(if you have a fax in your pc) turn it on these callers for several days.... gets rid of 99.9999% of these scam callers since they use an automated joint predictor dialer after three straight fax hits your number is removed until they sell it to another company repeat as many times as you need.... (it's kind like spraying harmful bugs with DDT)
these calls are plague and affliction- Caller: scammer
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DavidThat # is Capital One, and they want you to run up a balance if you have an inactive or zero balance account! If you ever phone an 800 or other toll-free #, they then have your calling #, even if it is blocked. Blocking DOES NOT work on calls to toll-free numbers!! Remember that before you call a credit card company, bill collector or anyone else who should not have your phone number.

- LAURI replies to hhja111This is not a scam number. Mine came up as MasterCard on the caller ID, so I ignored it thinking it was a sales call. They finally called when I was at the computer and looked it up.
I have a Capital One credit card and they had sent me a new card to cover the expired one. Since I rarely use it, I never got around to authorizing it, and they were just checking to see if I did get it.
For those of you who are ticked off that they could not give you detailed info, be grateful...at least security measures are in place. - Anna Di Gangithey keep ringing my phone. When I pick it up no one answers. they are most annoying. Their number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST.

- Mr DGot a call from them just now, saying they were from Capitol One... They knew my name; I got up to go to a quiet room in the mean time he was asking me for my date of birth to verify it was me. I missed what he said the reason for the call was, but I said: "I don't feel comfortable with this, I should be the one calling you" <CLICK> He hung up on me. Obvious scam, spoofing the incoming number as Capitol One's customer service number.

- ThatGuyMikeI have been receiving numerous calls from this number for some time and today was the first time I have been able to answer. It was Capital One, with whom I have an account, and they were calling to offer me an insurance plan on my card. After answering three questions flatly (yet politely), I told the caller I was not interested. I answered their follow up question, and then they thanked me for my time and patronage to the card.

- swampy| 1 replyIgnore the people that say this is a scam, this is indeed a Capital One phone number. I had an issue on my billing statement and called the 800 number on the statement last night. After explaining my problem and putting me on hold, the customer rep asked for my number so she could look into the issue and call me back. A half hour later Tiffany called me back from this number and not only did she solve my problem, but credited my account $40 because it was an error on their part. My first good experience with Capital One ever.

http://www.capitalone.com/contactus/personal_ ... U1_C1_01_T_CUPC - 8009557070Be VERY carefull with this number!
While this may be the published number for Capital One, and may be the number they will use to call you for some purpose or another. Scammers use this number and the number of many other banks to trick you into getting your personal information. The only time you should ever give out account numbers, social security numbers, and birth dates is if YOU CALL the published number from your official bank statement or from the back of your card. You even have to be carefull about a number you find on the internet because those can be spoofed.
Scammers use these published numbers to get you to release your personal information, and the next thing you know, you are a victim of identity theft. This is no joke.
Never give out personal information to ANYONE who calls you. If you think there is a reason that you must communicate with your bank, you must call them directly.- Caller: They say Capital One.....But it's not.
- donna rainge| 1 replyKeep getting calling getting calls and no voice mail
- gg replies to donna raingeI have been getting this call for days and there is no one on the other end. I think it's auto dial and they don't pick up quickly enough for impatient me.
Finally today, there was someone on the other end.

- Janne| 1 replythis is capital one who has called my 15 year old son for months and months at all hours....55 times between aug 22 and Oct 10 and I have called them back several times to let them know that he is 15, doesn't have an account, we do not owe any credit card money we are not in arrears and that he has told this to the people calling him ON HIS CELL PHONE WHICH IS COSTING US MONEY ON TOP OF IT ALL! You get a recording asking for account numbers ( DONT HAVE ONE) and you have to ask for a representative about 8 times before they will give you to a live person at the call center ( I don't think it is even in the US!!) then they ask for my 15 year olds social security number(like hell they are getting that!!) and they read off a script about how they "understand my frustration" and that his number will be removed within 72 hours and then they just go right back to calling
him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T PUT CAPITAL ONE IN YOUR WALLET, THEY ARE IDIOTS- Caller: Capital One
- Call type: Debt collector
- goca cI got the same "shtick" Lady said she is calling from Capital One and gave me last 4 digits of my card, but need to check my date of birth. When I told her that if she is from Capital One she should not be asking this que asking this question she disconnected the call...
- shelley replies to SimonBe careful...even if the number shown on the caller id is capital one, the number would be a spook. There are ways that someone can call you and make any number show on your caller id. Best thing to do is to tell them that you will call them back at the number shown on the back of the card.
- JackCapita one f****** Sucks!
- swampy replies to JanneSounds like your sons idenity might have been stolen, and get a better cell phone, if you are paying for incoming calls you are just getting ripped off.
