I haven't got youth as an excuse for me for being duped by this Jamster lot. I clicked on what I believed was a link to download one tune as a ringtone for my mobile and then you get the texts assault to subscribe for only £4-50 a month, which I did thinking it was all going to be simple, but no, no app downloaded to my phone, and not ringtone either...................thinking I had done something not right and my subscription had failed, was not too bothered as found the tune on youtube anyway, low and behold get bank statement in £4-68 deducted last month and £9-10 this month......have sent e-mail to Jamster via contact us tab on their website today and look forward to their reply

    Just to share my experience.

On Saturday 1st Dec 2012, my kids were playing with my phone, then I have got a text message at 14:02 from 85450 saying, "Thank you for subscribing to Jamster Action club for 4.50 per 1 week from Jamster until text STOP to 88888.  HELP? 08701213186."

I have sent a text STOP to 88888 at 14:19, and got a reply immediately, "Free Msg: Thank you for your membership!  Your package has been successfully cancelled."

Then I have got another text from 64055 at 14:26, "Free Msg: Thank you. You have been successfully unsubscribed from Jamster Action club, provided by Jamster.  HELP? 08701213186."

I have checked with my phone operator and there is a charge of 4.81 pounds on my phone bill, which related to these messages.

I have sent an email to info@support.jamster.com on 3 Dec 2012 and want to confirm that everything is canceled and block my number from further text.  Also asking what services I have got for the money that I have paid for.

They reply in 30 mins, confirm the cancelation, and told me I have clicked on something to download a product and have sent me a link.  I also have 2 remaining download credits left until 7 Dec 2012.  Of course, I have never seen the link as my kids were playing with it; I have no intention to download anything, and am not going to use the remaining credits.  I just hope that there are no further money taken from my account and not receiving any messages from them again.

In this event, I have learnt a lesson that I shall be careful when giving kids the mobile.

My 11 year old daughter has been having £4.50 per week taken from her pay as you go o2 account.  She said that she has never subscribed to any thing?

I called 0870 121 3186, a number I picked from other posts on this site.  The gentleman agreed to block her number from use on their site and to stop the text messages(3no a week at £1.50).

This is a major scam that should not be allowed.  How many millions of pounds are these people scamming from children.  My Daughter insist that she has never actually downloaded a ringtone.

My 12 year old daughter was duped into this. This kind of targeting and activity should be made illegal and I will take steps to contact my Member of Parliament about this.

    A bunch of con artists.
I have been subscribed since May. I have 108 credits worth about £99 in my estimation and they offered me £40 refund. I am going to investigate further, but this is shocking as kidskin up for these things unwittingly and these companies rip people off the whole time.

My ten yr old replied to a text from 88888 and we were charged £27.00 in one month for a series of nonsense wallpapers, at 3 a time. Vodafone pushed the blame onto a third party as you'd exoect, but come on, he is charged through his bill, you can guarantee there's plenty in this for vodafone, they take their share and then pay JAMSTER their cut.

Vodafone shouldn't allow this business to be charged through their service and that is the main crime. Vodafone gave me £5.00 compensation and some incorrect contact details for the 88888 company.

Eventually, through this website (thank you), I found out it was Jamster and saw that someone had posted their details (thank you that man). Correct number is 0870 1213186 (national rate number). I called them and because my son is 'under age' (their words) they offered a full refund of £27.00. Waiting for cheque to arrive, I'll post on here again if it does/doesn't.

Two can dine in for £10.00 with M&S. £27.00 for a load of images no bigger than a stamp which you could get from google in less time. What a business....just let them print their own money, so the rest of us don't have to waste our time chasing refunds and can get back to work.

    Good Luck, Jon

I have a pay as you go phone i usually only top up about once a month. I got a new phone and all of a suuden my money kept running out. I thought that perhaps i was not using it right and then i realised there was loads of texts from 88888 saying you subcribed for £4.50 a week. No way can i remember doing that. I have now text stop all and hope and wait. Wonder what they will do if there is no money to meet it.

Just spoke to Jamster and complained about my 12 year old son who had registered by mistake and not made any downloads.  They were very sympathetic and promised to block the number and refund £40.50 taken from my account over a 3 month period via cheque within the next 20 working days.  I hope they will honour this promise.

Reading these complaints encouraged me to make this call, a big Thank You all.

Why does an 8 year old need a mobile phone? Who's fault is it for him wasting money? If he isn't responsible enough to know when to reply, he shouldn't have a mobile... I'm 14, and got my fist one on my 13th birthday.

I hadn't understood why my mobile - which I hardly ever use - was eating my top-ups.  I had received some texts from 88888 “Jamster” which I ignored.  When I came to use the phone yesterday, my balance was zero.  So I added another £10 today.  There were then a few text rings which again I ignored.  Within 20 minutes of topping up with that tenner, I checked my balance; it was now only £1.  Without my realising what had happened, Jamster had stolen perhaps £30 from me over the past few months.

When I got back home, I did a Google search for 88888 and came across this thread and the useful number: 08701 213 186.  A very helpful gentleman In Serbia blocked my number so I should receive no more calls.  When I asked where Jamster is based, he said Germany.  I couldn't resist adding that this time “The Germans have won!”
