Called and then hung up when I answered. I called back and they claimed to be BMO.

Calls then hangs up... calls leaves a generic message. Wants personel info. Actually called BMO they have no idea who it is and it's not one of there numbers. Scammer.

I called bmo this morning bcuz this number 18886762269  called me again leaving a VM for me to call them regarding my account.
But knowing all my accounts are good and I'm not behind in any CC pymts, I finally was suspicious Enuff to inquire about things.
First: bmo said they DON'T  leave detailed VM!
Second: bmo only calls from the number on the back of our Debit Card or from our Main Branch LOCAL phone number!
Third: bmo said that this spoofing has been going on for years and other than ourselves blocking the number, nothing can really be done about it! They try to tell people to be careful but other than that, bmo says there's nothing more that they can do about it...

I am NOT happy with bmo's response to this, bcuz there's still alot of people who fall VICTIM to spoofers and I'm worried that the Elderly or someone else who will be preyed upon and give out their bank card info or change their bank card password while on a call with these spoofers!!

Bull********, never had delays paying my BMO M.C. account, or any other for that matter.  Won’t bother returning the call, though it’s the first time they leave a message, one from a machine nor less.  Spells scammers!

number called me saying it's in regards to my BMO account...I called BMO to find out they do not USE THIS NUMBER...

I have received the same call. It was a recorded voice message and I did not even remember what they were saying. I called BMO and they confirmed it is their collection number. She suggested to to call back and ask about the reason behind calling. I do not bank with BMO so if there is anything, it is identity theft. Thankfully they did not find any account under my name, instead, it was another person who has my number under their profile. So she removed the number from her profile. I am thinking, it could be because this number was used by someone before. I got my number from SK just because they have wonderful deals, 45 dollars with unlimited call and texts and 7GB of data. EVER i got this number, I have always received wrong calls. So it should be a legitimate call

I'm just reading your message.  I noticed you posted in May.  It's now 7 months later and the exact same thing just happened to me!!! This is so upsetting nothing is or can be done.

I believe this is a highjacked number.  When you actually call the number, it is a line that goes to BMO debt collection. As a debt collection line, it is normal to not find the number posted on their website since the line is private. HOWEVER if you answer the call, when being called and get a person, the people on the line are scammers trying to get personal information.  Our resident who is receiving these calls does have a BMO account but after calling BMO ourselves, have it on official authority that none of her accounts are outstanding and she should NOT be receiving calls from the collections dept.

I have several BMO accounts and none of my credit cards are late in payments or in collections, I just checked my account online, so this is a bogus number and a phishing scam, or data mining!

Two days I need a row, called from this number. There is an answering machine that's puts me on hold. Third call, a guy asks to speak to Gustavo Colorado. I told him it was a wrong number. The first call was yesterday after 6:00 pm. Today, before 4:00 pm.
