HELP!
x - JakeDiscovered from my mobile operator that there's one provider sending SMS quiz promos with different names - Mobquiz QuizBizz and Equiz are all provided by Expanding Vision Limited - this is why Equiz is supplied by Evision, a short form for Expanding Vision. As others have already noticed, 83023 is related to this company called 2ergo. Contact them first - www.2ergo.com, as this short code is used by lots of companies, apparently. Mobile operators can be useful - it took a lot of questions to find stuff out though!

- SuI have just googled www.TXT1000.com to see if anybody else has problems with rogue messages that cost money - and I was directed to this site. However, the numbe that is paguing me is a different one - 82085 - I receive 3 or 4 a day, each costing me money. I also get random messages from 83023 - but recently the 82085 seems to have taken over. Any advice on how to stop them would be very welcome.
- LynnI don't think you're charged for the inicial text until you (if you're a fool like me) answer the quiz question. Just been caught out too and looks like I might lose £3.00 a week off my phone credit until I can stop this theiving company. Spoke to customer services for my network provider who told me to text STOPALL to 83023. Will post result success or not next week.
- MeganThey text me about having 1000 free texts for £3 a week, i didnt text 'STOP' incase they dont stop and charge me for it.

- Elli TI never give my number out to companies or anything, but I gave my number to Lloyds TSB bank last week so I could set up a bank account with them. Did they sell my number on? Otherwise, how would they get it? I took myself off 118800...
The most recent message I've had from them says - Free Msg: R U a winner of 1 of 50 Ipods? Txt IPOD & answer to 83023! Are Polar Bears White or Brown? Draw 31/7 Equz is £3/wk 08445796366 Txt stop 2 stop
I don't know if this is actually free or not, but I'm pretty sure they won't stop if I tell them to. - LordHeinzI recently just got a text of 83023 offering me 1000 texts.
I thought to myself, "This can't be right, O2 usually give me offers and crap ones, there must be a catch" so consulted this website as to what it is.
Those who have been able to send the word "Stop" have got it off lightly, I can't even do that, just keep getting the words "Sending failed. Retry?" Urgh.- Caller: Text1000

- L BennDO NOT TEXT STOP TO THIS SHORTCODE.
The scam here is that they seem to randomly enter mobile numbers and send texts attempting to get you to text them so that they officially have your number on the system or something to that effect. Similar to a lot of people my number was given only to banks, schools, universities etc., and never allow any of these to give out my details to third parties, hence the belief that the number selection is random. I was never charged for these texts.
All I did was call my mobile phone company customer service line (in my case o2), explained the situation in full and they are currently taking steps to block any third parties, such as this number, contacting me. I was informed that this was the best course of action.
However, it was suggested in the phone call that if at some future point I was charged for any text received in the time it takes for the aformentioned course of action to be fully processed, that (when contacted) o2 would take steps to retrieve the money from the company. I'm not sure if this applies should someeone have texted 'stop' to the shortcode prior to calling their company - Jennie, GlasgowI have received this text for the first time today. My O2 bill so far shows no evidence of any money being deducted from me (I am a PayMonthly customer) but I have emailed O2 to threaten to cut my contract if I am charged by this nuisance third party company. Thanks to everyone for their advice - i have text 'STOP ALL' to the number and hopefully that will work. I have a bad feeling that this isn't the last I will have heard from 83023. O2 customer service staff claim that they can't block these texts but I know for a fact that US phone providers like Verizon do offer such a service so I don't see why we can't do it here in the UK. The lack of protection that we have as mobile phone users in this country is abysmal and I would encourage people to contact www.phonepayplus.org.uk and report their incidents to help their investigation - keep a copy of the original text.
- WillEveryone that has said which network they are on and has received this text have all been on O2, coincidence?
