The call is legitimate.  They ask for your phone number (to look up your account information) and the last 4 numbers of your social security number for verification.

Left a message on my answering machine.  Said his name was "Hose" or "Jose" and that said I needed to call them back immediately at 888-918-7313, to "assure uninterrupted service of my credit union credit card account."  I called the credit union this morning, and as soon as I gave her the number, the credit card anministrator told me this was a scam.  She told me the two scam lines they are using, on of which is exactly what this clown said to me.

I just got a call from 8889187313 they alerted me about some
recent purcheses, one I had just made from Whitening Now.com
for free sample plus $6.95 shipping and a $14.95 purchase
yesterday for a face lift cream, Belisi.
Both of these ads start the same way: regular mom discovers
miracle (either whiter teeth or face lift cream) of mixing
two products. Apparently there is a free trail offer but
you do have to pay for shipping. I could use a face lift and
whiter teeth! NO,I didn't give them any info over the phone.
I'm not THAT crazy! Let's all be careful.

This company is totally legit. If your credit union told you it wasn't than that person is not aware of the security company contracted on the credit unions behalf. I was suspicious at first but it turns out that this company is totally legit. I am happy to have the peace of mind knowing that I am protectected against possible fruadulent charges.

I got one of these calls and went to Pentagon Federal Credit Union's website to get a telephone number I could call to see if the caller was in fact calling for the credit union.  On the "contact us" page there was a line that read: "Credit Cards- Falcon Verification•Toll-Free U.S.: 1-888-918-7313".  Problem solved.

Caller left a message to call back 888-918-7313.  I did, then my husband reacted very strongly.  A Sunday afternoon call?  They asked for last 4 SSN and had records of recent debit card purchases, all valid.  I have no reason to think anything was suspicious on the account, but next time, I will not return the call!

This is a legitimate service hired by our credit union (Affinity) to monitor card use. They caught several hundred dollars worth of cell phone & computer stuff someone tried to order over internet with our Visa. Call them back!

It's legit, but seems fishy.  If you have doubts, call the Lost & Stolen number on the back of your card and ask if there have been fraudulent charges; the same company does both tasks.

I called back, gave personal info I didn't want to, and they noted two odd charges I hadn't made on the last four numbers of my credit card (which they knew).  They said they would cancel the card.  Ok, end of call.  Then I worried it was phishing and called the number on the back of my card to REALLY cancel the card; they said their internal security department had already done so.  It's the same company; just call the number on the back of your card after hours or your credit union (or bank) during business hours.

Got the second of 2 calls over the course of 2 months from these guys.  They were calling me on my direct line, aboud "fraudulent" activity on my visa.  When I pressed the woman, the last 4 digits of the card do not belong to me and the card is listed for a credit union that I have never had an account with.  Obviously I am very suspicious.  She wanted me to verify the last 4 of my SSN which I refused, when I asked her to read me the last 4 of the account in question, she refused.

I wasn't sure about this number either.  Called the number on the back of my credit card they were referring to first and was assured that their security department did call me and that I had fraudulent charges to my card.  Calling them saved me approx. $600.  Not a scam!!

The number is legit.  Recieved call today let answer machine pickup.  Checked account online.  Three unauthorized charges pending.  Called credit union and had card blocked and number was verified by credit union card services.  Glad for that phone call.  They even tried to use the card about an hour after I put the block on.

This company is a joke.  Normal recurring charges over the last few weeks have had them calling me day and night, on my personal and business checking VISA/ATM.  Vystar are a joke, they can't help, and I am a busy man. Its clearly software making the decisions.  Well I am making the decision and moving to a real bank, sick of credit unions.  My complaint to the VP of my branch have gone un answered so Iam moving three accounts including my savings to Bank of America who seem to give a [***].

They really are a security monitoring company for my credit union.  They called to ask me about a bogus charge from Smart Savings Center - a purchase I had never made.  Apparently they're getting lots of charges from this company.  They make a small charge for $19.95, and if no one notices, they come back later and charge a much higher amount.

They did not ask my card number or identity info other than my phone number and last four digits of social security.  They reversed the bogus charges and cancelled my card to prevent future charges.

Yes, it is legitimate, but I was also very suspicious of calling this number, especially since I could not do a reverse lookup on it.

Instead I called my local Credit Union office. They did not know anything about it, and did not recognize the number. But since I received the voicemail on both my home and work phones, I decided to call the number on the back of my card, was connected to the security department, and verified the pending charges on my card using a printout I had made by logging into my credit union's web page.

I had pending charges for a sale that did not complete that I had tried to make over the web. I noticed my account said Authorization Prohibited, so I can't help but wonder if they did not create the problem themselves, and then waited 2 days to call me.

I told them they needed a better system, as I was quite naturally leery of calling a number left on a voicemail and giving out personal information - got a big excuse about "oh we don't do that, we tell you to call the number on the back of the card". So why didn't they say that on the voicemail in the first place?

So anyway my account is active again and I am contacting the company about the pending charges on the web sale that did not complete - they probably would never have gone through anyway.

Thanks to everyone who posted here - you helped me figure out what to do.

This is 100% legit -- my credit union verified their phone number as well.  They stopped a potential fraudulant charge, so I'm happy.  They were also able to confirm all transactions made in the last 48 hours and NEVER asked me for any bank/card information.  Now, called IDs can be spoofed, so it is possible that someone else could use the number, however they should not ask for any personal info.

They're not fake; they're a legit company working with Credit Unions to verify suspicious charges.  Took all of 1 minute to verify and all was well.  They're doing an important job to protect the CU and help you avoid some serious potential charge back hassles, so work with them.

I've received two calls from this number in the past year or so - both times verifying internet purchases charged to my Visa card.  Both were for under $50, but they said it was probably flagged because it was a small store out of state (both times).  I think it's legit.
