    They called on my TracPhone which is not registered in my name (thought this would be a good way to avoid scams or sales pitches). They called twice.  Only the 1 (800) 947-5096 number showed up on my phone ID. I called and heard a rapidly speaking message  that sounded like "Verizon Wireless." (I'm a little hard of hearing, so it may have been Cingular wireless).  What galls me is that the 2  times that I called, TracPhone has to charge me for calling (which I can understand), but,not for some telemarkers that makes me end up paying for the call ! I am on the DoNotCall List, which is a farce.

    I have ATT but the account is not in my name. Are they still right in trying to collect money from me?

    We forgot to submit our electronic transfer we had set up, and AT&T called us to tell us instead of cutting of our phone service.  When needt check my account and call back the nice lady told me to just call the 611 number that is AT&T customer service.  I appreciated that they called.

    they called three times on 3/2/09 and once on 3/3/09, left msg about AT&T. Called once more I picked up and it was the same thing, a recording.

    The also called last week, same number, same thing.

    Been receiving calls from this number all week, was finally home to answer it today. I heard a recorded message stating to be from AT&T that we needed to pay our wireless bill-- with a phone number to call. I don't have an account with AT&T, but called the CallerID number, which WAS the real AT&T. They have no record of our number in their system, but helpfully added me to a list of numbers they cannot call, and promised to investigate why I was receiving the calls. It did sound as though I was not the first person to report this experience... If you call the number in the recorded message-- it is as many have described.. they want your social security info, phone number, name-- basically, it clearly sounds like a criminal scam to "phish" for your personal information over the phone. DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH AT&T.

    I receive several calls from this number each morning.  I am a t-mobile customer and am in no way or form contracted with AT&T.  There is no doubt that this is a scam.

    yeah this number is AT&T wireless about cell bill. They normally give me some time but my bill was due yesterday and this number called me today on my cell to let me know my bill was past due. my phone lost signal. 5 mins later my phone service was suspended.

    I don't have AT&T wireless, and never have. Nonetheless, I received "the call" today. I called back and spoke to a fairly nice and helpful customer service person. They have apparently been getting lots of calls from folks with similar stories. Although it remains to be seen whether the calls actually will stop, he said that he took steps to make them stop. He did ask for my SS#, but I refused and he didn't press the issue. His explanation for that was to see if anyone had opened an account using my SS# (identity theft).

    After several calls from this number, I called back. Got the female. She asked for my SSN. This is a scam for sure. I am calling the police.

    folks, i have received annoying calls from this number and several others.  poor blokes have nothing better to do to earn a few bucks - heck, they aren't even interested in whatever it is that they are annoying you about since they can't even stay on the stinkin' line to speak to you in person. TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM:  I have solved the problem though...you need to get selective call forwarding added to your phone service.  When these losers call - just add their number to the list.  Would love to be a fly on the wall when they actually get the fax tone from the local grocery store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I get a recorded message from this number every weekday regarding my ATT Cell account. I do not have, and probably will never have an ATT Cell phone account.
