You seem to think that everyone that doesn't pay their bills has shopped beyond their means. Are you aware that 9.2% of America's work force is unemployed? I keep seeing and hearing that jobs are available, but I never see or hear where these available jobs are! It is rather pathetic that when people have lost their jobs and are forced to use credit cards to buy food to be able to feed their families and themselves. I only hope that when you lose your job, and can't pay your bills, that you will learn how frustrating it is to be pursued by a relentless debt collector who only wants personal information, such as an bank account number or social security number. When a credit card account is opened, the social security number is part of the application. Any legitimate credit card company will have that information and have no need to ask for it, but debt collectors (some of them) still bully people. I can only close with a quote from the Scriptures which reads "blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy".

If only more consumers would get educated as to how things REALLY work, then maybe the power of fear that people like you use over us might not have such an effect. Is this how you people HELP (by preying upon the fears of the average person)?

They keep calling my wires phone said that she has a $406.00 over due account 44 days over due she talked to someone they said it was a sears credit card we have one but not used in 10 years. They told her disregard the call she told them to stop calling and hung up.

There isa way to make the computer caller think it has a disconnected or a number that is no longer in service.  I don't remember what the keys to punch are but maybe some one will and report that sequence for us here

This number has been calling my cell phone for the past 4 months. I have never answered it so I don't know who it is but judging by others' complaints, on this site as well as other sites, it's a collection agency representing Sears. I have NEVER had a Sears credit card although I did receive a gift card about a year ago from the company I work for. hmmmmmm....I wonder....

This number calls several times a day. I have answered the calls, stayed on the line and no one comes on. They hang up.

Take me off of your list, I am on the Do Not Call List and if this continues, I will report you to the Federal Government for harassment!!!!!

they are checking to say its a live line, by answering you are confirming that.  Id also change my voicemail to the generic greeting, which doesnt have your name.

I keep getting called from 800-733-1116 but when I pick up, no one is ever there. I wouldn't mind so much if it would just connect to someone but it either remains blank or it starts making noise like when you leave the phone off the hook. It's very annoying!

I too am receiving several calls a day from this number. I never had any type of sears credit card and I too never hear anything on the other side when I answer. I am really tired of this and definately will be reporting them to someone for harassment.

800 733-1116 keeps calling my house phone and no one is ever on the other side of the call. It either hangs up or I hear nothing. They call several times a day and as early as 7:30 in the morning to as late as 10pm at night. How do I make them stop???

They never say what they want. I never gave them my cell number or home phone number so I just hang up on them

I am receiving hang-ups for my mother-in-law's account. I have no access to her account but somehow she listed my phone number. Thanks [***]!

well it is 8:am and the spam calls have started.

i never answer any number that is not know to me, and i get up to 10 calls a day from each of several numbers.
they never leave a message.

it should be a crime to call anyone more than once a year. as in jail time for the CEO and board of directors of said company's.

This is ridiculous. They call here several times a day and do not speak when I answer the phone. It is truly annoying, as I have no idea who or what they want. If it is SEARS/Mastercard/Citibank, like some have said below, I transferred my balance and have no intention of going back to them. They are to expensive, so they can stop calling me.
