and everything in writing. Again, a collection agency is not your friend. They will do anything and everything they can think of to collect money from you whether it is legal or not.
Best way to deal with a collection agency?? CEASE AND DESIST!!! That will stop them. - AnonymYou would also be doing yourself a favor by checking the SOL in your state. The time varies from state to state but it is often three or four years although some states have longer terms. It has normally be thought that the time begins from the date of first delinquency although some collection agencies will say it begins with the charge off date.
The Statute of Limitations is a date that will give you protection in court. The collection agency bloodsuckers or an attorney take you to court in order to obtain a judgment. NEVER IGNORE THIS as the court will almost always enter a default judgment for the creditor or the bloodsuckers if you fail to appear.
If the Statute of Limitation has passed all you need to go is appear in court with proof that the time has passed and 99.999% of the time the case will be dismissed. NEVER MAKE A PAYMENT on a debt if it is old because payment, even one cent, will reset the SOL timeframe.
If the SOL has passesd that does not mean that the bloodsuckers have to stop their collection activity it just means that it is too late for them to obtain a judgment against you in their attempt to collect on the debt. CEASE AND DESIST are in order here. Really just what is a collection agency bloodsucker to do if he can't threaten to sue you, cant call you and cant send you endless letter. Let him continue with his collection activities as he wants and HOPEFULLY he will violiate the law you YOU can sue HIM.
Keep good records, very good records and tell these bloodsuckers to go to HELL where they will finally be. - SKThey keep calling me about a guy named juan rivera. Sometimes when I pick up there is nothing. I called back and the lady got all mad at me that I was not juan rivera. These peolpe are very freakin annoying
- cherokeeThe [***] keep calling me every day and playing classical music on my answering machine. When I hang up and then pick up the phone again the music is still playing. What happens if I have to use my phone in an emergency and those [***] are tying up my line with their childish [***]? What they are doing can not be legal. I am calling the phone company tommorow and then going over to my local police department to report it.
- cherokeeI have been reading the comments on this site. Could someone tell me how to go about writing a cease and desist letter? Also Does someone have the correct address for these idiots? Thank you.
- Do Not CallKeep in mind that they may call and leave a message with the wrong name to get you to call them back... Also I have had calls 1st call ring once then a 2nd call right after, to make you think it is a friend.
- Ken in SFThis number keeps calling and asking for Frank Kim, 4 times today alone. I never heard of the man.
- REMCalled today but left no message. We owe money currently, are nearing bk and based on my research, it is a collection service based out of MD. It is the phone # of "Mann Bracken" which is the result of a recent merger of 3 collection law firms. Apparently they resort to strong arm tactics to collect from debtors. When I called them back, the individual didn't want to identify the co. he called from before I gave him my blocked phone #, however, he answered the phone and said that the call was on a recorded line and finally identified the co. as "Mann and Bracken Law Firm." I said thank you and hung-up.
