- Wi girlI got a call today from an unknown number. They left a message stating her name "Carrie Wills" and she was a private investigator. She gave me a case number and said that the contact number she has for me is 813-217-5283. Ummmmm i'm no idiot but I'm pretty sure if that was my contact number you wouldn't of gotten my voicemail since I live in WI and our area code is 608!!!!!. No needless to say I am taking no action against this, especially after I read what everyone else has written.

- sad consumerSCAM! Actually fell for it and set up payments just to find out after paying a couple months that it is not real! Only cause the real place kept calling me!
So sad that people would do something like this and scam people who don't have money in the first place out of even more money!
Wish I could do something about it, but I feel that not much can be done!- Caller: United Legal Syatems

- Lonnieway57@aol.com replies to jim p| 1 replyI got the same call with the threatening message that I had 24-48 hours to settle this, yet when i went on my husband's credit report, there were no outstanding HSBC accounts. Everytime I tried to get info from them, I got a recorded message that said goodbye. I spoke with them three times today, and one time Friday. What I am worried about was that they did have all our info, including SS#. If anyone can tell me what I can do, or how to complain about this to someone higher up than me, please help before his social security card is used. I am going to try to find somehow to speak to someone there who is a "supposed" supervisor, which I am sure I will be hung up on, but I am going to try. Any help to report them would be appreciated. Maybe we should all write our email down and send them to someone. Maybe then they will listen. It is bad enough we get scams all the time from Nigeria, but here in the United States.. Makes me shudder. Thanks, Lonnie
- Lonnieway57@aol.com replies to Lonnieway57@aol.comI forgot to mention the people I talked to, if they gave me their real names are Lena Burke, John Ferguson, and someone on Friday, whose name I did not get.
- LonnieTheyare nothing but horrible people who try to commit scams. Send the mailing address (the correct one) and the legal phone number, not the one listed, which on reverse lookup, belongs to a realtor in Florida. The funniest thing I see here is on the bottom, it says Thank you for your contribution! Here is the best: "Oh, and please watch your language and post ONLY TRUTHFUL information." What a joke

- LonnieI received a message on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 leaving me an authorization number, and told me they were calling from United Legal system about a private number. when i called back, the man I spoke with was very rude, he knew way too much info on us (spouse) and gave us two options, pay today or pay half today. When I asked what it was for he only said HSBC, which my husband has not had in years and it was paid and charged off. I was hung up on, checked all three credit bureaus and there are no outstanding HSBC debts. I called back today, Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, spoke with three different people, each of who hung up on me when I asked for some information. They said they did not have any account numbers, said they mailed out several notices, which I had received none, hung up again. told me they were putting a restraining order??? out and we would get a subpeona in 24-48 hours, which has passed. When i call back, I cannot get any answers, the phone number is listed for a realtor in Florida. My concerns is that they had my husband's social security number, and much more info. But the SS# is what I am concerned with. I asked their names and one said John Furguson (that is how he spelled it) and Lena (then she paused) and slowly said Brook. Then hang up again. When I saw all these complaints, i saw it was a scam, it is bad enough we get them from Nigeria, but here in our own country. Shameless. Can't we do something to stop these people, find them, get a supervisor, if any. People who have bad credit probably worry and end up paying something because they are scared. I am going to send this out to as many lawyers, and anyone who may be able to help. They need to be shut down and punished in the penal system. Lonnie Waynauskas
Where you have "call type" you should list other and then a box under where someone can write "scam" or "fraud". Thank you- Caller: United Legel Systems

Same contact number was given 8132175283. If these are the same people they have expanded their area because i live in the state of hawaii.

- kristiHave gotten multiple calls from this company stating same as above. I am located in Iowa. Called them back and got voicemail both times. Have also called me at my workplace. Told them they were not allowed to call me there twice over and also to send me original debtor information, amounts, etc. if they felt I owed them something. I think they are the same people who called a little over a year ago. Stopped calls for awhile, but not starting again. Where do I report?

