- TimValid call from BMO for missed payments on any of their credit products including auto loans as was my case.
- Caller: BMO Credit Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- The WatcherScammer and phisher approach - I bank with several banking institutions. I have had several late payments. They will leave a message and a contact number to call with identification of who(m) they are and what they are calling about.
Unfortunately much of your and my information is available online and available with a little digging... and can some info can be purchased. Such as who(m) you may bank with and more - especially from credit card companies who had these okays in the volume of pages you sign and agree to when getting a credit card.
When they constantly call and do not respond or do not leave a message then they are bogus. This number calls me on a rotating basis and NEVER leaves a message. My sister works for a Canadian Financial Institution and she has always advised me to let the phone ring. If a bank wants to contact of you they always leave a contact number.
Anyone on here leaving messages to the contrary is an employee of these false agents. Who would come on here unless to complain about the number - who else would come on here to contradict a number designated for complaints and reporting? A goon of those companies. - lnthomsengot call from 1-888-676-2269 saying they are from bmo
- Caller: bmo
- SuspiciousGot a call from this number and it is BMO collections. I verified this through the main BMO customer service number on my account. They promptly transferred me to this number (department) so that I could verify if they had, indeed, called me today. THEY DID NOT. There was no record on my account that they had called me.
This is what the rep said: It is an automatic dialer and apologized for the call. That would explain why no one says anything when you answer the phone.
I did however, suggest that they investigate these calls and referred them to this website with the host of individuals who have received calls from this number for no reason.- Caller: BMO
- bethanyi do think its BMO but i for one am not late on payment on my student line of credit and they just called. I didn't answer as it was on my cell and didn't want to waste minutes on a number i didn't recognize. They didn't leave a message. which in conclusion I think BMO is stupid
- Caller: BMO
- Call type: Debt collector
- LindsayThey claim to be from BMO however I have never had any business with them. I have no outstanding loans or debts with anyone. Sounds fishy to me.
- aliThey have a tracker system . How I know. well they calling about a person who is my close friend . he never gave my no to anyone but use his personal no to call me. And this company Is using his call history. and from there they r calling me to get know about him.
- Call type: Debt collector
- carriePhones every day. When I pick up there's no answer. When I call back I get silence.
- Caller: dont know theres no answer!
- GibbsI just cleared out my caller ID log, they called my DNC land line 6 times last week
- M| 1 replyThey called at 9 a.m. this morning from 8886762269 (received several calls during the week as well)
when i picked up no one was there, and then they hung up
so i called the number back, bmo
when i reached someone, they asked for my phone number, after several miniutes (i could hear paper shuffling) they asked for my full name and address.
would not give it to them,
they suggested i go to a branch to see why they called.- Caller: ?bmo?
- M replies to MAnd why would they call on a holiday weekend?
- TDThey are calling my work phone and claiming they are BMO - Bank of Montreal about an important business matter. I have not dealt with BMO in over 20 years and my work phone number is unpublished. This sounds very phishy to me
- Caller: BMO Bank Of Montreal
- eskasame for me. never been with BMO. but for my part they're always leaving a message saying to call back (it's a robot) "for an important question affair".
yet I don't want to since it looks really sketchy. they're calling once a day.- Caller: BMO
- PPlease people realize that no one can ask for your money unless they have a contract with their and your signature on it. Legit collections or scam artists alike, selling your debts to a third party is a fraudulent breach of contract. Please don't let these theives win by ignorance.
- nikenoahBMO collections - i was wary at first but realized that they were calling about a loan that i had.
All legitimate.- Caller: BMO
- Call type: Debt collector
- not meI have never had this bmo, I'm not Canadian, and live nowhere near Canada.
- EJI am receiving calls from this number although I have nothing to do with BMO. No bank account or credit card. As others mentioned earlier, no message left either.
- AemiI have been avoiding this number like the plague. I know I'm behind in my payments but when my paycheck is 800 dollars and my rent is 600 dollars and they demand a payment of 700 dollars no questions no excuses every month what do they expect me to do? rob a bank for them?
What i don't understand here is why the voicemails they give me are just a pre-recorded message telling me the hours of operation for BMO in Ontario when I am in Alberta and don't have anything in my name on the other side of the country....- Caller: BMO

After a flurry of calls over a few days (with no messages), I finally answered this call. (It must be telemarketing season, I get 800 # calls all the time recently for [***] programs). A woman asked to speak to me, I said I was he and she said she was calling from BMO. I thought, "Here we go", but she said I was late on a car payment. i bought a car in October and financed it through RBC, as Ive been a customer there for 25 years. When I told her that i thought she was mistaken, or had the wrong person, the phone was handed off to a gruff Indian/Pakistani sounding man with a thick accent. Not put on hold, or told to wait, there was rustling while an actual phone was handed to someone, as if someone had put their hand over the receiver. RED FLAG!!
He reiterated what the woman had said and I asked if he could provide my account number. He literally said "uhhhh, yes, I will get it for you", like I had just thrown him a curve ball RED FLAG!
That's about as far as that conversation went, I hung up while he was "looking' for my account info.
So either BMO has the worst customer service ever (not unbelievable, given the outsourcing of some companies, yeah, im looking at you Rogers) or this is a SCAM.
The bottom line to all the replies here is that a lot of the people writing (like myself) DONT BANK WITH BMO!!!! So either the people replying on here are these same callers wreaking havoc, or they are somehow mimicing the number to show up on phones. Given the way they handle the calls, i can't believe they'd have the outside the box thinking to come on here and do the former.
Either way, there is no chance that an institution like BMO is allowing clowns like these to handle their collections calls. I would not have been at all surprised to hear them say that they also needed my help getting a few million out of Nigeria.- Caller: allegedly BMO

- Don in CalgaryI got a call from this number that sounded very convincing, the only thing that seemed strange is that it came on a Sunday afternoon when the office was closed. I called that number and they had obviously taped the BMO message line on an iPhone or something to make it seem more convincing. Looking at this list, it's obviously a phishing scam, but be careful, it's a fairly convincing set up!
- Caller: Unknown - phishing
