That is what pops up on my caller ID. Portfolio Recovery IS a real company; unfortunate for them, they attempt to collect (real) debts that are beyond the time frame for them to affect your credit. The only good that comes from speaking w/ them is finding out what debt it is (if it's yours) so you can then have it removed from your credit reports to improve your score. -)

They keep calling and calling me. I never pick it up and they never leave a message.

jusf got phone call from them too my cell..who knows how they got number. alos against regulation for people too call cells to get a debt.

Portfolio Recovery is not a Jamaican phone scam. They are however a dirtbag recovery company. They have sent me letter in the mail and have only recently started calling me on the phone. They, like a previous poster stated, try and recover money from debts that have exceeded way past the statute of limitations. They are one of those companies that purchase debts, usually old ones, from other companies and try and collect. They of course add their fees to that old debt, thereby making it appear the debt was even larger tan it was. If they are successful they get paid a premium. The bad aspect of their actions is that they re-report this debt to the various credit bureaus, thereby damaging your credit rating. In my case, they are trying to collect on a debt I had over 15 years ago! That original debt was one that I had an unsettled dispute with the company over,and it was subsequently written off. Make no mistake about it, there is nothing beneficial with dealing with them at all. If you answer a call from them, tell them straight off you will not have anything to do with you, tell them not to call again, then hang up.

They call at 8:15 a.m and after 9:00 p.m.  There is never a message left but a lot of noise in the background, almost seems as if is a call center.  These are inappropriate hours!

This number 757 961 3544 keeps calling never leave message this is my work phone and don't know why they are calling.  Im on 24 hour emergency call for oxygen patients. They should not be allowed to call an emergency response number.

i just got a call from 757-961-3544 yesterday and no message was left. if it is Consumer Portfolio Services i had to deal with them in the past. they are RUDE and NASTY! since i wouldn't answer the calls at home they called my job muliple times a day. the guy went as far as to tell me i should borrow the $$ from a friend. when i said i wouldn"t do that he  told me to ask my boyfriend. i repiled i didn't have one and he got smart and said "so sorry to hear that, i wonder why." then contimued "that's not my problem, you need to send us $$" i had a police man (who was at my job) get on the phone when they called and he got smart with him too. i finally ended up filing a compliant with the attorney general. i would rather have a debt sit on my credit report than give them a dime of my $$$$$ ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent a letter and called to report that MY Mobile Number is not for the person they are looking for and yet they still call So I guess I will start calling them 2 & 3 times a day and just randomly ask for someone

Portfolio Recovery.  They called my phone today asking for a wrong last name. Don't know what they are trying to collect from me since my name has been changed for 9 years!!!  If I am correct statute of limitations is 7 years...

Just called they called me by my maiden name on an acopunt thats so old the company  and everyting else isn;t even in business.
I just listen for aboout 30 sec's to her speech and hung up. Good grief.

(757) 961-3544 is a phone number associated with Portfolio Recovery. This company is what is known as a scavenger debt collector. They buy old delinquent debt from years if not more than a decade ago for pennies on the dollar.

Get numerous calls from theses peeps. Won't talk when you answer. When I tried to call them to tell them to take me off their call list I got the MSG this # was disconnected.  What freaks!!  Guess the do not list doesn't work!  Grrrrrrrrrr

They called me and left NO message. My number is on the do not call registry and if they call again i will take legal actions against them!
