I have received a couple of pieces of mail with two different numbers indicating that they had sent me a new credit card and the second giving me a new pin number. First, I don't have pins on my credit cards. I have them removed. Second, No credit card was issued. I've checked online for my existing cards and there is no activity. No pending authorizations. Nada. You just have to love the "wonderful, blissful, thoughtful" comments. Anyone notice that it is for several different company names indicating that they work for various credit unions? The company has not called me from either number at all. So, they COULD NOT possibly know me or have information from my credit union. I only have a Visa card yet they list a Mastercard number. Very indicative that they are a totally unprofessional and not a valid company.

    Happy I called
So, I saw the number decided to give it a call and glad I did! I just returned home from travelling internationally and sure enough my credit card was compromised. The sneaky criminals charged 98 cents to "U Lane O" and then they tried to do a $1 transaction with Paypal that was terminated. I was lucky to catch everything in time. Do yourself a favor, call and take the few minutes to verify for your protection.

Got a voicemail on a Sunday morning. Did a search on the number and checked out this site. Tried to call my CU to verify, but wait was too long. I did see their company name and number posted on my CU's website. Curiosity got best of me and I called the number. She requested last 4 SSN and 3 digit security number which I initially refused to provide. I told her I don't even know who I am speaking with nor the nature of the call.  She told me that w/o the number, she could not look up account and advised me to call my CU. I reluctantly provided info.  They were trying to verify recent (yesterday) possible fraudulent transaction for $4.00, which alerted them that it may be a fraud and my cc was frozen at that time. Informed her that I never heard of the company. She went on to give me transactions within the last week which I verified as legit. She advised me that my current cc will not be re-instated, but that they will request a new cc for me. I was trying to make a purchase last nite, but got errors from website. The reason for errors was because my cc was frozen. She also told me that scammers try to make little transactions to see if the cc is valid. If the transaction had gone through, I could have possibly been out a lot more than $4.00. Thanks for looking out!

They called representing Visa/BECU.  They asked about recent charges I'd made, which were a bit out of the ordinary.  They had the billing names for the charges and the exact amounts.  All were legitimate charges, but not ordinary charges for me, hence the security call.

It's legit, they are just trying to make sure someone isn't using your card as there is suspicious activity such as double swipes at the same location or several denials at a same location.

This number is legit. It's a watchdog service used by credit unions. They blocked someone in another state from trying to use a copy of my card at a Walgreen's.

Received call both at home & work from this number reportedly doing a security check on my Credit Union Visa card. Being suspicious of such calls, instead of returning their call, first I checked the status of my account, which had an unusual charge (in Iowa?) made to the account. Upon my contacting the CU directly, I was told the call was legitimate. The representitive further looked at the account informing me of another attempted purchase which was blocked. It turns out someone, somehow hacked the account. The representitive helped me close the accound. It's good to know "someone" is out there watching for such fraudluent activity.

This was a legitimate call.  I received a message on Saturday night and was asked to call them at 888-918-7313 referencing a case number.  I was a bit worried so called my credit union this morning and they verified that they do have an outside company monitoring cards for fraud.  Sure enough, someone made a charge for around $1 and then made an purchase for $1000.  Made for a lousy morning here, but I am glad they caught this.

It's a fraud - confirmed it with RBC that this number is bogus and not the bank.

The multiple shill postings claiming that the number is "legitimate" only make it more obvious that this is actually a total fraud.

Do NOT call this number - it is a phony!  I called our real credit union card number and they have no information of having called us.  Periodically, they do call to verify some charges, but when they do, they immediately identify themselves and they give us information, they don't ask us for imformation!

    Legitimate
I called my Credit Union and confirmed that this call was legitimate.  Someone tried using my card in IL, NH, and VA all in one day.

Here it is 4+ years later and I have the same letter in hand, but likely a different bank/credit union.  The text is the same, though.  I'm waiting for my credit union to investigate this, as it looks a bit fishy. Well, folks, it's legit, according to my credit union. The card company put a hold on it (now I remember a purchase being denied, forgot about it).  The "suspicious activity" was due to a political donation of $10. hmmm.

Legit. They called to verify my pending charges from outside the country belonged to me and not a thief. Glad to have a little security behind my purchases!

Yep, it was legitimate.  We went through the toll free number on the credit card rather than calling back the unverified number though.  They did have a security flag on the account and transfered us to the same folks that called where the reference number given in the message was verified.  Someone tried to use an actual card with our account number on it for a $250 purchase in a WalMart 2000 miles away from home.  It was denied on the spot for some reason, maybe due to it being out-of-pattern spending or some other reason we don't know yet.  They hadn't even gotten the information from WalMart yet about it.  Card canceled, new one issued, 7-10 days, and fraud investigation opened.

So, legitimate number, but once again, caller id can be spoofed, so I would still call the number on your credit card to get to the people you know are the right ones.

Got a call today, about fraudulent charges, called credit union, they are legit, looked on cc, indeed had fraudulent charges.  Called and gave them my case number, they are taking care of it.
