Received a call claiming a Ms Eastman worked for Joel Curtis and left a threatening message regarding a court proceding and I am sure that at a minimum they have to serve you in Michigan via first class mail. In order to perserve your rights under the Fair Credit Act all communications must be in writing so do not accept any threatening phone calls from this number.

so they called my house 2 times looking for my fiance, and the last mesg that he(mr otto) left he sounded so stupid. he couldn't even pronounce his words correctly. then went on to say that he never responded to his letter he sent but i had to listen to the mesg about 6 times before i could even make out what he was saying. obviously cause there was NO letter. so i fianlly called and surprisingly mr otto is on the line, i yelled at him for calling my home for a couple weeks and informed him that there was nobody by that name that lived in my house and to quit calling or i was going to contact my attorney...lol. he apologized and said my number would be taken off the list and that contacting my attorney would not be neccessary. so yes they obviously are not a legit collection agency, its all a scam and a bunch of bullcrap. if your gonna try and pull a scam on people to get their money, at least hire employees that know how to speak proper english!

Sounded like a black man with an edge.   Threats about lawsuit, etc.    Must be a real bottom feeder.

Got the same calls twice this week, from a Rex Rhode from Joel Cardis law firm.  Got a voice mail with a threat that if I did not call him back within a certain time frame they would legal proceedings.  Phone number was the same as everyone else posted.  I did not him back.  He called on Monday this week, but that was the day daughter just died.  He called me again and I was making funeral arrangements.  The last thing I need is this kind of harrassment when I am in grief from my daughter's death.  I called them back, no one answers, don't get an operation number at the supposed law firm.  I really do not think their tactics are legal.  I do not believe they can start proceedings for a matter that I do not even know about.

Same...Law Office of Joel Curtis. The lady was bitchy and said she was calling in reference to a debt. She asked if I wanted to pay it and I told her I dispute it. She said "The whole amount?". I said yes and she replied, "So you're ready to take this to court?" and I answered "Yeah sure" and then she said "Good day" and hung up. Definitely weird. Scare tactic is all. I haven't received anything in the mail at all and she didn't seem to have an interest in asking for my current address. So...to hell with them.

I just got a call today from this law firm.  I'm assuming it's a dentist bill I paid IN FULL, but they made an error and decided to bill me months later for $300 more.  I just do not want to pay it when while I was there they called my insurance carrier, got the amount they'd pay to cover the procedure, and I was billed right there and paid the difference which was a lot!  Can they file a judgment against me and will that go against my credit history being it's not a default on a loan, but a billing error?

I just received a phone call from them. But I rememberast year they also called me andvitwas a collection agency. the man also left a message that he was an attorney.

Where do they get our number and how did you all get them to stop?  Just by threatening them?  Should I not call back?

Miss Jones just called our place of business giving a case#, phone number, ext, etc.  I was suspicious from the get-go.  My rule of thumb is that if your business legitimately owes another money, then that company will properly introduce themselves when calling.  If it's a real legal case, they will allways know who to ask for, not for accts payable.

I've also received these same calls recently, & I don't know what it's about.  My caller's name is Barry Krause(sp?) from the law firm of Joel Cardis LLC with the same 8774444655 phone number.  I decided to look the law firm up on the internet prior to calling them back, because I haven't seen any kind of 'legal action' letters in the mail. I'm fairly sure those kinds of things are usually sent via certified mail.
Anyway, it just all sounded pretty sketchy.   Thanks to those of you who have posted this info.   I have not spoked to them yet ... but I am really glad I did my research on this prior to calling them back.  Now, I know what I'm up against.

i used to work there its a [***] privatley owned collection agency, there is no joel cardis, he is a lawyer but u will never see him step foot in that place, nobody there is an lawyer and never studies law, the only law they know is the ones they break half of the employees are convicted felons and useless, i had to quit the harrasment is such a sin, The truth is u can pay ur bill to the person u have a debt with, now ur credit report is another story, the debt are legit, but u can avoud putting money in a rip offs pocket by payin the person u owe directly, what evr u ow they get at least 35/40% do u really want to give a leech money that he doesnt need ar satisfy ur own debt with the paerson u owe money to. When theycall just hang up by law they cant keep on calling if u say they have the wrong person also remeber once , a real lawyer is not going to sue   u for $ 35 dollars!!!

I am in Florida and just received a call from same number. He is not an arroeney in Florida. I work for a law firm and he is not listed in the Florida bar listing.

Thanks for making these postings, I have received 2 calls on my voicemail from a woman who mumbles about Joel Cardis LLC and some file number.  I suspected it was some scam or timeshare come-on.  I'm calling the attorney general's office to see if they have complaints on this co.

Unless you can submit a hard copy of what i am supposed to owe - stop calling.

I received a call then a letter 8/09.  This collection company is employed by whoever you owe a debt to.  My is my doctor and his billing office told me that I can't pay it to them direct. They won't take it because this company charges a fee to the doctor and I have to pay the fee and the bill. So my question is has anyone gone to the next step of not paying and what happened?

Started getting the same kinds of calls from this number this week. I don't owe anybody anything. I am a "Retired Lawyer" and if these calls continue......I will see this caller in court.....even if I have to drive to his so called door-step in Pa to find them.

i got a call from this # listed and was very hesitant about calling them back,they left a referece # , i will hve to make this call from a different # as i do not want them callin my cell phone, is this company a type debt collector

They did not transfer the funds I paid them to the party I owed and lied about them agreeing to take less as  a settlement in an attempt to get me to pay a lump sum.  Sent me a bogus statement on bogus letterhead supposedly from the company they were representing when I asked for something on the company letterhead mailed to me confirming they had rec'd previous payments I had made to Joel Cardis.  NONE of the payments were transferred.  DO NOT pay them anything!  pay it direct to whomever you owe.  Mr Simms just called me again and is still harrassing me...I am afraid he will take money from the account number I paid with prior, so I am closing it.  How is it that they can do this and what do I do about it?
