Received a call from this number today, and just like everyone else i was told could take up to 45 mins. I asked if there was a better time i could talk to them as i was busy at the moment, and he said sure i asked who i should ask for and he said anyone will be able to help you. seemed very odd as the number came up from New York so i looked it up and this is what a find! What a shame... waste everyones time. this is only 1 of many scams i have come across looking for jobs on-line... i miss the old fashion newspaper and red pen... circle the ones i want and go there!!!! Anyone else who comes across this my opinion is dont waste your time... really customer service positions for 19.50 an hour... YA RIGHT!!! dont know why i even beleived it. Good Luck to all looking for a job right now!

    Scammed
After receiving a call from 646-520-0696, I called this number back and spoke to Alex. After reading the other comments, after the fact of the phone call, are true.  I even asked if he was affiliated with the University of Phoenix and he said "no".  He went on and on about education.  I would suggest anyone who is applying for a job, especially if it is through "Career Network", I would think twice. In my opinion, this is nothing but a way to try to get people to sign up for online classes.  If you are out of work as I am, you don't have a way of paying for an online education, especially with the University of Phoenix.  They called within 30 minutes of me "supposedly" applying for a for a job.  I will be contacting the company that submitted this job reference to me. Dated 5/15/09.  Scammed.

I applied for a job on Craig's List, after that I received a call from this number, they did hang up then I called back, they told me that I would be contacted by an employer, that didn't happen but I was contacted by some online college, I told them never call back. I was stupid enough to do the online application, well in 1 week I have received over 1,500 SPAM EMAILS. I think it sad that people pray on others trying to better themselves or provide for their families at a time like this.

We don't have our hands full enough with job hunting, we need something like this to interupt our day.    They called on my cell phone and I can count on one hand the times I gave anyone my cell as the contact number.    Of course, they hung up when I answered so I was curious about who it was which led me here.

Rec'd the call from 646-520-0696..no message.  Called back girl states that this is Career Network and they have a Reservation Agent position available in my area.  I apparently applied in Nov 2008..It is May 2009!!!  She told me
the verification process would take up to 45mins so I told her I'd call her back!!  I knew this was a scam.  I am sick and tired of all these EMPLOYMENT SCAMS!!!  Obama needs to develop a program to do something about this!!  I hate wasting time applying and then getting these calls when I could use my time and energy pursuing REAL EMPLOYMENT!!!!

    Here'es my two-cents/ten-bucks worth...
I'm leaning towards it being another call center for an on-line edu mill as some of you have stated.
Heres how my call played out today ...
They initially called my cell phone (no message). I punched in the number on this site and read these blogs first as I always do now. I then *69'd 'em on my home phone to try and build more evidence against such 'Call Centers & Mills' that do nothing for most people except annoy and mis-lead people with false hope that a real job is calling. After a breif intro and short wait (<3 mins), a 'screening' rep came on the line.
    >She then described the job I supossedly applied for, but funny, I couldn't find it in the detailed tracker I maintain.
    >I played along - the rep pushed cont. edu. as expected - I responded that I only attend major Universities via my employer's tuition reinbursment program, so I wasn't interested in any type of external financial aid or on-line programs.
Suddenly, the 45 min call only took 5 mins (she asked only two Qs
    1.) My current edu. lvl.
    2.) My preferred salary range.
    >I then asked if she had my resume in front of her - She did not!
)I tersely said I didn't feel the interview could be effective without it and asked her to obtain it and call me back...she unexpectedly said she couldn't (legit recruiters/screeners ALWAYS have, and respect, the effort you put into your resume)!
    >I said, "that is not a problem, I would gladly remain on the phone and e-mail it to her right now if she gave me her e-mail address", as I have done with other legit screeners. She became apathetic and quietly said, " she couldn't do that either"...Oh-boo hoo :-(.
    >I told her I was cooncerned at her lack of preparedness, but remained cordial and simply asked her to , "either get it from the prospective employer and call me back, or, "come clean with me that this entire 'screening' process is simply a canvas for cont.edu. and financial aide products". Awkward silence ensued!
    > I heard her flip to the next page in her 'script' and she said, "good news... you have qualified for a second interview with the actual company Hiring Manager, and you will receive a call from him/her within two weeks"! She thought that would end the call and stop my inquiry, but I wasn't dome yet!
    > I asked to be connected to the hiring mgr right now because I had dome my part and agreed to put 45 mins of my day aside as she had originally asked! Of course, she couldn't do that (the legit screeners have done that for me, and two out of ten HR folks were at their desks and continued the call, which led to on-site interviews with actual people)!
    > I suppose we can all guess, had I said I was looking for college/fin aide, that the other forty minutes would have been with a 'college' recruiter (another call-center)...seems they are always available.

All-in-all, it sucks that such junk interferes with our job searches and gives some false hope that it may be legit, but, these blogs help gain momoentum towards shutting such practices down, and help get the word out there.

    Hope this helps someone somehow!

I just got a call from this number 646-520-0696 on my cell.  She said she was with Career Network and a company wishing remain nameless was considering me for a customer service representive possition.  I tried to get more some information from her of the location of the company and she just said about 25 miles from you.  I told her that doesn't help me.  She said it would take 5 - 45 minutes to varify my information.  I had someone coming and had to go.  She asked me to call back at the 646 number.  Now I am real glad I fallowed my feelings and researched the number and company.  After reading the other postings I am not calling them back.  I also have called my cell phone company and pladed a second password on my account.  I had a friend who was scammed by a different kind of scam and she is still dealing with the fall out.  Fallower you feelings they are your best bet.

I received this call on Tuesday, June 2 and went through the same crap. They asked me for 5 to 45 minutes of my time and I answered about 4 questions. I verified my name and address and she asked me about my education and I told her. She didn't try to solicit anything to me, all she said was that the employer was going to call me in a couple of days for an interview. It's a little confusing and scary that this is out there. I have never applied for jobs online and I think this was a lesson learned and something I'll NEVER do again. I hope they don't start messing with the other emails I provided of my references, that would be embarrasing. I asked the lady where and who the employer was and she said it was confidential but that it was, at most, 25 miles away.

The phone number is from New York and on the bottom of the home page says they are in Florida. The testimonials of satisfied employers that have allegedly used their service to find employess are from companies that don't exist... I'm totally going to look into this and try to do something about it. All we're trying to do is look for a job and we get this crap, like we don't have more important thigs to do with our time. There has to be something we can do, they can't get away with this.. there has to be some kind of loop hole that can get them in trouble from their "privacy policy".... these people are laughing at us!!
