- chazradical replies to Old BillYou always have to know your statute of limitations in your state.

Your inane comment suggests you must work for PF or that you have obviously not read the posts they are either debts that have been written off, are out of the statute of limitations or are their partners debts unknown to them prior to divorce
So it seems that you are trying to envoke a guilt complex in the writers the majority of whom no longer have a debt and never intentionally fell into debt.
They have been calling us for over a year for a claimed 1996 debt of $6 yes SIX dollars with Capital 1.
but after 13 years with compound interest this is now several hundred dollars
We tried to close the account but every time we paid up the next month showed a small sum outstanding so we sent $10 with a letter as full and final settlement and there was no further contact for 13 years Why did we want to leave Capital 1? because we heard roumours that they sell on personal information, now proven.
Tell me Lisa how many people do you know that renage on a $6 debt to a credit card company, how many credit companies accept full and final settlement without contact thereafter if they consider a debt is still outstanding?
If you don't work for PF then you must be a very dumb person to make the comments - OrangeKeep calling about something unrelated to me.

This is Portfolio Recovery. They are bottom feeder bill collectors. Not the GOP LMAO. Also Dems have your money now fool. - AnotherI began receiving calls from them December 2009. They called my cell phone, I've had the number only 4 years, and asked for me by my maiden name (I was married 13 years ago). How in the world they got my cell phone number now is beyond me. Trying to collect on a $600 Verizon bill (NEVER been that high). They told me if I paid $300 within the following 2 weeks, they would accept it. The statute of limitations in Indiana is 10 years, I will give them absolutely nothing.

- slhThis number just called on my cell phone, which is a pre-paid and shouldn't be accessible to anyone outside of the people I give it to. They left no message. I'd join the class action as well. What was the point of all the 'DO NOT CALL' lists that people (including myself) signed up for?

- NF118Calls the house and just yesterday recieved a collection notice (for settlement of the debt) in the mail from them, trying to collect on a debt that is more then 10 years old. This is Portfolio Recovery Management LLC or something like that. Never answer calls from them and they leave an automated message only stating the call is about a debt or personal business matter and leave a code number to give them if you call back. Do not answer the phone they are trying to collect on written-off and old expired debts!

- PatI notice that I have rec'd several calls from this #. while I have been at work. Today (Sat), they called and I answered the phone. It was a recorded call asking me to call them. They identified themselves as a debt collection agency. They obviously think I am someone else. I don't have any outstanding debts. I think these calls should be illegal because you can't talk to anyone when they call and you answer the phone. And, they just keep calling.

- PhilThese people keep calling my parents, who are in there mid 80's looking for Johnathan, and insist that he lives there and he owes a lot of money, and that they will go after them to collect it. What a bunch of losers picking on the elderly.. this has been going on for 2 weeks, my parents are all worked up about this...

- lily214got a call from them today on my work cell phone which was assigned to me from my company. i've only had the number for 6 months so I'm assuming they are just calling for someone who had this number previously. Obviously I do not use my work cell for personal stuff.

- California RecipientYes, This is Portfolio Recovery. For those of you who live in California, there is a statute of limitations on collecting old credit card debt. It is FOUR years from the last date you made a payment. Beyond four years of YOUR LAST PAYMENT (not when the acct was opened), they cannot collect. If you give them any money, the four year period starts all over again.

- Stacey| 1 replyI fell like an idiot. These people call me 4 to 5 times a day on average. They are trying to collect on an old Credit Store credit card that was paid off long ago. I got really freaked out when they sent me a letter that stated I was going to be sued, so I set up a payment plan with them. I decided that after the allotted time of payments I agreed to, I would no longer pay them, as I have the canceled check I used to pay the Credit Store. What recourse do I have?

- Tru replies to StaceyThey are violating the law by threatening you with legal action if it is past the statute of limitations to collect. It is actually considered extortion. I suggest getting as much documentation as possible bc you could sue them and get up to $1000 for the violation.
