I got an e-mail from a Ken George from England  asking about my rental.  Same type of letter as has been mentioned previously.  He wanted me to also sign for his rental furniture that his financier would pay for in advance.  He is a scam

I got the same response from Craigs List but from David Boyer Tel:  +44.702.406.0969  email daver231@googlemail.com.
This time he is working for Sir William Arrol & Co, Glasgow, UK and will be working for Quality Engineering Products and working with Martin Pycroft, the Chief Executive Officer. 832-615-1294.  He offers to send 2 months rent plus the security deposit and wants the exact information.

I got similar email.  It seems that he only changed the name and all the other wordings are the same.  I called local FBI office.  They don't seem to care that much.  They simply asked me to fill out a form.  I don't know whether they'll actually do something once I fill out the form.  I am thinking something needs to be done to stop this guy so he won't be free to hoax around.

Here's another one from Craig's list.  We advertised out house in the Big Island of Hawaii from our friend who is now calling himself David Boyer.  Finally did some checking and found the Sir William Arrol & Co. was defunct in 1969 -- hmm.  And Quality Engineered Products -- there are many firms with s very similar name.

Basically he said the same things as listed in the above comments, measurements of rooms, furniture designed for these rooms to be delivered....

What does he get out of it??

It happened to me too! Same! name Dr Toby Coker Melsburg (drtobycoker1@googlemail.com) for a baby sitter? Nanny site craigslist. I received 3 e-mails .. and asked my email address, and sent me a check for $ 4699.00! Be fully careful! When the offer is too good .. distrust! I am happy to find many people who are also denouncing the coup so rude!

Here is some more really helpful information from someone re scammers and this scammer in particular.  I got a kick out of this persons suggestions (2nd one :)) on what to do with the check should i receive it.  Interesting that this scammer (and apparently most of them) is in Nigeria but the cell # is in the states. Clever little minds eh? I've done some research on this stuff since he attempted to scam ME.

Excerpt from the email:
This scammer is writing to you from an Internet Cafe in Lagos Nigeria. If he writes again simply and politely reply telling him that  you no longer wish to go along with the deal.

He has no interest in whatever was being advertised, and nobody will be calling.  He wanted to send you a (counterfeit) cheque for far more than you were expecting and  hoped that you would cash it, and send  his non-existent shipping company a large portion of the money before your own bank realised that the cheque was bad.


If you do receive  a cheque from him. The way I see it you will  have  three main options:-  
•    Take the cheque and any packaging to your local police and file a report, although they won't do much with it unless you have lost  money in the scam .... although the Postal Inspector (if you are in the USA) would be interested.  
•    Write "Fake" over the front of it and stick it on your office wall as a memento.
•    Rip it up and bin it.

If you don't go for the first option I'd go for the second option ..... it makes a good talking point when you have friends around. :-)

Then write to him and tell him that you tried to bank the cheque and the bank told you that it was fake. You might want to add that you were arrested and spent two nights in the cells for attempted fraud !
