Due to the current scam rate and the sophistication of criminal minds these days along with the technology to pull them off I don't see the problem with being cautious.

    AT&T Customer
This number is AT&T Customer Service telling you that your phone bill is PAST DUE. It IS very legitimate and actually a friendly reminder that in 2 more days your phone will be turned off. Very handy to know.
First you get an email, a couple days later you get a text, a couple days later you get the call from this number (800-947-5096), then 2 days later your phone is off. Plenty of warning I would say. LOL

It's AT&T.  I checked my account on line and underpaid my bill by mistake. They were calling to let me know I still had a balance.  It's not a scam.  They have a collections department that calls that is separate from the Customer Service department. One doesn't speak to the other so they wouldn't have a history of the call.  Incidentally, Cingular used the same collection service.

If you have concerns about your AT&T wireless account, I would recommend calling them by dialing *6 on your AT&T phone instead of this 800 number.

    Correction.

Dial 611 on your AT&T phone and deal with their customer service, including billing, that way.

Make sure you're dealing with AT&T and not some fraudster.

Have been called several times by 1-800-947-5096.  I missed the calls but later called back and it was answered by AT&T complete with their trademark theme song music.  It stated the call was in regard to my phone number and then asked for the last 4 digits of the account holders social security number.  I am not the primary account holder so luckily my info did not match their records.  The primary acct holder called AT&T and our account is current and they had no record of calling me.  That is a valid phone number for At&T however.  I don't understand how scammers got in to AT&T's system so completely.

I answered this on the caller ID it said it was Boswell Electric Co.  I answered to let them know they had the wrong number because I have I have no clue who the company is and so I answered and it was AT&T about a bill....that some dirty low down nasty sh*t they pulled to get someone on a bill....And I think it is illegal going to contact a family member who is an attorney (asst. attorney general) and ask her if it is...cause if they gonna pull dirty illegal stuff like that then I am going to play dirty right back and sue them....If they can't call me as AT&T then they are screwed....they already ripped off millions of people by charging stuff on their bills they are now having to pay back.

I got a call on my cell and on the caller ID it said it was Boswell Electric, I answered it to let them know they had the wrong number so that they wouldn't keep calling because I get stuff like that all time on my phones asking for other peoples debts.  When I answered it was AT&T trying to collect on a bill asking if my number was a contact for the person on the bill....That right there is some dirty nasty stuff they pulled and I have a family member that is an asst. attorney general for another state but I am going to be making a call to her and asking her if it is illegal and if it is well then AT&T is not only going to be paying back all that money they billed on peoples cellphone bills they are not going to get a lawsuit against me for trying to contact under another name that doesn't even have anything to do with a phone....If they had called me as AT&T I would have talked to them and made arrangements with the phone bill that i do admit is owed....But, Now they have just screwed themselves for being sneaky...They have not tried to contact me about my bill until now and it isn't even that much overdue....so I say beware when you get a call from some bogus company and it is really another.

its a scam when they call you and on the caller ID says it is Boise Elec. company....If they call they have to have it showing on the caller ID who they are when trying to collect a debt they cannot have unknown # and they cannot have it say private # it has to ID them as the caller with the phone number.

    Out of work
I have received approximately 25 calls from this number on my cell phone. From what I have been reading here it must have been AT&T. I paid my bill via their website just last night but got a another call today. Perhaps the payment hadn't posted so they kept calling. I never picked It up because I never pick up numbers I don't recognize. Just for informational purposes, shortly after that call comes in and goes to voicemail (no message left), another call comes with a toll-free 800 number

If that's true ... then why don't they EVER leave a voicemail??? Also ... if that's true, why would they be calling me incessantly, when I am not past due??
