    I reported to the FCC on the Do Not Call registry # and I sent them a text message to remove my number from their call list per FCC regulations.  I have never heard from all 3 numbers that have been calling me!!

    We get calls atleast 2 times a day; we have NEVER dealt with capital one for anything so I have no idea why they keep calling. I've answered once before but there wasn't anyone there; i suppose its just harassment that needs to be taken care of.

    Called 3 times a day. Husband even told them I was sick in bed. And I was. They called two more times and again at 10am today.
    My Capitol one acounts are all up to date with no late payments. I have told them to stop calling and it continues.

    I fully believe that these complaints sites are a joke and so is the FCC and the DO NOT CALL Registry.

    These slime balls can find a way around all the rules and laws.

    These companies own our Congressmen and women. So what if they want to break the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I can assure you that the number calling you is legit.  Due to the nature of Capital One's business (which revolves around your credit), messages are not always left, as we have no way of knowing if the actual cardholder is going to get the message.  

    As for receiving multiple calls, until we are actually able to make contact with the right party, we do call back for a period of time.  It could be regarding options available on your account, changes that could impact your account, or even simply to provide you information you may find important.  When we call out, we ask that cardholders verify their zip code, as it's the least invasive piece of information that we are able to confirm.  We understand that customers are going to be suspicious if we call you asking you to confirm your SSN.

    Regarding the Do Not Call List...it all depends on which list you're on.  There is the national (gov't) Do Not Call list and Capital One's.  If you're on the national list, then a company that you have recently or are currently doing business with can still contact you, ie Capital One.  If you want to be on Capital One's Do Not Call list, it's best to stay on the line long enough to verify your zip code and that you want no further solication calls.  (if we are unable to verify that we are speaking with the cardholder, we are NOT able to add you to the DNC list).

    I called the # back, the guy was a real ass. Called the # on the back of my card and asked about the #. the guy said it was from their telemarketing service, I told them to remove my name from their list

    BEWARE OF CAPITAL ONE SCAM!  Even if the caller has identified himself or herself as a Capital One employee (how would you REALLY know?), BEWARE and do NOT accept any offers.  Capital One sent me a card last year...it was delivered to a different address, so I didn't know it existed.  BUT because it was delivered (even to a WRONG address)...they charged me an annual membership fee...and billed me every month...with LATE CHARGES...that was reported to CREDIT REPORTING COMPANIES...   I was victimized - my credit score was harmed - for something that I DIDN'T approve...DIDN'T authorize...but I ended up paying the $180 and cancelling the card to protect myself from further harm...  CAPITAL ONE HARMS CONSUMERS.  I got scammed.

    THE REAL ANSWER....

    As a Fraud Analyst for a huge bank and credit card company. I am going to tell you what is going on.

    This is a legit number for Capital One. When you call it. It is Capital One.

    However. The Caller ID on your phone can be faked to show whatever number the crooks want it to show. DO NOT rely on caller id to confirm the validity of a call to you.

    But the crooks cannot fake what number you call, and if you call that number back then it is indeed Capital One.

    They are probably trying to sell you things and every thing else with your account, pretty much anything you can think of. But if they call asking for your ssn, dob, or that kind of info. Call them back. Your zipcode is not private info and feel free to give that out. You would even be safe giving out JUST the last for of your card number. If they ask for anything else related to your identity call them back at the number. When you call them back you know it is capital one and not a crook.

    I can only imagine the headaches this is causing cap. one employees. Someone is spoofing their caller id number and trying to phish (or vishing) for your info. And they are also using the same number. They don't bother changing it because the crook can just change it to whatever it was changed to anyway.

    So to be sure. Just call the number back. You are speaking to capital one WHEN you call no matter what. But when you are called directly limit verification to zip or last four of card number.

    It's not a scam, it's a Capital One telemarketer.

    I called the number on the back of my Capital One card and asked why I was receiving these calls, as I am customer in good standing. I was told that it was a telemarketer call and that I could just ignore it if I wanted.

    I asked to be taken off of the telemarketer's list and this was taken care of in a matter of minutes. However, I was told that it may take up to several weeks for this request to go through so I may still receive the calls until it does.

    Just call a Capital One number you trust, if you're unsure.

    Told me they were from Capital one and wanted to talk with me about the Federal changes but first needed to know the last four digits of my SSN.  I told them that I had seen this website and that if they were truly Capital One, they would know my mailing and email information and should contact me that way.  The person on the phone said I'm sorry but that's not true and we'll keep calling if you don't go through the process now.  I told him "I'm telling you now that whether you are Capital One or not, if I receive any future calls from this phone number I will file charges and you personally and whatever company, if any, you work for.  If you are Capital One, you can reach me through the mail or email systems."  When I asked if he understood what I said and the repercussions if they called me again he hung up.

    Calling day after day, answered once and women in VERY bad english asked for me by name.  I have Capital One credit card but payment is not due for two weeks!  A$$ Holes!!!!  Don't deal with these jerks!

    I have started receiving calls from 800-955-7070, no voicemail. I finally called the number and asked them to take me off their call list. They asked if I would like promotional material from Capital One and I declined as I have a credit card through them. Suprised their phone soliciting got through my call blocks. How rude of them. If it doesn't stop I will cancel the card.

    I think it is really annoying that they call and then sometimes drop the call. It is worse that this is my cell phone and it is costing me minutes, so everytime they call I just groan.  If I could talk to them, that would be great...I would ask them to send me something in the mail, anyway!  My husband is the one with the card, so for now they probably wont talk to me anyway...but they still call my phone since I am the bill payer and my phone is the one listed.  I really dont even want to deal with this!!