- Graymare in NYWas so glad to see all the smart people on this blog who didn't fall for this scam, thank God. Life is hard enough these days without threatening phone calls and people trying to steal our money this way. We've been getting these exact calls, they must all be reading the same script, and if we're not home, they leave the message on our machine and fill it up with this trash. I'm a retired Paralegal, who worked for 25 years in a law office, and this kind of legal mumbo-jumbo doesn't scare me, but it sure makes me mad. Nothing they say even makes sense, such as a restraining order and/or an Order to Show Cause. Our particular "special agent" is called Melissa Downing, she says. I've got a list of all the local, state and federal agencies to report this to, and am making the calls today. Enough is enough. Best of luck to anybody else who has this goon squad pestering them. And please don't believe that any sheriff or policeman is coming to your door to arrest you, no matter how scary these people make it sound. Not going to happen.

- CarolynOn 9/19/12 I received two calls in a row from an unknown number. One message was left. It was from a woman who stated her name was "Special Investigator Tina Charles" and said I was being sued and should contact my attorney. She left a phone number (813-217-5283) and an Affidavit number. She said something about "order to show cause of restraining" or something like that. I immediately was in a panic, of course. I called back and spoke to a man who said that Bally Fitness Center was suing me for unpaid debt from 2008. He said I was also being sued for fraud and malicious intent. I explained to him that not only had I never joined Bally's, but that I never even set foot IN a Bally's! He was very rude and condescending and stated that "actually I had" and that I will have to answer to a judge for what I had done. I reiterated that I had never joined Bally's and asked if this could be a mix up. He said "no". I asked if there was any proof and if he had something I signed. He said of course his "client" had it and stated I would receive the paperwork in the mail and will then have to answer in court. Although after my conversation I felt much relief since I knew I never actually incurred this debt, there is absolutely no need to call people and leave messages that they're being sued and allege false charges against people. Saying you are a "special investigator from United Legal Systems" sounds VERY official and is enough to frighten anyone and cause immediate panic and concern. The reps are not helpful and do not offer any information, just judgment and a sense of "you know what you did" (even though you really didn't do it!). Luckily I came across this site and found that I'm not alone. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. United Legal Systems has an 'F' rating with them and they also have a flag about the company, which states, "BBB has received a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding threatening phone calls demanding payment for debts that the consumer does not owe. The consumer also claims that phone calls are being made to their workplace. We have not received any response to the complaints. The address we have for them is invalid."

- NicoleSome lady called my phone saying they are an investigator and there is a restraining order against me and am being sued for a car I suppose had rent on May 7 by National Sales. Never heard of this place nor have I ever rented a car before. He was very rude and ignorant. Every time I called he was the only one picking up the phone and you would hear sirens in the background. Told me I will receive something to go to court. These people needs to be stop it should not be a reason for them to be doing this for so long. I have filed an complaint against them this morning for harassment.

- JazzeltineMy sister in law recieved a phone call from this number on Sept 25, 2012 and was told by Amy Kindler, a "special investigator" that I needed to call them at this number within 24 hours or I would be arrested. Fortunately, I looked up on line and found out this was a scam. Can't someone arrest these people?

- Cassanovai have these people calling me for a couple of years now and no one ever shows up to arrest you. First this is not how the legal system works in the United States. You cannot go to jail for oweing money UNLESS it is already court ordered to pay; like child support. We do not have debtors prison the U.S.A.!!!!!
It is a total scam. Most of scams get information form websites via third party. they sign up to get information from a website claiming they are a legitamte business. This website doe snot check them out and sells oyur info to them for a price which they gladly pay Sadly they also get these your numbers form employment websites, which totally sucks!. Do not fall for them it is a scam. When they call answer the phone posing as your local Sherrif's department.
EXAMPLE ring, ring , Hello, Rock County Sherrif's dept. How may I help you? They will just hang up and won't call again for quite some time.- Caller: United legal systems Scam!
