Same as above, called me now, Friday evening at 7:30pm! Went to VM, Long wait, no message, then hangup. Why bother?

I got the same letter as everyone. I recommend if you have received this letter to call the fraud toll free number. this is a very serious crime you must report this as soon as you receive it.

Fraud!!! Do not provide ypur details, they hung up on me when I challeneged them on the reason behind their call.

This is fraud and you must work for the frauders! I have actual evidence of this being a fraud, bmo has started an internal investigation!!!

Although the incoming number may be spoofed by scammers you can ignore it and THEN I'd recommend at least calling the number back. The number is in fact listed on the BMO site here https://www.bmo.com/main/contact-us  . In particular the information is listed as:

Monday – Friday: 7am-10pm ET
Saturday: 8am-4pm ET

BMO doesn't send text messages...this is a scam...always phone the number on the back of your credit card.

It's BMO collections department. Whether you agree or not. You probably owe them money somewhere and it's not a scam. Stop pretending it is and try to figure out where this is coming from. Pay back what you owe before they send you to a national collection agency or even decide to take court action and redeem your assets.

They didn't answer when i picked up, then recalled to leave message. This is the Nth time. This time the  guy called, screwed up his callback number, so then restarted his script right from the top, word for word. If BMO really wanted me, there are other legitimate numbers and emails they would use. One time they left the mailing adress of BMO to sound authentic (really?!).
I see what I assume are frauders posting comments to this site saying that these calls are legitimate.

I got called and I don't even have a bmo account

i answered today and when i told the guy i was at work, he asked me to please call back when i had time and that it was regarding payment on my BMO mastercard <even told me the last 4 digits of my card>  ---- i did pay late and they have been sending me mail for payment - not sure if phishing scam or if legit -- i don't plan on actually calling back because my payment will be made tomorrow when i get paid and that should be good enough for them.

I think it is BMO using a scam technique to harrass their customers. It is a BMO/MJR ploy - if they have some issue with you they give the number out to frighten you. Canada is a credit rating/Insurance ELSLAVED country!!! Anyway since EQUIFAX (that mean Transunion too) data was hacked the credit rarting system is NOW DEFUNCT!

This is legit.
Go to their website, call the number in the Contact Us section, tell them about the recorded message you received asking you to call them at 1 888-676-2269, and ask them to verify this is the number for their Account Management dept. They confirmed it to be their number -- it's legit.
In my case it was a late payment.

I am also receiving calls from this number but it is only a recording when I answer, not a live person.  If they are a collection agency for BMO, I do not owe them anything.  If they do not do something about these calls I will have to stop dealing with them
