This call is from Google. Giving me an adsense phone number confirmation number.

i received a call from this number, 310-928-7055. i also posted an ad on craigslist which stated i needed a verification number/four digit code. as for me it was no problem or issue as i was expecting a call as outlined in craigslist procedures.

I too received a call from this number at 10"40 PM giving me a code. Who is doing this and why?

I was on Google and had just clicked verify to verify my business listing and then the phone rang with a code...I needed a "pin" and did not know what to put in there so I thought maybe that was the pin number they were giving me. It wasn't, but I believe it was too coincidental for it not to have been google calling.

I received phone call from with caller Id: OUT OF AREA without any phone number but person calling mentioned that they are verifying if we receive ANY MARKETING CALLS UNSOLICITED. she says FCC has got a system to stop any more unsolicited call and In next call computer provide 5 digit  verification code which she wants to know. I asked why she is asking the code her computer system is generating, she told to verify that number is correct one. Then I received call from caller Id: 310-928-7055 saying it is from crieg list. I informed her about the 5 digit code, she says it is correct.

I verified later in FCC site , I do not find any such project to provide consumers with system. Now I am worried whether some fraud in under way and how far my information is compromised.

I advise others who receive such calls next time, try to track them and inform either FCC OR FTC OR state attorney general if it sounds like fraud.

I 1st got a call from (973) 8553171 stating they are the DO Not call  Registry.They said I will get a automated call from (310) 9287055 soon with a code I have to note and give them--I did that, unaware its all a scam---the FBI/FTC should do something since there are endless complains online for these numbers.

Its a scam -needs to be reported to the FCC/FTC---somewhere in the message, it does mention Craigs list-the original caller( 973) 8553171 took the password obtained from this number from me claiming they are from the Do Not Call Registry.

I received a call from this number to receive a validation code for signing up to Google Local Business Center which was legitimate. I imagine what's happening to those being called for the code is that the callers are trying to set up sham Google Local Business Center accounts and using your phone number to do so. I would try to find some way of letting Google know what is going on.

I believe it is google calling with verification codes for certain parts of their services.

This is a number from Google Local Business Center.  It called me to give me a PIN code to verify information I entered onto Google's Business Center.  Unfortunately, the recording only says the code, which can be confusing.  The web page DID state:  Google is calling you now to give you a PIN code for validation of your data entry...

This number 310-928-7055 is from Craigslist, Craigslist uses this number through is computer to verify that a website user really want to use there service and to verify email address info.

Generally these calls are legitimate. But mischievous persons could hypothetically use the service to harrass some folks.

The 310-928-7055 number is from CraigsList.com (CL).  Whenever someone places a post (ad) on their website, CL needs to confirm they are for real and not scammers.  Therefore, CL asks them for their "personal or home" phone number & instructs them to enter a PASSCODE into their website to allow them to advertise.
It appears that lots of scammers or dishonest persons are giving your phone number and hoping to bypass CL's security process.  So, now you have it.

The 310-928-7055 is a Craigslist verification phone number, giving you a verification code for your phone number. Although they only used to verify erotic ads, they now verify all service ads. I've been posting on Craigslist for more than 5 years, and although they verified numbers several years ago when setting up a Craigslist account, they are now verifying all of their accounts again. It's a security measure, both for them, and for the poster. They want to know that each poster on Craigslist can verify their phone number and corresponding Craigslist account (ID and password).

Its from Craigslist, its sent to you if you changed your ad.

Typed my number and a recording called and gave me a code typed it in the wanted a cover letter and resume. Cover letter saying why I would be good for the job... yada yada. I stopped there and googled the # and found this site. Hope nothing comes of it!

I encountered the use of this same number used in this way. I went through the process to see what would happen smart / dumb thing to do, I don’t know.

There was a trick scam that was collecting credit card numbers and they shut down their operation and recently the same people set up a new one where they seem to be collecting phone numbers ? I don’t know but they are using the same 1-310-928-7055 number, a conformation number service?

Guessing that the conformation number helps them know your number is real?

I just received the call froma man stating his son was playing with his keyboard and my phone # was acidently entered into his craig'slist.  He said I will be getting a call and ask me to write the passcode they give me and give to him.  I wrote the passcode down but didn't answer his call when he called to get it.
