I just got off the phone with Verizon. They are blocking data on this phone so this # won't show up anymore. Which is fine on this phone because it's an old razor that my son uses. They said I wasn't being charged for any of it, but that it did go against minutes, so that is why I had them block it.

I have Alltel and have been getting charged minutes ever since I upgraded my phone. Since last June it gradually gotten worse and worse. It started witha  few calls to #777 every month and now it's every day and sometimes multiple times in a day.
Seems like rip off - they found a way to bill minutes and make more money. The more i dig into this, the more I find that not one person can tell me what exactly that number is for. They say it's to upgrade - but upgrade what?? I don't want anything upgraded and besides that - just what is it that needs to be updated every single day?

Hi, just got off the phone with All tel and they were great.  Said since my phone has had a block since nov that i was not using minutes, or being charged for these calls which are hitting the block.  One gal thought it might be a tether to the net or something but tech support said no and I was good to go.

I just got off the phone with a verizon representative five minutes ago.   My phone has a charge to this data number, 7770000001, every 30 minutes and has cost me over $500 in three months.  I have spoken to a verizon rep every month to no avail.  The others told me that the charges were for people calling my voicemail.  They promised to research it and get back to me but no word back.
Though I am the only one in the house and the phone sits on a shelf and I never, ever, ever have used data or applications in my life on a phone, she insists the phone itself is making some kind of data call every 30 minutes, because I must have downloaded some kind of application on it.  I didn't.  But I am changing phones to find one with no data capabilities if possible.  All I can say is, turn it off.  The only time mine hasn't racked up the constant charges is when it was off.
Check your phone for automatic application updates.

My Verizon bill that I have paid for years now, around $50 - $70 suddenly spiked to a whopping $1,300 in a single month....this 7770000001 seems to be the culprit.  I don't do ANY data useage, but my phone is racking up these charges....I think we have been hacked, people and I think Verizon knows about this...their customer service people are useless and don't listen....they actually offered to "settle" my bill at 40% off the $1,300, bringing it down to just under $800....are you freakin kidding me?  Oh, to get that, I have to upgrade my plan....my cell phone habits have not changed in 5 years and I go from $50/month to $1,300?????  Are you kidding me?  They won't see ANY of this money from me...as I did not use the phone at the times posted on my bill....sometimes in the middle of the night while I was sleeping!!!!!  I think there is a major breach of security with Verizon Wireless.  Right now, after some heavy persistence and losing my temper with the customer service people, they put me in contact with technical support and I seem to be getting help with this, however, it isn't over yet.  I have always been happy with Verizon and have been a loyal customer with them...I am very, very disappointed and concerned that this could be a major problem and Verizon's future may be in peril if they do not correct this problem.  If you are having this issue, I suggest that you persist and bypass the customer service department.  Can you imagine that they still wanted me to settle for paying 60% of this bill and up my services?  I did not run this bill up...it has come from somewhere or something else and they had better figure it out.  I will update this thread with the outcome of this $1,300 bill as soon as I find out anything.  My son and I are prepared to launch an action group if Verizon cannot resolve the issue and right the ship.  We are thinking massive media exposure and Class A lawsuit, if neccessary.  This is just wrong.  It is bad enough that my bill is $1,300 but their customer service people basically made me out to be a liar....and really gave me few options on how to deal with this problem.  Sad, I always thought Verizon was the best carrier...now I am not so sure.  When I leave them, my "friends and family" will all be going with me....some have left already.

I just got my bill $700!, normally around $150.  I noticed this 7770000001 as data transferring about every 30 minutes for a minute throughout the night racking up my minutes.  I spoke to VZ rep. and was told my minutes are from data and probably because I used VZ navigator or some other app.   VZ rep blocked all internet and the data charges stopped 9/13.

That's what we are trying to do and they plan to charge us $50 because phone not in original box, and $175 to break contract that is only two weeks old.  First charges were over 900 minutes which we did not use, we are in our 70's, at the amount of $285!!  It is a Verizon issue and a mess we are fighting to get out of.

My bill this month was over $500, and this number is showing up all times of the day and night.  I get on facebook every now and then, but I am never on 74 minutes at a time.  My normal bill runs no more than $50 a month.  I called Verizon, and they told me that there was nothing that they could do, however; I called back and spoke to a really nice lady who is researching this for me.  She even admitted that something doesn't look right.  I refuse to pay this bill.  I will be looking into taking legal action if this is not corrected.  I also questioned if anyone else had had this same problem and she told me no, but it looks like that was a lie!!!   I hope they can fix this.

wife recieved two data messages, when i looked under data in my review of calls they showed up, one from my son and one from sons godmother. Also saw one in other sons call log but does not show who they were from. Im guessing you need to beware, looks like pictures can be sent from yahoo messenger, or from facebook if you sign out to have messages forwarded by those programs. Make sure you and your children have not signed yourself out to have messages forwarded!

Our Verizon bill just hit over $600 for the overage from this number; we spoke to a rep in the store who got them to knock down 25% but NO; I'm STILL not paying almost $500 for a $100/mo line.  Spoke to someone directly today and they offered another 10% off but "we've already gone above and beyond."

Fine. I am declaring bankruptcy in the next few weeks anyway and they'll be MORE than happy with the 25cents they'll get in 5 years.

The 777 000 0001 started in 2016. I've had an old basic plan for 18 years, no data plan. Look at the origin of the call, you will see that this is Verizon tracking your location, for 911 or the government, and billing you for it. I actually told the CS rep this and it was not denied.  You need to tell them your not paying.  Sounds like this is a good case for a Class Action Law Suit.  Verizon also changes your plan without notice and won't correct it, you have to pay more for the service to get it back!
