I have also received several calls from this same number.  They say they are American Professionals and ask if you will be home on a certain day because they want to deliver a binder full of special discounts for 50-80 year olds.  I called the number and like others who received calls, there is no answer.  I searched the internet and per the white pages ( http://phones.whitepages.com/586-283-3000 )  found  that (586) 283-3000 is a Warren Michigan number which is leased by:

I called this phone number and no answer there either.

Today Brandy, from 586-283-3000, said she was from PROFESSIONAL'S
SERVICES and she wanted to set up an appointment to have someone stop
by Mon 2:00 PM 2/15/2010 to give me a free package of information. No
obligation for the first year.  I asked what in particular do your services
offer.  She said it was counseling on various situations seniors may encounter
or have questions on and it also gave discounts on perscription drugs.

I asked her if I decided to use their services what would be the cost to me; she
said no cost the first year and she didn't know what it would be thereafter. I told her to guess but she said she couldn't guess.

I said, o.k. what time did you say for Mon. she said oh, her Mon. opening was
just filled so would Weds be o.k.  I said yes but give me your number in the event that I'm not going to be home so I can call and cancel the appt.

to cancel my appointment.  It is called PROFESSIONAL SERVICE BILLING OR BUILDING
The different departments are:

Just got a call from 586-283-300 with caller ID showing "Michigan Call" on screen.  Answered the call and got dead silence.  Tried calling the number and got no ring and no answer, just silence again.  Checked the number on this website and found others are getting the same calls.  It looks like it could be a scam to determine when people are at home.  If someone does get someone on the phone you should never let them know your daily habits of whether you are at home during the day.  Back in the day when there was only one phone company it would be easy to get this stuff stopped but today with all the different phone companies out there who would one call to report the scam?  I know that I will not be answering the phone from "Michigan Call" again.  I just hope that they don't think I'm not home during the day and want to enter my house to do harm because they would be in for a VERY BIG surprise!

I have been getting this call everyday asking if I will be home on Friday @2p to receive a package.  When I say "no", they hang up.  I have been rude to these people when they call in the morning and they still continue to call back in the afternoon until I say "no", I'm unavailable.  When I tried to call them, the call does not go thru.  When they call the next time, I'm going to state that I will be home.  I want a face-to-face with these people so that I can report them.

do not call me if you do not intend to say anything or say who you are

I got a call this morning and they asked for Mr. or Mrs. and our last name. I said yes who's calling and they disconnected. We are listed in the phone book, they are definitely "phishing" for something!

Called today around noon, asked when I will be home so they can drop off a free package, they knew my street name and everything. They said they would come by monday and drop it off I told them I didnt know if I'd be here and they said they would try calling again some other time.

Call everyday. Same problem, they don't talk, they just hang up. I call, they don't speak. Should be illegal. Wish we had some recourse.

This is likely a probe to find out whether you are going to be home on a certain time/date.  If you tell them you are not going to be home, you become the target of a robbery.

Call and don't leave a message!!!

I got a call asking if I would attend some meeting thand said I would be out and then got the creeps about it.

Has anyone ever been robbed or anything that anyone know about?

My advice is for all of you to file a complaint with the National Do Not Call List.
Maybe when they get enough complaints they will shut these scammers down.
Khaida got it right above when she said the real people behind this are the "Professional Service Billing" people at 1-800-898-8282.  Real people answer the phone and when you say you want to complain about the annoying calls - they pass you on to someone who asks for your phone number to take you off the list.  As far as I am concerned that's a full-blown admission of guilt right there!  I refused to give them my number, but told the lady they could remove me by taking everyone who's on the National Do Not Call Register off their phone list.  I then filed a complaint against the 1-800-898-8282 and the 586-283-3000 numbers.  This is an illegal scam and they know it - they just think they know how to not get caught.  Pile on the complaints and it will stop.

Correction:
When they answer the phone, they say they are the Professional Services BUILDING (not Billing).

who are these [***]? how do they gwet number if im on a dot not call list? that list is going to have to do a better job in stopping these calls  the people who get these numbers are a bunch of scam artists

It happened to me also today.  If you have a phone service through Comcast you can block up to specific phone numbers.  I intend on blocking it and will let you know if it works.  I am sick of these type of phone calls.

Regarding 5862833000 phone number: Today my dear elderly mother took a call from these and agreed to accept their appointment to drop of their package of free materials.  I became upset because she has been scammed in the past and could not understand anything they said, felt pressured and said YES. The outcome of my attempts to call back were the same as those outlined here.  I called the 800 number provided by Khaida and they acknowledged placing the calls.  I requested that they do not call my number again. I also told them I was on the Do Not Call List and would file a complaint if they did. Their representative told me they are a NON-PROFIT and are exempt from the Do Not Call law. However, if you go to their website, they identify themselves as a for-profit corporation and sell financial services. Whatever they are, their business practices are suspect.
