how do i block just this numb er - ElizabethI've been getting these calls for the past two days relentlessly. They call every hour, and usually hang up on me when I answer the phone. The few times I've gotten an actual person on the other line, they don't identify themselves and ask for the wrong person. I've told them to take me off the call list and never call again. An hour later, it's the same call again, usually followed by a hang up. What drives me up the wall are the early morning weekend calls! I don't have any kind of overdue account but it doesn't seem to stop them from harassing me.

- BethYes, it's Citigroup's Shell card and they are relentlessly unreasonable. I was 2 days late paying a $23.00 balance on my card due to an error on my part and they hounded me even after I had paid the $23.00 plus the current balance online. I pay everything else on time and they cut no slack for good customers. They always treat you like a deadbeat.
- Caller: Citigroup
- Call type: Debt collector

- Bob| 1 replySunday 10:41 a.m. I just got a call but no one on line. It is the 3rd call in this past week. The other two I was out. It must be a scam because I work for a company that also handles Citibank Accounts but in another state. No one in our huge building works on Sundays. But, they work on what is called a "dialer". The computer automatically calls who is on the list. Our company only calls collection accounts. When a client answers the phone, the rep picks it up, not knowing at first who they have called. Then it pops up on their computer screen. They have to ask who you are and account info to make sure it is you for confidential reasons. They have to confirm it is you they need to tell about your account being late. They can't talk to a babysitter, relative answering the phone. Well they can but can't talk about the account. At least that is how we work in the medical division. I do have an account with one of the companies under Citibank but paid my account only two days late. It might just be a reminder call which I would understand. But calling on a Sunday doesn't sound right. I have known of situations with another collection company who is a competitor that their dialer system malfunctioned and made calls off hours when it shouldn't have. I find that if someone owes money and is really late that calling that company and working with them is so much less stressful than yelling at a rep when they are contacting you. You contacting them is always so much better. Now I have to got make sure my online payment to Goodyear actually went through!!!!!
- Bob replies to James, SCJames, But they don't work Sunday Mornings do they? I work for a company that handles Citibank collections but no one is ever in the building on Sundays. We are not in a different state though so maybe the state laws are differnt?
- Bob replies to BobIt is not a scam. They just called me to say I was late ( 4 days) on my payment. I was late but didn't have a choice. I told her this and she was very polite. She did not ask me for personal info, gave me the last 4 digits of my account. I am glad I use this "whocallsme" online site because in the past I did avoid scams.
- Bob replies to FosterI do agree that it is annoying to get the calls, see the caller id# and not get a message. But I also thought it strange they called when I was a few days late. No other place does. But then I don't really know because I am usually not late with a bill. But recent medical emergencies have made it necessary to buy heart
medications before I planned on so something had to give. What really strikes me is that credit card companies have had to get more agressive in collecting money owed to them. With so many people out of work, one of the only fastest ways to get a job is with a collection company. Then that new employee realizes he or she has to make a certain criteria to keep the job. They have babies at home to feed, they get scared and some do get more aggressive on the phone. When I worked a similar job, a customer calling late on their bills that were calm and not yelling at me, got more breaks, little things I could do to help their account and write nicer notes in their account. If you are rude, nasty or demeaning and yelling at me I could easily choose to not do a thing to help you. - Bob replies to Yvonne NeelemanDo not give anyone calling you this info. If it is a genuine credit collecter they already have your ssn, dob and who you owe money to. Anyone asking for your ssn and dob, I would not trust.
- Don ScammeWell-one for the rulebooks. The people calling are scammers that have captured the original
phone number (one of them at least) that Citi has been using to effect collections. It goes even further folks...There is a big difference between the people behind this scam as Citi vs Citicorp and other
"Citi" related names represent potentially different scammers and companies. Bottom line: You really don't know who you are talking to anymore as SOOOO many people hide behind the internet.
Think about it for a second. You are receiving a contrived/falsed number with a questionable area code,
from a "company" that doesn't use your name, in order to collect an amount which they don't specify because they don't know who you are so that they can collect data from you, including your SS# ?
All of us should verify the caller. After all..We don't have a clue who we are talking to! So, always verify their names, ID number, City they are calling from and obtain an amount they show as owed to them before you do anything else. If they balk then just plain don't talk to these criminals.- Caller: unknown
- JoshMI have received numerous calls but no one is on the other end. The call ends shortly after I say "hello". They call about every couple of hours during the evening.
- McChord AFBI got a lot of these calls on the Air Force Base. Called the number back and told the idiot that if they didn't cease, I would sent one of our finest drones to blow his ass out of the water.
- Caller: Citibank

- ZebrapipeRecently, I've been receiving calls from this number. There's never a message left on my answering machine and when I am home and pick up, there is silence and then about 15 seconds later, a hang up. I called it back and got some computer voice message requesting that I leave my Citibank account number in order to expedite my call. Well, needless to say, I didn't and simply hung up. Obviously, it's bogus.
- Caller: Citibank
- me replies to PaulySame here. and some of these are from 12 + years ago.
- MelSays, please hold on the line for an important message from CitiCard, and then hangs up.
- Caller: CitiCard
- laFrom Private label citcard-didn't leave message
- Caller: said Citicard
- LisaI received a call from this number; had no idea who it was so as I now normally do; I googled it and found this site. I am not sure what account of mine they could be calling about because all my accounts are current. From the prev. posts it looks like is it a SCAM. Never EVER give out account info from a non-solicited caller even if you are behind. Hang up and call the company yourself from the number listed on your bill. Anyone asking for a password is automatically a scam. No business would ask you for that; except your secret phone password even then if I don't recognize the number I tell them I cannot talk now, hang up (amid their protests) and call the company directly.
Stay aware out there! As things fall to the crapper in the economy more and more of this will be popping up!- Caller: Unknown
- AmandaI want the calls to STOP
