- SteveI just received this message on my ans. machine today. Same number and and debt collection agency as above. I don't owe anything, so I searched the number online and found this site. I was a little worried about identity theft though. Because our former mailman was charged with stealing mail a few months ago. Over 7,000 pieces of incoming and outgoing mail were found at his house. A few letters were returned to me. But, so far my credit is still good.

- Mike RandallCaller claimed a delinquent account with SouthTrust Bank. Several years ago I received a letter stating the same. I took the letter to SouthTrust Bank and it was determined as a scam. After the call I reported the incident to Wachovia Headquarters with took over SouthTrust. They say this is a scam.

- VickyWe've gotten two calls from this company in the last couple of days. My boyfriend called back and got a somewhat sketchy after business hours answering machine. We've also periodically gotten really sleazy telemarketing calls despite being on the do not call list -- perhaps they're drawing from the same set of numbers.

- edThey want you to call. How many times can you call in an hour with REDIAL? How much does that cost them per call? A LOT. Hang up as soon as the machine comes on and keep dialing for dollars. It cost them. They wish to keep harassing - eventually someone from there will come on and ask you not to call. MAKE MY DAY!
- sQUIRLEYThe caller ID says Toll Free Call and they use different phone numbers. They
are so annoying.- Caller: Unknown
- AnonymousI do not owe any money. I will not return the call from this ALW company. What a scam.

- Roger in San Diego| 1 replyThey seem to be an unethical debt scavenger. Trying to get you to pay old (7 year) debts that you are no longer legally obligated to pay or you have already settled with the lender. Their activities are illegal IMHO. Their business model is "maybe someone will pay even though they don't have to".
As mentioned above, you can send them a simple cease&desist letter with 10 minutes effort and the calls will stop. Make sure you mention the account number and that the default is over 7 years old. You can make some easy money in small claims court ($1k per call) if they continue to call.
Of you can simply block the phone number. Most cable phone and cellphone providers allow you to block numbers, so they don't ring.
In our case, this was a *really* old student loan my wife had defaulted on before we were married. We are fairly wealthy now and I was about to pay $40k for this when she pointed out that she had already paid her penalty with a poor credit rating and since it was over 7 years ago, we were not legally required to pay. We consulted with our attorney and she said "tell 'em to pound sand".
Also notice when these guys send you letters, the referenced account number has a extra digit added, since the old account number is no longer a legal debt.- Caller: alw sourcing llc
- GCDeby collection company. Okay so who and what are you collecting for? The info would be nice. We get a lot of phone calls for people who had the number before us. A name of the person you are calling for would be nice.

- ReeseSo my household kept getting these calls so i decided to call them back thankfully they didn't ask for any personal info and was pleasant. They asked for a particular name of someone not from our household and when i explained they don't live hear they said they would take us off the list. What i found out, is if someone who you may know distantly or not at all in some cases has a debt this company may be called as a third party collector. Then calls you and others associated to the person. (when i mean associated i'm saying the person indebt old number or address could be your new one) But in our case the debt was (a person not living in our household) who already repaid to the intended party but since alw llc still had the info it went against their credit report as if it wasn't already paid. The issue from what i hear is resolved so it will be taken off the credit report because there is no debt just a company thinking they need to and trying to collect (Not too legit in my opinion).

- Annea woman voice left this message 'Call 1-888-379-4884, again call 1-888-379-4884'
- Don't callRecorded message only identifies itself as ALW and says they have to speak to you about something important - leaves a number and a "reference number". The message didn't mention anything about debt collection, and I've never had a debt in my life. I don't use credit.
I didn't bother to call them.- Caller: ALW
- mogThis company develops contacts by having you call back...then pinning a 'debt' on you through the use of whatever information you give them. In no case should you accept their word that you 'owe money'. I hope you know that. I'm getting these calls daily and even recieved one piece of mail which I seem to have misplaced.:) Ancient debts (all settled years ago) seem to be the cause for the harrassment. I'm keeping my cool 'cause know that the Credit Bureaus do NOT update their reports for old debt that you've paid up. Someone can set up shop with a printer after combing through credit reports and call and mail as IF they're legit and maybe some people will pay. I didn't recognize anything on the mailing as legitimate however so...beware friends. I say 'go fish' <{{{><
- mogP.S. As to how I handle the calls, I can't block the number with my VOIP so I either turn the ringer off so I don't get that early Sat.morning call or I pick up and drop the handset right back down. I figure I'll outlive 'em. Click!

- ChrisI usually don't accept calls from 888 numbers, and just on a hunch did a search for it on Google and found this page. Glad I did - now I know not to take the call and block the number. I certainly don't owe them any money.
- GayleI receive a call from this number on my cell every Monday - Friday, usually around 1:30 p.m. They do not identify themselves nor do they state the purpose of the call. They only leave the 888-379-4884 number and a reference number. I certainly do not owe them money; may be that the person who had this cell number before me owes them. I do not intend to call them....

- Caller: ALW Sourcing They even threaten me. Hel
- Ty| 1 replyI just activated my phone number this week and received a call from ALW Sourcing, LLC on the 12th of March (three days after activation). As I like to think of myself as a responsible person, I'll be calling them on Monday to see what they want. In the meantime, the research that I've done has shown that this company will often refuse to provide you with any information about any debts they claim that you owe, and attempt to get you to give them personal information at the start of the call. Luckily I have access to an attorney and have now problems with threatening legal action for illegitimate collections calls. I'll let everyone know how it goes on Monday.
