- BobThis was a call from Capital One. I recently rec'd a new credit card from them and hadn't activated it (I was really busy and the card sat on my desk unactivated for almost two weeks). They were calling to make sure I had rec'd it and that it hadn't been stolen or lost in the mail.
I went ahead and called the number on the card - - - did not give my information to the people from this number - - - and activated it. When I did, the calls stopped.- Caller: Capital One
- MonicaI just received a call from this number. Did not answer because I don't answer unknown calls. They didn't leave a message. I do have a card from them, haven't activated the new one yet. They have never called before when sending a new card, so why now? I looked up their customer service number and it does say the 800 955 7070 is their main line to call. So not sure what that was all about
- jennyI have been getting calls from this number for weeks. I blocked it in my phone which sends it straight to voice mail. The caller never leaves a message. I just called it back and it was a recording for environment California and environment Colorado, there was an options to remove my number from the calling list so I did that. I hope it works. So weird that this number is so many things.

- Employee replies to swampyI would never give any information unless you know the person on the other end or you called them. Caller ID can be spoofed!
If I paid for a 3rd party service or used some web sites I could call you and it would display whatever number I wanted too.
The best advice would be to call the number on the back of your credit card and check with them. If you have received a new card recently treat it as a reminder and call the number on the card to activate it. - cynboneI recvd 2 calls from this # this pm. I did not answer since it was an 800 #. Instead I Googled the # and found you guys reporting this # as an "in house" scam. God bless Google!!!

- surfliquidSo I finally called them back. I had accepted one of their stupid 500 credit limit offers.. (last time I did it cost me 2,000... back when the hurricains hit central florida, 2004). Anyways, I thought it interesting they offered me the same deal agian. (and I know they are crooked) This time I wasn't going to authorize the card unless I truely had an emergency. I was told they were calling cause I had not authorized my account. I asked if there as a rule as far as how long I have to authorize the account. I was told no. The indian representative put me on a 'do not telemarket list' which I found strange. He said they may still keep calling for up to 30 days.. I should tell them I do not care to authorize it. These people are part of the evil banking system.. lmao... Just my story, hope someone may relate.

- Heather1031I recieved a call late at night from this number and I answered because I was concerned it may have something to do with my fiance deployed or my mother in the hospital. It was a recorded message from Capital One stating that there was a problem with my account and to call them back. I knew something was up because I don't have a Capital One account. My first thought was that someone had stolen my identity. I didn't call back because I went to sleep and forgot about it, but then a couple days later I got a call and answered it, same number and message. This time they said that my most recent statement had been returned to them... I don't have a statement to get returned. They asked me to put in my date of birth, I hung up. It's a scam I believe. They want your info so that they can steal your identity.

- paul replies to hhja111You can limit some of the personal information sharing with Capital One by calling 1-888-817-2970 and requesting that they "limit sharing" for 'our affiliates' everyday business purposes' - ' for our affiliates to market to you' and for 'non affiliates to market to you' .
You have to ask specifically for them to remove these as you can't just say you want to opt out of everything possible. - Marchttp://www.capitalone.com/contact/credit-card ... le_ZZ_ZZ_T_Home

- CalleeDefinitely Capital One - I called the number, thinking the feedback here suggests it really is CapOne. I don't owe them money, so I'm guessing they're trying to sell a product, whatever. Irks me that - although they may be exempt from 'do not call' (having a business relationship) - there is no caller name on Caller ID.
- Caller: Capital One
- DaveThis number is from Capital One, just logged on today to check my account with Capital One today and it told me to call (800) 955-7070 for further assistance. This number is legitimate but it is always a good practice to call a number listed on the bank website or the number on the back of the card.
- Caller: Capital One
- EricaI got the call from 800-955-7070 on my phone and my sons phone. They say they are Verizon and that I qualify for a $45 credit to my bill. It gives a link that I need to log on too. I looked it up and it's all a scam. Supposedly the site is fake. Luckily I never logged into the site
