Responding to a rental I have.....

Thank you for this website. Just got a check from James Kovac and a company in PA. Has anyone reported the scam to the police? The check is drawn on a US bank, is the check fraudulent? Has anyone tried depositing it? Isn't a fraudulent check criminal offense?

Thanks for the post, I found it by googling on the 'NORTH WICKPARK&ST.MARK'S HOSPITAL in London' - got the same OFFER this time from Dr. Stephen Register.

Thank all of you to post these warning, and I received an e-mail from him under the name of Dr James
Alixon with the same hospital address. I'll reply to him that I rented out this apartment, but I have some place available for him and his family: a 2BR in Hell with multiple fire places and excellent view to ....

              I come across your house for rent advertised on the internet and i am interested in renting it,please let me know if it is still available.I will be signing one year lease for this unit and will be staying with my wife and daughter,and will be willing to offer you 2 months rent plus the security deposit in order to secure this unit prior to our arrival.Could you be kind enough to let me know what the electricity/utility cost would be?as i will really need to have this unit to myself.

Does anyone know what we can do to stop these scams?

I recieved a response from a Dr. Jacob Sage from North wickPark&St. Marks Hospital in London. He was responding to an add I placed on Craigslist for my rental place. stating that it would be him his Wife Diana Sage and thier 9 year old daughter. with phone number 447024081502, requesting that I allow him and his family to move in my home on Sept 10th. I started getting curious when i noticed several words were miss spelled and a doctor with the kind of education he claims to have would not miss it.

I wish to report this so he does not do this to any one else. I will be calling my local police department and mt lawyer.

I am getting mail from the same jacob and diana sage....how can we report this?

After advertising on craigslist about an apartment, we got an e-mail from chrisfraser82@yahoo.com who wanted to pay rent for 1.5 months more than the lease and wanted to order furniture and have it shipped to the apartment. He said he was a chemist from a London hospital and was going to work for the EPA on private research. Bringing his wife and 9 years old daughter. The whole problem with this shipping of the furniture is this apartment is located in a remote village in Alaska. And the grammar on the e-mail was a dead give-away. My English teacher wife said no one with a PhD in chemistry would write with little "i's" and poor punctuation and sentence fragments.
Now we're seeing the exact text again on this web site. Thanks for your service, folks!!!

Just today got the same message from Dr. Jacob Sage looking to rent our 2 bedroom house in Gainesville FL! Thanks for posting this; we were suspicious but weren't sure if it was a scam or not. It seemed like it could be legit seeing as how this is such a university town and there are lots of international folks moving into town. We'll report it to Craigs List ASAP. Thanks again.

I got pretty much the same response on a rental advertisement; pretty much the same thing that Lovelae posted.  Not very creative maybe he used to work in Nigeria.

Got the same identical letter 9/30 but his name is now Dr. Marvin Slotte.

Dr. James Alixon.  I keep sending him emails telling him I want all of his personal and banking information.  When I don't get an answer, I email that I'm very anxious to hear from him, and he just resends an earlier form letter.  Maybe if I waste enough time, they won't bother anybody else for a while.

This is actually the second Craigslist scam for the same ad.  The first one was someone claiming to be a woman named Connie Glover from England relocating to the US.  Same scenario.
