This is in fact ATT calling. Here is the phone number on their very own web site.

    http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/mai ... utionId=KB63364

I guess the economy is so bad, they call every phone in the world to try and collect, even if you do not have an account with them.

I hate getting daily calls from them. I do not have an account with them. I will never have an account with them. They owe me money for my time in answering the phone and for the minutes they use on my non att phone.

I just got a call from this number, its apparently AT&T wireless saying that my address is incorrect. Which I did notice this on some mail, the mailman still brought it to my house anyway. It SOMEHOW got changed, not by me. AT&T sucks. Thank god I have less than a year left on my contract.

They also sent me a text a few hours ago about the same issue. STOP BUGGIN ME DURING WORK HOURS!

I received a call from this number on my cell phone.  After a lengthy discussion about closing out the account, I had been told that the phone would be out of commission immediately, possibly during out phone conversation.  This seemed odd to me, and the next day, the phone still was not turned off.

This matter is still under investigation.

    Smarter Than The Scammers
I've been getting calls daily from this number, claiming that I need to call them about my bill. Thing is, my dad is the primary number in this account, NOT me. After checking with him and the REAL AT&T, there are no outstanding bills on the family account. They also said they would be likely to send a text along with a message like this, and that the primary account holder would have been contacted as well. If you are a current AT&T customer, call 611 to handle any business like this, and DO NOT give the people at the 800 number your info!

After two calls from this # I called back. They stated they were AT&T and what could they do for me. I said "You called me". So the person wanted the last 4 of acct. holder SS#. This would be my wife, the BOSS. I felt I should not give my bosses ss# out but if they could they tell me if there was a problem with the account or is it a solicitation. I don't want to waste my bosses time with non-sence."I can not discuss the account Sir w/out the last 4 of the ss". Two stupid-visors later I told them I would be looking to change my service because they would not be releasing any personal info but no go

First of all it is not a scam.  It is stupidity in the largest form for AT&T and Cingular.  They left a voicemail at my home number, my wife called them back and the lady asked her for her social security number, unfortunately she gave it to them.  I called AT&T the number is good, but I let go on the man who answered the phone and let him know we had never had ATT or Cingular and based upon the many screwups on this and other blogs, I would never have either of the two if they were free. Then I proceded to tell him that whatever was being collected from the auto number was way below the amount of loss in public relations..........end of quote.

If its a scam, why does AT&T have the number up as a contact on their own REAL website? Hmm?

    http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/mai ... utionId=KB63364

Maybe hackers put the number on the AT&T site! Godless hackers! They want you to THINK its ATT, but maybe... just maybe its not.

Maybe this number belongs to the demon Satan. He's trying to collect your personal data so he can destroy God's country of America once and for all by selling your identities to sinners from Russia and China. And then Jesus will have no power anymore because Buddha will win and heaven will be a place called Samadhi instead, but no christians will be able to get in because they don't know how to enlighten themselves.. they pay their churches good time, money, and political support to get their pass to eternity. Enlightenment takes actual effort! omg!! We're all doomed!!!

Stop calling us oh satan's undead hackers of AT&T!! You'll doom us all!!!!!

I wouldn't give out any personal info to anyone who called me out of the blue.
But it sounds like someone is trying to make a bad name for AT&T. I can't believe they would do some of the things I've heard.

yes it's at&t with a reminder to pay bill. This is actually a good thing because if you get disconnected then it costs 40 bucks or so additional fee to get it turned back on.

This number was on my "voice mail" stating that it was important that I call about my wireless service.  I don't have wireless service.  I called several days later and got a live person who want too much information.  When asked for my SS#, I said I wasn't interested in persuing the matter anymore.  The account is not in my name, by the way.

keep receiving these calls even though cell bill is not over-due at all, even receive the calls after monthly bill has been paid (on time).  Have called AT&T numerous times to stop these calls and have been assured they will stop, but they continue to come.  Very frustrating as they call every other day or at least once a week.  AT&T claims they will follow up with me to confirm if the calls have stopped, but they never follow up.  Also, why can't AT&T use their name as an indentifier for these calls instead of "toll free call."    Makes no sense that a phone company can't use their own name on the caller id.

Just called at&t.  They said it could be from them. Or maybe other bill collecters call and not reply but first listen to the answering voice to see if it 'sounds' like me.  Eh?
After some more back and forth, I asked something completely off the wall and totally unexpected: 'Can you check and see if it is from AT&T?'  That threw him!  He stuttered and seemed to hesitate but said he would check.  I have NO idea why the hesitancy.
He verified the time of the call.  Then I, continuing to play the part of Captain Obvious, told him it would be nice if my phone displayed 'AT&T' when anyone from AT&T called my cell phone.  And I stated the reasons, mostly common-sense and from the posts here, it could be a scam, etc., etc.
I told him the phone or phones in the house would not be answered anymore unless they showed up on caller ID.  Then the usual 'thank you' and other innocuous nonsense before the call ended.

I tend not to answer 1800 numbers and started getting annoyed when this one called me a few times a month but it is in fact att just letting you know that your bill is due lol or on the occasion if changes were made to your account. when you pick up it gives you the option to pay your bill or speak with someone but if you dont answer a machine tries to leave a voicemail and usually fails so all you get is silence.

Got a call from this number last night.  I don't answer 1-800 numbers or numbers that come in as unknown.  Let it go to voice mail.  When I checked my messages, all I got was noise.  I do have an AT&T account with a bill that has to be paid this week, so it's very possible it was them calling.  But I don't need to talk to the person calling even if it IS them.  I just simply call *pay from my phone.  Much easier and safer.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA foreign... the address for this number is Johnson City Tennessee! These folks might have an accent but it is southern not foreign..... This number is AT&T and if you paid your bills on time you would not receive calls from them. Furthermore, if you don't have AT&T service and are getting a call from this number it is even MORE important for you to take this call because more than likely someone you know or possibly don't know HAS gotten a hold of your social security # and has opened an account in YOUR name. If you want to make sure this is fixed for you ANSWER THE PHONE.  The AT&T rep will ask for your last 4 of your social to verify that they are speaking to the correct person but never the whole number. I am betting they ask what your name is so they know how to address you... instead of just saying hey you.... person who is trying to call in about their service.... Dang people common sense... THIS NUMBER IS NOT A SCAM! answer the phone and get everything figured out so you wont get anymore calls.... the number 1 way to do this is pay your bills on time.
