$6.75 was charged twice on my card today and I received a call from this number.  They said it was a fraud alert when they called.   They told me all my transactions for the last several days.
I only gave them only them my address and DOB.
After reading some of the comments left here I called my credit union and they said yes they DID contact me and it was a legit call.
I don't understand why some people are saying its a scam- they had all my info including my card number.  Yes I am still a bit freaked out, but it seems that this service is awesome.

I actually called my credit union and they said that Yes they had contacted me about these charges made in another state and that they turned my credit card off.  I expressed my concerns and they told me procedure that is follow and not to worry because it was not a scam call.
I don't understand why you think it is a scam, do you have more info you can share?

I think I've figured this out. There are a lot of people saying their credit unions don't recognize this company. I think it's affiliated not so much with the CU's but with the credit union's DEBIT CARD issuer. Maybe that would explain why people just working at a branch wouldn't recognize it right off hand. Also, I've noticed that both Visa and MasterCard users get these calls, so it's not exclusive to just one, but any debit cards/credit cards issued through certain credit unions.

I just began purchasing baby items online a couple of days ago, some of which are very expensive. I guess the security company, Falcon, noticed that this was an unusual purchase for me...though it IS Christmastime, and one should really expect people to spend more, and to buy items for other people, or products uncharacteristic to them...but whatever. I got a voice mail a couple of days ago after a purchase and hadn't checked it, because I thought I knew who it was from. Finally I listened to it toady, and it turns out, it was these people. So I got really suspicious after hearing some strange, accented guy asking about such things during a season known for scams, and not being familiar with the company I hesitated calling them back. I took a look at my MC debit card and the lost/stolen number on the back was very similar to this one. Companies normally have several close "800" numbers, so I just decided to call the number on the back of my card and ask them about this. They said that it was THEIR security company, and transferred me over to speak with them. Apparently, my card had been frozen because I hadn't returned their call...which annoyed me a little, but I hadn't tried to use the card in the last few days, so I blew it off. Still, I don't like that they just seize your account like that because they "feel" that your purchase is fraudulent. This could have caused me a lot of trouble and headaches if baby were here already, and I needed the card for diapers or something. Geez. Anyway, they did ask me a lot of information that I never would have given them if the member services number hadn't been the one to connect me, so maybe they need to do a little more to reassure people than simply dropping a random voice mail asking them to call some random number.

I just wanted to let everyone know it IS NOT A SCAM. Calm down and check with the card issuer, number should be on the back of your debit or credit card. But whatever you do, try to return their call because if it's a fraudulent charge, well you want to know that, but even if it isn't, you don't' want to get locked out of your account. Hope that helps. :)

In my case this call was legit as well regarding my account with Comstar FCU.  After I ignored the initial call I received a letter stating my account had been put on hold and sure enough my debit card was no longer active.  I called and we ran through the last month of transactions, finding several I had not made in a state I have never been to, and cancelled the card.

It is legit. Called my credit union before calling the 888# back - they verified it is a service they utilize. I had been to NYC over Christmas and used my debit card a couple of times. Someone that I used my card with in Manhattan some how got the account info and on 1/11/13 there was an attempt to use a counterfeit card at a casino in New Orleans (I live in NC) - one time for $4000 and the second time for $2000. Got everything straightened out with my credit union before I call the #888 back. Falcon verification (the 888# will deny the charges and deactivate your card if your credit union/bank is not open/available). The conflicting info on the web is very confusing. Hope this helps others out.

Had a message from a woman stating it was urgent we returned her call. Left telephone number and case number. Stated it was from our credit union and our visa card. It was a very vague message, didn't state what company she worked for. We called our credit union directly, verified the phone number, had them transfer us to the fraud department. Turns out someone 3 states attempted to use our card, or should I say they made a card with our information, swiped it. If the fraud department had not been monitoring these thieves would have cleaned out our bank account. If you receive a call, and are unsure call your credit union/bank and ask to be transferred to the fraud department. You can verify that way.

