Message was as follows: What's the present condition and final price of your Gumtree listing, best way to contact me is via email (mcraig353@gmail.com).

The SMS said the following : +61 428 465 117


I googled the above email address & phone number & came across this site.  Hope this helps others.

Received same email from a Julie Hamex also whilst trying to sell a car via Gumtree
Asked for my paypal email and my property address so her courier can pick up vehicle, found this a little strange did a search on google with that name and know have found that it is a complete scam

I'm guessing this person is from abroad and hard to trace but I hope no one gets caught in the trap they/she is setting

A Julie Hamex has offered full price for motor vehicle advert on Gumtree (sight unseen). An ongoing scam i believe. Her email: juliehamex001@outlook.com

We checked the phone number code and it seems from Australia. He didn't explain anything about what country we shoul send the camcorder he only wanted to get Pay Pal adress as soon as possible.

I had a text from the same number asking to reply to that email: mcraig353@gmail.com. And one from rivard thompson last week too. they both sent the same message and when I said which listing because I have two they asked me to tell them what listings I have.

Yep ... I also found this guy "mcraig353@gmail.com" emailing me today with the same message ... almost word for word.

So glad I did a search on the mobile number and his name.

I put my car on Gumtree and she sent me this email. I was so excited as I really need the money.
so I googled her and found its a freaking scam [***]!!!

Just beware they just want your Paypal account details.

Same number, calls himself Blake Bolton this time - blakebolton@btopenworld.com. He's been doing it for such a long time now that I am surprised there's no way to track him down.

Message felt iffy so i replied not interested. he then emailed again by that time i googled to find all this info on him and by gosh i replied with a peice of my mind advising that i will go to the cops if he didnt bugger off. its been 5 hours and nothing. Wohoooo just be very careful.

Claimed they wanted to buy my car - I assume they seen it on gumtree. They asked how much I was willing to sell it for and to email them at robertaspence2883@gmail.com

I wrote back and said the price in non negotiable and not to contact me again as this was a scam.

Second time this has happened so far, are there no genuine people out there anymore?

It looks like tomshedy01@gmail.com is doing the rounds on Gumtree at the moment.  So, sellers beware!

It's a shame he can't use correct punctuation or grammar as I'm sure he'd be on to a winner with those riveting stories he tells.

The best thing about 'Tom' is that his ISP puts him directly at Google Inc's headquarters in the US!

I got the same message about purchasing my car from carsales.com from a Roberta Spence - robertaspence2883@gmail.com.

Same details as everyone else about shipping to Darwin etc.
