    Go away
Caller ID shows Portfolio Recovery, calling from this number as well as 731-215-8010.  When answered, nothing but dead air.  As with other debt collectors, they are looking for someone who had our "new" phone number in the past.  I'm documenting each call, each company, and will go after them!

Researcher replies to fed up with scum bags
I have looked into this, since I am in the same situation.  I had a debt from over 7 years ago that isn't even on my credit report anymore.  I researched the statue of limitations.  Each state is different.  You have to look at the original paperwork from the credit company.  It could either be the rules of the state you're in or the state of the company.  In either case, the statue of limitations is usually less than 7 years.  For FL, it's 6 years. That means that the company cannot take you to court over the debt that is older than that.  BUT if you decide to pay the debt, like a portion as they want you to, you open the statue of limitations.  This means they can sue you for the debt since you "opened" it back up.  If you're past the statue of limitations, don't pay a portion of it.  I haven't found a loophole that they can do anything past that.

I live with my 81 year old mother and we got a call from this number today.  The caller was not professional and repeatedly asked my mother for someone named Austin. She kept telling this person there was no Austin at our number and that we did not know him. She requested not to be called again, but I can bet they will be calling.

I had to laugh though, she asked the caller if "Austin" was a 'deadbeat'!!!

We don't have caller ID display on every phone in the house and she picked up on what I call the 'old' phone......it even has the old _dial_ type style, not the buttons.

We have been getting more and more of these type calls and I am now seriously keeping records and reporting to the Do Not Call site using the complaint form. There is no need for companies to bother us when we have not done business with them.

Hey Jim - what brought you to this thread?  Trolls like you are worse than these scavenger companies that buy up discharged debts and then prey on the conscious of hard working people.  I think someone needs a hug.

It is a debt collector from very old debt to be paid aprox 7 years back.  I told them I was not me and that they had the wrong number.  They call everyday now and do not say anything blocking their identity with unknown name and unknown number they just hang up when anyone answers.  I get great pleasure of calling this number every so often myself.   I block my number using *67 and then I wait till a rep answers the phone there and I hang up on them and laugh.  Piss on them!!  LOL!!  Everyone should do the same and piss them off...it's fun!!

THEIR Corporate Headquarters is located in the Riverside Commerce Center:

    120 Corporate Boulevard
    Norfolk, VA 23502
We are located at the intersection of Military Hwy. and I-264.

    Phone number: 1-888-772-7326 (local) 757-519-9300

Keep in mind if you have ever had debt not paid and it is past the statue of limitations (7 years), it still can be reactivated by you admitting to them (Portfolio) over the phone that the old debt was yours. Give them no info whatsoever, just act dumb and they can only call, but never speak to them. They cannot take you to court or anything. They are grabbing at straws to try to get you to trip up on the phone. I work for a Debt Consolidation company so I know their tricks.

Also these calls are legal so long as it is done during govt regulated hours as they are not a "sales" call or telemarketer call.

Also get calls from 757-961-3548 / 800-772-1413 / 731-984-7690 / 620-622-8870 / 757-864-0020 / 205-423-4020 some have Portfolio Recov caller ids and some have OUT OF AREA-TOLL FREE CALL caller ids. When you websearch the unidentified caller id numbers it shows several websites with numerous complaints all on this unscrupulous Portfolio Recovery that also show they are in trouble with the FTC and Several Attoreny Generals. They do not follow any FDCPA or State Laws, does not abide by and Cease and Desist letters that have been sent with USPS confirmation signatures and NEVER produce any paperwork on any of their claims and just want people to pay over the phone. They also do not leave any messages because they know they can get in trouble and have to pay for every offense.