Got a call from 1-888-918-7313 on answering machine about routine security check on my Visa card.  Stating they were working for my Credit Union.  Called PSECU and they did verify the number as a company they use for security on Credit Cards.  Called and there was a $2.07 charge attempted on my Debit card today from a company called Normal 7.  I did not make the charge and neither did my wife. Apparently thieves try and make a small purchase to see if it goes through and then "go to town" on your card.  My card was immediately cancelled and I called PSECU and they verified the card was cancelled and they immediately issued me a new one.  I'm glad that this company is looking out for me because who knows where this could of led to, since my debit card is not as forgiving for fake purchases as a credit card is.

They called and left a message about a possible security issue with my card.  The caller never indicated what company she was from, which is suspicious.  I checked my account and everything looks normal, but I will call my provider during the week and check with them.  I trust them way more than some anonymous caller.  If they didn't authorize this call, then I will be reporting it for sure.

they were checking on charges made to my credit card that were not out of the ordinary and should not have triggered any suspicion, in my opinion. Also when we picked up the hone we got a recorded message rather than a voice.. this is a bad idea since it immediately made us suspicions of them. We called our credit union to verify, and I guess it's OK, but I don't feel totallly good about it.

This is apparently legit, but I will be contacting my credit union on Monday...

I had barely returned home from shopping this afternoon (a Saturday) when I got a call from this number.  As typical with 1-8** numbers, I didn't answer it, but they did leave a voice mail, so I googled the number, saw that people were saying it was legit, and then listened to the voice message.

I called them back and they were inquiring about the purchase I had just made a couple of hours before and one several weeks ago.

I inquired about why this was starting up, as the store I had just made a purchase at as one I frequently do business with, and the purchase wasn't outrageous.  The young man I spoke with (David) said the credit union I belong to was stepping up checks on purchases to prevent fraud.

I don't have a problem with that per se, but if they're going to freeze your account if you don't happen to respond right away - THAT I do have a problem with.  You would think if the financial institution is implementing something new like this, they would advise their members.   I know I'll be calling my credit union this coming week.

If you get a call from this number, it's safe to call them back.  They are legitimate calls about fraudulent or suspicious activity on your credit cards.  I live in St Louis and haven't been out of the state since March.  There were several charges on our card yesterday in North Carolina and our card was shut down.  They are issuing replacement cards.  I didn't call 888-918-7313 back but instead called the number on the back of our credit cards - they transferred the call to their fraud department which was the company calling from 888-918-7313.  The person that answered knew about the call they made to us earlier in the day and they asked for the case number left on our voice mail.

They're legitimate, but I would never give out anyone who just calls me out of the blue information about my account.  However, when they've called me, it is to ask whether or not I have made specific charges that they already know about.  All I have done is confirm I did or did not make the charges.  Usually they have been legit but three times in 10 years they haven't been.  Anyone calling from a service like this shouldn't need your name, address, or account number - they should already have it, and they should have specific transactions they are asking about.

    THANKFUL!
It is a fraud alert from your Credit Union.  I just received 3 calls (one at home, 2 at my office) to which my Visa credit (not debit) card had been used in Buffalo, NY (I live on the other side of the country) in excess of $350.  They did not allow the charge to go through, and have notified that it was a fraudulent charge.  I am thankful that this occurred...people, be very vigilant in who you give your c/c numbers to.  There are scammers everywhere...they spend more time figuring out how to scam people out of their money than to go out and make their own.

I got a call from this number yesterday morning. They left a message saying they wanted to verify some charges on my debit card. Thought it was a scam, but I checked my bank account to see if anything was wrong and there were several charges that were not made by me. So I called them back and they froze my account for me. They did not ask me for my account number or SS# or anything. Just talked to the bank to fix the rest of the problem. Glad they called.

I got a call from this number, they left a voice mail saying there was "strange activity" on my account.   The voice mail gave a different callback number (877-500-7697).  When I called, they asked for my name, last 4 of SS#, and mailing address.  I refused to give this information.  They told me to call my bank to verify the call was legit.  They gave me a 1-800 number that was suppose to be for my bank.     However, I called the local number to my bank and asked if the call was legit.    I gave them the 800 number I was given ..... turns out the number given was ALMOST exactly right, except one number was different.   My bank advised to not call them back and to not tell anyone anything was a similar request.  she checked my account and there was no "tag" to the account, therefore the call was a FAKE and was fishing for information.
