Its some kind of pervert. Keeps asking for some name I have never heard of and thinks its me. I'm going to fined out who it is and go and rearrange his face.

It is BMO - valid call from their collections dept.

Just left me a message asking me to call them back.  I believe it's legit, and I DO owe a late payment on my card.  Don't know for sure, just saying it sounded legit to me.  I wouldn't call that number back, though, would find a number on their website.

This is a fraud, if this guy works for them he is the one commiting the fraud, I do not have anything from BMO and they asked me to confirm credit cards I do not even have.

You can complain about them. Online. to the The Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services. At https://www.consumerbeware.mgs.gov.on.ca/compform/english/complaint.asp  By Phone or filling out a form. They will warn them or fine them.

Odd, I missed my first payment (first time in a long time) and this number called me.

I do have a bmo account.  Must be in cahoots somehow with BMO (maybe inside workers passing along information)

It is a fraud ... called on the 1-888 number and after 2 rings, hung up and dialed back with a 000-000-0000 number.

I called the number also and it is the collections department on Bank of Montreal.  Hubby was 3 weeks late making his payment and the fellow I was talking to told me it was the first time for him.  He apologized, telling me that it is computer generated now...of course.

Ok so 33 mins prior? 1-888-676-2269 called.... SO I google and end up here on this website.... Considering it a scam number? I entered it into my contacts as BMO FAKE! Oh boy they called back half hour later, ok ok I decide to answer it just once....
THEY DIDN T SAY WHO HE WAS, just that he's calling and looking for "OH BOY MY COMPLETE REAL NAME and I said WHO ARE U? Then he says oh I'm from BMO....
So I said: REALLY? SO HOW DO I KNOW THAT U ARE WHO U SAY U ARE (informing guy that I've just view this so called website which says the number is fake!? He said I can give u a number to call us back!

Told the guy: YEAH YEAH I GOT "THIS NUMBER" it's on my call display! WHY I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW DO I KNOW U ARE REALLY FROM BMO? And guy said well can u take a message!
I told him: THAT DEPENDS ON THE MESSAGE! (meaning if I gotta give out my info to confirm my identity? U can forget it) so anyways THEY GUY SAYS: ok have a good day!

I ALSO ASKED IN THE BEGINNING? Why this number isn't on the back of our cards! It should be!


RULE OF THUMB: NEVER GIVE OUT INFO UNLESS CALLER ID MATCHES THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD! These callers are calling to confirm info they obtained elsewhere and just one by confirmed can result in other tiny tidbits of stolen data to also be confirmed as your info!

Don't bother calling back your credit company number that THE LIARS PROVIDE TO U, or even the stupid number they provide! It's all part of a large scam organization!  IF U WANNA CONFIRM? Call number located on back of credit card! 24/7 toll free?? That one' or customer support/service number! Always 2 numbers u can use!

if you want to be sure just call the number at the back of your master card adn ask them to transfer you to collects

8886762269 number is real and should never be ignore, only if you want to recieve your next call from the third part collections

It may be BMO about a late payment.. But the strange thing is that NO ONE in my house deals with BMO. So if its truly BMO they are breaking the No Call law and are subject to fines ala Bell Canada

called me 3 times today and hangs up as soon as I pick up.

Seeing as no one in our house has any type of credit cards or loans, there is little reason for BMO collections to be calling this number. None of us bank with BMO either.  This number has been ours for over 18 years, so it is incredibly unlikely we are receiving calls for the previous person who had this number.

I have previously banked with bmo but that was years ago and three phone numbers ago.  This number has called me several times and as a general rule I never answer toll free calls on my cell.  I figure that if it is important then they will leave a message.  This has not happened yet either.  I don't know if they are scammers or not but if they need me for something important they can leave an effing message.

I have no MC, nor have I ever held any account with BMO.  They are on crack.  Maybe they need to verify the information they have prior to calling and threaten people that have never used nor will ever use any service offered by them.  At this rate I will be billing BMO and calling them for late payments.

This IS BMO calling...I got a letter from them in the mail because I was late on a payment and this is the number on the letter. Suck it up and pay your bills. Unless you don't have a BMO account...tell me to screw off haha

Now not so sure called them back after receiving yet another letter with this number and it says the call cannot be completed because the number is not in service

THIS NUMBER CALLS CONSTANTLY AND NO ONE IS ON THE OTHER END.
