    Burtons Mechanical

Burtons Mechanical, Inc is a plumbing subcontractor. On 11-9-09 we contracted with Goldman, Walker, and Klein (“collection agency”) to collect from a general contractor that we had already completed a job for and were not able to collect funds for. The total we were due from the general contractor was $16,688.04. We received notice that the GC filed bankruptcy on 12-22-2009. Goldman, Walker, and Klein, then settled with the attorney on record for the GC to accept 50% of the total due to Burtons Mechanical, Inc. which came to $8344.02. Our office manager contacted the attorney on record for the GC by phone this morning, 6-21-10. She was told by him that they had sent the funds ($8344.02) to Goldman, Walker, and Klein in April 2010. Burtons Mechanical has not received any funds from Goldman Walker and Klein, and any and all attempts we make to get in touch with them go ignored and/or unanswered.

I am sending a letter of demand telling Goldman, Walker & Klein to pay in 10 days or we will file a police report claiming misapplication of fiduciary funds.  Maybe that will get there attention.  Also filled out a complaint form on the Attorney General's Website regarding Goldman, Walker & Klein.  Is Robert Galloways last name really Fucile?

Is the letter of demand from an attorney?  That was suggested to us but I really am skeptical now of getting another to take care of this.  But willing to do what has to be done to resolve this and make sure no one else  gets involved with these people.

But if you are a client of theirs and you bug them long enough and stop by the office they work out of long enough and you get a check handed to you.  Not mailed, but handed to you.  Let's say that check is no good and wasn't good the day it was handed to you.  That changes things right?  Now its not just a case of trying to collect bad debt from a no good debt collector.  It turns into a legal thing as well by "handing" out bad checks.

Is Not Listed with the TX or FL Bar Association as a Law Firm, nor listed as a registered Debt Collector
Their phone number of 832-665-2100 as well as the "direct lines" are all cell phones.
They are not listed with the Secretary of State's offices in either FL or TX.

I have filed reports with documentation with the FL and TX Attorney Generals' offices, as well as the FTC.

I was contacted by Julie Siles representing her firm as Lawyers who would assist me in collecting money owed my company by an unscrupulous contractor in Florida. I paid a $1000 advance to them in January 2010. I have received not one record indicating that any work had been done on my behalf. Ms. Siles had various excuses by phone...Brooke has not been keeping up.....Betty was now on the case.....I've been dealing with my termionally ill father etc.
I wrote a demand letter for a refund all to no avail.
In my opinion, the are a bunch of crooks and should be prosecuted.

I am the Treasurer for a glass Company in Wisconsin.  We had a lien placed on property in Minneapolis after having collection issues with our customer.  Liens are a matter of public record.  Goldman, Walker and Klein must research who has active liens and then call the contractors or subs involved... offering to help in collection effort.

We, too, had a call from Steve Shaw. We also dealt with a very smooth individual by the name of Jim Palmer who offered a great deal of persuavive lip-service and over-the-phone charm.  We sent Goldman Walker and Klein money, upfront, to begin working toward collecting our bad debt.  That was back in August of 2010.  After two months of no follow up or status checks on their effort, we began calling to get answers.  To date, we have half a dozen calls in to JIm Palmer.  He does not return calls, and there is no one at his office that we have been able to speak with "live".

It's bad enough that our Company has suffered a multi-thousand dollar loss on a job that will have to be written to Bad Debts.  It's worse that there are individuals who are preying on this misfortune.  We were so eager to have someone represent us in our debt collection that we neglected to check credentials on Goldman, Walker and Klein.  That was a huge mistake.  I would strongly suggest that anyone who receives an unsolicited call from someone offering assistance in debt collection either do a back ground check on the company or simply hang up on the caller.  We learned the hard way.

If anyone needs further information about about our (bad) experience with Goldman, Walker and Klein please leave a message here and I will contact you.

    Regards,
    RJB

I believe I am a victim.  I placed a lien on a property earlier this year for worked performed under contract that was never paid. It was less than $5,000 so I intended to take it to small claims court. Several weeks later I received a call from someone from Goldman, Walker and Klein stating they had several other contractors that were also owed substantial money from this customer. They indicated to me I could be part of the suit if I signed the agreement they would send me.  They sent it, it seemed simple enough, I signed it ( I still have copies of almost everything including back and forth e-mails between GWK and my former customer and voice mails from the "attorney" I have been dealing with.) That was April 26th.  I'm still waiting for payment, although it was promised to be in the mail a month ago. I am a small business owner, in Florida,  who works hard for what I have and will be happy to share any documentation available. Please contact me at grkennedy@yahoo.com.

FYI.  A quick check at the GWK website and check of host information shows that they have kept it private so you do not know who the owners are (new companies actions does look like the same M.O. Steve used).  They use host monster out of Provo, Utah https://www.hostmonster.com/privacy.html

If they are legitimate.  Why hide?

To those of you whom have been ripped off by these scumbags who are lower than whale crap at the bottom of the sea please do not let these rodents forever tarnish your image of collection agencies.

The legitimate ones are true advocates for our clients and we offer many value added benefits.  If you have to use an agency I suggest using one that is in your sphere of influence and for gods sake stay away from Texas!  You can sue these [***] but you will never get your money as Texas is a debtor friendly state!

I too retained this company to collect a debt. Was told that they were filing the case two months ago. Now i cannot reach any of the associates of this firm by phone or email messages. I guess I will have to report Goldman Walker Klien to the proper authorities.

I got a call from Secretary. She had a call from a guy who said he was a private investigator for JD Bailey. Said he had an ongoing investigation. My secretary calls this JD Bailey and he won't tell her who is trying to collect for. What do you know about this JD Bailey?
