Tired of the Bankster/Criminals replies to DEBT COLLECTOR..I have a job thanks!
With all due respect to this idiot who evidently doesn't know how money is actually created in this country,  I would like to set the record straight, WE THE PEOPLE actually create the money, then we are tricked into thinking these BANKSTERS gave us a loan so we pay it until we can't pay it anymore.  We are bombarded with offers of credit, as we watch TV, listen to the radio, it's all around us.  Then they use their criminal ways to get it from us because the judges have all of their retirement in mortgage and asset backed securities - DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE, quit paying for something you didn't even get.  WAKE UP.   It's all digits, there is no lawful money in this country FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES ARE NOT LAWFUL MONEY - you can not pay a debt with a debt, that's why our national debt is climbing higher and higher each second of each day.

Just had the same thing happen to me. I pick up the phone said "hello". They reply back with a robotic/automated hello and it went silence.

I have been getting 5 or more calls a day and came searching for information
And found this. I am paranoid as I got with ID theft twice. But I do have a citi sears card. However it is in a legitimate dispute as they have been paid, got the proof and they keep denying their *OWN* Confirmation numbers! ! They keep saying a bank # was entered wrong one time. As they had everything on file for me to pay by phone that didn't fly since I had confirmation numbers and the bank account showing the money deducted.
Citi and retailers bank are horrid about trying to get money they aren't entitled to when they have been paid and paid off and canceled.

anybody posting on this message board saying that it's legit is a  part of the scam.

I have contacted the customer service line on a couple different occasions since this started and was told both times that I have a zero balance (which I knew), that there was no activity on the card, and that there was no documentation that anyone from either the customer service or collections department had been trying to call me.  I'm not sure how these scammers have managed to get the legit phone number to come up on the caller ID, but this is definitely NOT a legitimate issue, no matter what posts have been put up saying so before mine and regardless of any additional posts that may be put up after mine, trying to convince us that this is legit.

I received  eight (8) calls just yesterday with multiple  calls previously but have not answered  the phone and have not received any messages on my answering machine.  They are annoying and if I find out who they are I definitely will not do any business with them.

    Solution! (for me)
Since I NOW know who this is, (I don't answer "Unknown" callers) my home phone lets me put a personal ringer on specific numbers.  This number gets a "No Ringer" personal ring tone so it's now silent when they call, which is at least...at LEAST...6 to 10 times a DAY...EVERY DAY!!  They even called me on a Sunday morning as early as 9:09 am.  [***] woke me up!  They never leave a message when the answering machine picks up.  I can tell if a caller hears the whole message or not because it will stop playing the outgoing message right where they hang up.  This call always hangs up at the "BEEP" tone.  Sometimes other callers will hang up the instant they hear the outgoing message.  Others will hang up mid way.  Anyways...

    I have no Sears card
I have a debit Mastercard with my Credit Union
I have no outstanding debt with anyone
I CHOOSE to not have a credit card (I make a great living so I don't need credit)
I'm NEVER late paying on any reoccurring monthly bills
    No medical bills
    I am debt free!!

So why...do they call me?  This entity must be a robo-caller because it calls so many times each & every day.  Probably since I make a great living, they want money from me.  Um, not just no..HELL NO!  Not if a company does business like that I won't!

I'll make it a point to stop shopping at Sears...from this point on!  I'll take my business (& money) elsewhere.  If I need new appliances, I'll buy them at Lowes or Home Depot...WITH CASH!

For the past several weeks, I have been getting almost daily calls from this number.  I do not, not have I ever had, any kind of account with Sears.  I finally called the number back today and the robo-attendant immediately asked for my account number, which of course I don't have.

I pressed zero several times only to be told by the autoattendant that it "didn't understand" my selection. I finally punched in a series of completely random numbers.  Surprisingly, the next prompt came up to enter the last 4 digits of my SSN. Again, I punched in four random numbers.  The prompt then asked me for my cell phone number, which I did not enter.  The autoattendant listed one of the reasons was to "prevent fraud" - which I could almost swear was said with a smarmy smirk behind it.  By this time my brain was screaming SCAM!  I believe I pressed zero again at that point, or maybe more random numbers, since that seemed to be working.

I was eventually connected with a foreign operator who asked for my name.  I refused to give it and told her to remove my telephone number from their call list, as no one in my household has a Sears/Citi account.  I gave her my telephone number and she said it would be removed from their call list. I thanked her and hung up, as that was all I needed to hear.

Based on what I've read here, I doubt this will work, but time will tell.

This definitely is a Sears phone number. We called it to make a payment on our bill.  Sears uses Citibank as a servicer.  If you're getting collection calls and you know you didn't open a Sears account, it's possible someone used your identity. You might want to check your credit record. :(

    Similarly....
Same call, every day, same time of day. Pre-recorded announcement about we're sorry we couldn't reach you, this isn't a sales call, please call this number.  Twice I have called the # and spoken to someone and each time they tell me that there is no balance and they don't know why I am getting this call.   That doesn't stop the calls from coming.
Years ago when getting annoyance calls I had to file a police report and they could monitor my phone. Not sure
if that will work with a cell phone, but I did go to court and I did win...not any $ just got the calls to stop. I am not against doing this again.

I could be one of the nice ones, if you can tell me why I get a recording daily to call the number, only to be told
that I have no balance and they don't know why i am getting these calls daily.

Called 7/31 looking for a third party with whom I no longer have contact. I informed the caller, and instructed him to cease communications with me.

Got calls (rejected all) from the same number on 8/2, 8/3, 8/4 (Sunday!), and three on 8/5. The third time on 8/5 I took the call -- yep, asked for the same third party -- told the caller what I originally said on 7/31, asked if he knew what the FDCPA was, and instructed him never to call again. I have no account with those people, and now I never will.

    Annoyed
I have been getting multiple calls from this number as since I never answer 1-800 numbers I blacklisted it on my phone.  I see all the missed calls from them.  Then last night I got a text message telling me to call citicard regarding my sears account and gave me a 1-800 number to call.  I called the actual number on the back of my card.  They said that they had not sent a text to my phone and to ignore it.  I then called sears and they said that there was no account listed to my number.  Then this morning I started thinking about that 1-800 I was getting calls from.  I called it and it asked for my last 4 so I entered it and then it says lets try this again and asks for my entire number.  I hit zero for an operator.  It then said this call may be monitored for quality assurance.  It then hung up on me.  I called Citibank back about the number.  Told them my research showed it was a debt collection number for them.  He checked under my social and found no cards linked to it but my current Citicard which has no past due.  He said there was no sears card linked to me either.  I asked him about the number and he checked their directory and couldn't find it listed anywhere.

This may or may not be a scam.  But it is semi-annoying.  Thank god for the ability to block the calls.

if this happens and you want this to stop right away, let the phone stop ringing.....go to your call history, and click on the number that just called. after this is done, press the bottom left corner of the phone and you will get several options. One of those is "add to reject list".  Press that one and they can call you 100 times a day and your phone wont ring once.
