Called at 8:30 and when I said "hello..." nothing. Called it back, it wouldn't even ring. If they were trying to find out if I was home? I don't always answer. Bring it on!!!

APSA is a non-profit corporation and can place calls to those on the Do Not Call list.  However, if you ask that they not make further contact with you they must stop contacting you.  

Tell the caller to place your number on their Do Not Contact list and note the time of the call and the name of the representative who contacted you.  If they call in the future, go online and file a formal complaint here: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

For those who might not know this, APSA is part of the same organization as Financial Services of America.  Previously, the free coupons and services for Seniors were offered by a company called AREA.  The idea of offering the services is to have the booklet, coupons, services, etc delivered to your home by an annuity salesperson who actually works for Financial Services of America.  

Essentially, they discuss the different benefits and services available as a means of learning what your 401(k) or IRA might be invested in and then convincing you that moving your investments into a fixed indexed annuity would be a much more prudent investment for you to make.

Additionally, the APSA name and the Taylor address were originally used after Channel 7 did an expose on Financial Services of America a number of years ago.

They also have a Tax Preparation Service that's advertised in Senior Living News and are associated with the Law Offices of Harold MacDonald.  The CPA's that review the taxes are actually very good and Harold MacDonald is an excellent attorney and a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Finally, the good rating from the BBB is because they don't cheat anyone nor scam anyone.  The annuities that they offer are very good quality products from top-rated insurance companies but fixed-index annuities aren't for everyone.

BTW.... when you call the number that appears on your Caller ID, you're actually calling what's called an outbound trunk line.  It's sufficient to say that when a business has a PBX, they have a group of lines that the outgoing calls are made on and a group of lines that handle the incoming calls.  When you try to call one of the outbound trunk lines, there is never an answer because it doesn't ring anywhere.  It's only used for making outgoing calls and that's the number that appears on your caller ID.

For the second time I have received this call... almost the same time of day....first call received about 5 days ago...never left a message though... have caller id so don't answer it.

You should defintely call and complain to the FCC.  I just did.  If we all start doing that they will be fined and may stop.

Answered - silence

Received call and silence. Called number given by Joe on 5/28/2011. Told them I wanted to be placed on their do not call list. Was placed on hold, and then got the voice mail of a lady saying to leave a message. Left name and phone number, and a message instructing them to not call my number again and that I wanted no further contact from them.

I got the same call-please stop by. I believe in the 2nd amendment and so does my family.

I got a call from this number and no one answered and I want there number blocked from my phone.

A person called me and when I said hello,they do not say anything.

This person called and hung up.  I wonder if they were seeing if I was home.

my daughter answered...they asked for my husband who was not home.  said they are "american professional services" and will call back.  i called the number back and it doesn't even ring.  real "professional" eh?

just called the 586-939-3810 number after receiving numerous calls from 586-283-3000 number.  Told a very pleasant Monica that I wanted to be put on the do not call list.  She said she would.  Time will tell.

same thing. got a call from same number 586 283-3000.  said 'hello' and they said nothing.

I keep getting hang up calls from this number and when you try to dial it back nothing happens.

Got the call today, 8/23/11. Never picked it up. They never left a message.

If it is spoofing you never know who they are.
Best defense: If you pick it up, hung up ASAP!
