mturk which is an amazon website to earn money online has jobs listed. one of them was for a cellphone verification website. Basically you enter your number and they call with a verification code. If you are getting the call without knowing what it is, then someone else must have entered your number instead of their own.

I saw an ad for beta testing an Ipad..test it for two months, and keep it for free..all we had to do was enter our phone number and our email..I'm still waiting for my email from them..I got the call to confirm my number and I got a confirmation code..from craigs list..I thought odd..but notmuch of it..so then I thought I'd search out the company..Beta-test INC. from Boston apparently..nothin came up for that..then I went back and checked the site closer..and there is a recent news section with comments..I tried to read them..not a link..just text..no can read comments..just a sham..the search box doesn't do anything but refresh the page..they say to email them for their phone number and only give out a few digits here and there and they don't even match with this one..oh goodie..now I'm worried..I saw this as an ad on facebook..they were looking for 5000 testers..first come first serve..thought wow free I pad! coool! I want one! yup too good to be true..now I'm wondering what the hell have I gotten myself into now..erotic listings on craigs list?! yikes! =:c that's not what I wanted!

Yea, I got a call from these idiots as well. They couldn't even tell me what city they were calling from, making up names of random cities in Ontario. That's when a bell went off in my head, I always ask where they are calling from and the address of the company so i know if it is legitimate or not. Anyway, must complain to the FCC about this. It is definitely a scam.

BEWARE!!! This is a SCAM!!! The number has been turned in to the Attorney General of The State Of California, Comcast, and the Craigslist Legal Department. If you have a comcast phone you can block the number by hitting *60 (star 60) and putting the number in. It is NOT A Number for verifying an ad or anything else. Be very careful and do not say anything when you get a call regarding this number. This number is located in Compton and has been associated with a group in India, Gambling Group, a Faria22 email address, a male with an Indian accent, and a woman on a dating line.

When you set up a posting on craigs list, in order to post the ad you have to get an activation code to finalize the post. You enter a telephone number to receive the code. I guess it is their way to confirm it is legitmate.

I don't have an account with google or craigs list and I keep getting text messages with codes and calls from this number it sounds like a hacker or a scam

It look like identity theft ,why they block their caller ID. when they don't fear something. If someone call
with unknown ID that mean he hide something.
Just be carefull don't trust all what you heard

It's a verification code process used by companies to confirm it is you posting the listing. Eg:Google, Craigslist, etc

Who ever is receiving calls from this number - please do NOT do the activation code.  He is stealing or doing something with your contact list if he reaches your cell phone.

I first received a call via an unknown name unknown number, a fellow by the name of Harris, however he sounded with an tinge of Indian accent he first asked if he could speak to the home owner, for this I asked who was calling and he replied that it was 'Bell Technical Services'  so I asked if I can I take a message? To this he replied assuming that I may be lying so he went on and expressed that my number has been reported and has received many complaints he also told me my phone number 905 8xx xxxx.
He said for them to stop this complaints and no cost to us they will have my number unlisted from the advertisers or the telemarketers, he also said that after this you will not be receiving any phone calls he would need to punch in a 5 digit code which when he puts the receiver down, Craigs List will call and it is very important that the 5 number pin is written down safely as his office will call within a few minutes to ask me for the pin code that I had received from Craigs List so we had noted the phone number supposedly coming from the Craigs List 1-310-928-7055, once the so called Bell Technical services had called again it was the same person who wanted the 5 pin code/number he sounded very official so I asked him that he must be joking as why his number is not showing on my display, he says that is because he is calling me from his computer, so I asked him where is he exactly calling me from same answer " Bell '', I again asked him before I give you any more information I would like his employee number and or his phone number I will call him and confirm the number, but he said wait I will call my supervisor so his supervisor - it was still him with a voice over of another person, I gave the 5 digit number in a reverse order and that he said thank you, but sir the number is backwards, how did he know about this I wonder?
Also we now get calls from so called ''Bell'' phone number  1-416-001-9213 they talk very rough and this time March 16th 2010 the woman says can she talk to the home owner? I asked why she says it is Bell do you want Satellite or a high speed internet services?
My answer was look if you are Bell then your mannerism is that of people who are looking for more information like getting a hold of our credit cards etc. I called this number but it says this number is only a one way number that can not receive calls.
We are getting many calls from advertisers after this we have even reported to Bell our carrier and let them know they said there is nothing to worry about, but it is a worry since we don't know what these people are up to?

I have since then been looking for craigs list to inquire as to what the deal here is?

On saturday march 20 around 8p.m.
I got a call from this number giving me a code
Immediately afterwards somebody claiming to be from  Bell Canada requested for this  code to enable them prevent telemaketing calls to my phone and I gave it to them
How will I be affected by this?
Is there any remedy for my foolishness(?)

310 928 7055 - This is a place that does verification for people downloading software from Direct 2 Drive when paying via PayPal.  If you keep getting activation codes, chances are someone put the wrong number into the website they are trying to download from.  I can verify that with this phone # only - I was downloading a game and did the verification service.
