That's not true it reactivates your Craig's List acct

Guy who spoke said he's calling from Telephone Company, from India. Then said he's calling for BELL to see if the network coverage is ok in my area. He sounded Indian. Asked me if I was from India too.
I hope I'm not scamed. Can't Craiglist do something?

This call was to confirm a google account creation. They gave an activation code.

I just set up my business name on Google Business and for it to be complete they have to verfy the number I got the call right after I filled out my information I am sure that Craigs list may use the same company to verify numbers since I my business has nothing to do with erotic services and I have never set anything up like that on craigslist

When you open an account w/ Craigslist, Craigslist wants to verify that you have a valid phone number, so they call you on your phone and give you a 5 digit code to enter in your application for the account. This way, it cuts down on con men opening up Craigslist accounts w/ random phone numbers. They open them, so they can try to con people w/ phony ads. Don't worry, there not stealing your identity. They just need a number that someone answered, so they can open an account. Usually, they call from another number, w/ some story on why they need the number, so you give them verification number. They then complete the application and start putting up bogus adds. The 310 number is a legit Craigslist number, but the number they call you from is usually a Skype number (ex.615) or something like that, because they're calling from Nigeria, India, or somewhere. Even though it doesn't directly hurt you, it hurts Craigslist and the people who use it, so, just ignore it.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like the person was trying to get you to give up the security code so that they can make a purchase or sign up for something.. It is good that you didn't provide the code.

You should report it to support@telesign.com. They actually provide the backbone of the call verification service. However, it is unlikely that they will be able to help since it sounds like the fraudster that tried to scam you who they don't have any control over. If it was a merchant doing it, then they might be able do something about it.

When u try to open Gmail Acc ,at the end ask ur phone no for verify,and than send u a code to that phone no,when u get that code,in the next page u must put that code to create ur Acc BUT u can use that phone no just once,it means if u want open 2,3....Gmail Acc u must have other phone no, and some people use friends phone no to get that code to create Gmail Acc.I hope u anderstand now.

I got a similar call pretending it to be from FCC to block unwanted sales calls, followed by the automated call from 310 928 7055 giving a 5 digit number BUT at the end of the call it clearly stated that if you are not validating a craiglist account ignore this.So when the lady called again (from unlisted number) to ask for the 5 digit code, I refused.In my case she threatened that my phone would be blocked in 24 hrs for refusal to give the number.When I refused again she threatened to sue me since I was refusing to do something I had agreed to.She kept calling over and over again about 10 times and once left a message on my voice mail saying..will sue you...idiot.

This is a number that verifies listings in Craigs List. It was trying to give you a code. Someone may have been using your e-mail address.

This number is used by Google to confirm account information when someone creates a GMAIL or Google Earth account. To activate you must provide ether a SMS or Phone number, Once you receive the code you enter it in to the web page.

I can only imagine that some people may be entering the wrong phone numbers into the web page, or possible using this to annoy others.

A call from this number came with a 5-digit Craig's List registration number that I did (which I did not request) after being asked by a "supposed" Do Not Call Registry employee whether or not I was receiving any unsolicited telemarketing calls.  This so-called employee knew my name and had the appropriate phone number.  I was told that his manager would check back with me in another month to see if I was still telemarketer-free; however, in the meantime, they were going to give me a special account number to record any such calls.  He was going to hang up and a call would come in the next 30 seconds with this special number.  After I recived this number, he said he would call back.  

Wekk, I recived a call from 310-928-7055 from Craig's List in about 2 minutes, giving me an account registration number.  I received a call back from the phony Do Not Call employee asking me to verify the 5 digit number for him.  


This is an obvious scam to open a Craig's List account in my name and by using my phone number.  I hung up on him.  By the way, the scam artist's caller ID information was (line 1) NOT AVAILABLE and (line 2) UNKNOWN NUMBER.  Think he had something to hide?

This phone number calls you when you sign up for a Youtube account.. you imput your phone number and they call with a verification number that you then input into your account to activate. If you did not sign up for a Youtube account or maybe a Craigslist account, ( I am guessing they use the same company here ) then check your computers history chances are someone besides you... Or maybe no one in your houshould did at all, maybe somebody who knows your phone number thought they could open an account without being there to recieve the call, or maybe even aliens from space... anyways you figure it out. But this is what the number is... 1-310-928-7055 Compton CA.

This is a Voice call which gives you 4 or 5 digit unique number to register in blogspot.com.
This is to check the user is authenticated or not. thats it.
so dont be panic about this number.

this is an activation code number that calls you to confirm your information. The number put in was either an accident or someone submitting your # as a prank.
