I received three calls from this number over three days.  No messages left.  I called the number back, and was asked to enter my 16 digit account number.  I did not (kept pressing # until I got a CS rep).  I talked to the gentleman, who asked for additional information.  I did not give him any, and instead hung up and called the number on the back of my card.

The rep that I spoke to at *that* number said that yes, 800-955-7070 is a CapitalOne phone number, but that they do not make any outbound calls from that number, and that there were no notes on my account regarding having called me or needing to contact me.

It sounds like Caller ID fraud to me!!

It's a scam.  Do not release your information over the phone.  Just because your caller ID says you are receiving a call from this number DOES NOT mean it originated from there.

Remember.  Anyone can post comments here...anyone that says this is legit is in on it.

This number has called me around the same time everyday for the past 3 days.

Just got call from 408-651-8128.
Ya think it's just a coincidence I keep getting these calls on the same day each week (i.e. the same day I got the first one from 727-712-0382 on)?

That's a rhetorical question folks. We're being targeted.

It's a SCAM!!!!! Do not call back or if you do DO NOT give them any personal or bank account info.

I called Capital One's 800-955-7070 and talked to a rep. She said she does not know why I am getting calls but that Capital One has me eligible for rewards and other offers and I am on their telemarketing list. I have signed up for the "Do Not Call" list and told them so. I asked them to stop calling me and to take me off the list and she asked for my telephone number and last 4 of my social. I declined to give her the info and she said they can't take me off the list unless I give them the info. I asked to speak to her supervisor and was put on hold for approx 10 minutes and I hung up.
I would not give out my info to them.

this is a solicitation for capitol 1. I just called them to have my number removed from their list and they said it would take a few weeks to remove it. Be careful giving into to anyone calling on this phone # as it is just a call center.

It's not surprising if the # that shows looks legitimate but isn't. If I remember correctly it's possible to fake #s when making internet calls. I think there's an alert on the FBI site about that.

Just missed call from this number and bet it is some type of telemarketing scheme.

SCAM....SCAM.....got call from 8009557070 at midnight, asked for personal information to verify the account

Get calls 3-4 times a day. Answering machine answers, but a message is never left.  We have a Cap. One card with no balance.

It's a scam trying to get personal info.  I told the guy I didn't have a CapOne account and he basically hung up.  He was trying to get me to sign up for fraud protection of some sort.

I finally called this number back and gave them a card number of 1111111111111111. they connected me to a person that talked and he claimed to take me off the list. Let see what happens!

they call 8-9 times a day.  we work and when we get home I don't make time to call everyone on the caller id...no message.  just calling.  Very odd.

Capital One - trying to sell another service for a fee

Have been getting several calls a day from this number for the past few days. I don't answer and they don't leave a message. I do not have a Capital One acct.

It is a total scam.  Caller ID can be spoofed/masked, and if Capital One actually has legitimate business to discuss with you, they WILL leave a message.

Some of the comments on this site sound like they were written by the scammers.

It sounds like these guys are casting a pretty wide net.  I wonder why the authorities haven't nabbed them, yet?

This number calls me all the way up till 10pm.  Very annoying and I have never answered the phone.  Maybe I should answer the phone and ask for their personal info.
