    Left message on answering machine letting me know I could pay my bill online, and to call them back at this number.

    Don't have AT&T, never have.  This has to be a scam.

    Called at home #. Left message to call back with an acct number they provided and a reference #. Told message machine for me to call back and have credit or debit card ready when i called. WTF? SURE......

    I found a charge to AT&T on my credit card statement for $223.29 for AT&T*BillPayment.  I've never had AT&T, so I called the number listed.  After 30 minutes on the phone with incompetent people who insisted on my charge card number so they could research the charge, they could find nothing.  They passed me from person to person, then ended up disconnecting the call.  I called back - 8002882020.   I'm on the line HOLDING again as I type this message.  I've authorized NOTHING with them and all I can say is that it appears they have scammed me.

    This message is like 3 years later but oh well. Since its an automated teller if you call the number back it usually doesn't work. Alot of companies have a special number dedicated for automated calls

    That does sound like a scAm. I have had a call from this number (I have AT&T) they state : "your paperless bill is ready to be viewed, and will be due shortly". Nothing about calling back, that sounds shady.

    I agree with the comments made by  AT &T customers who received calls from 8002882020, I received Two calls yesterday, Useless wasted my time not responded to the calls.  It seems At & T is in a direction of landing in hell.

    I received a call from 507 237 8032 followed by 800 288 2020. I didn't answer either call. Did a location search & both came back in the same area of Minnesota. Must be scammer using AT&T name. Had thing happen with Bank of America. I fell for that one.

    It was U-Verse/AT&T and they left a voice mail reminding me that my paperless (email) bill was available and due soon.  I get the email which is all the reminder I need (plus, I've already paid it) ~ having the automated phone call was just annoying and unnecessary.  I blocked the number on my cell phone to hopefully prevent any more of those calls.

    I have 2 phones.  800-288-2020 called one of the numbers and a female with an international accent reportedly works for AT&T. They knew my name, my other phone number and stated my address.  Then they told me that the number to my other phone belonged to someone else other than me and they wanted to put him on the line.  I said no and asked her to give me her managers name and number so I could call them.  She tried to navigate me away from that but said I could call the AT&T 800 number se called from but that she could put her boss on the phone. I hung up.  Obviously a scam to try and get information and money. My carriers are Sprint and Verizon for phone and AT&T for Cable.

    I got message which tells me that "Your temporary password is XXXXXX. if you did not request a temporary password, call 1-800-ATT-2020".

    I did not do anything regarding my AT&T account like password change. I tried my current password to log in my AT&T and it works very well.

    I think this message if fishing  and I will not responding to it.

    Am I doing the right thing?

    It's AT&T. Nothing of my service has changed.  AT&T using it as sales pitch for more product/services opportunity.

    It's not AT&T, it's ATT.  And they are not the same.  They almost sound like they know what they are talking about when they offer U-verse upgrades with a $100 reward card (just like the mailings from AT&T you have been getting recently).  But then it gets fishy -- fibre optic cable to your house; they ask what you now pay; they match whatever price you tell them.  They are phishing for credit info when they ask questions that are none of their business such as what's your social security number, what's your birthday, suggesting 4 security questions, asking for a 4 digit security code.  If you play this far, you're scammed.  The real AT&T owes us a warning that they don't do this kind of stuff.

    I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. My credit card was charged 47.89 USD for the serve I dont know. I call them why I was charge, They just asking for my home phone, and then transfer to the bigining of the automated service!

    this number call me and left a message that I couldn't understand it. Then I called them right back and it was some company. I said what in the world. Why were they calling me but it was a machine?
